Sugoi, please please please don’t delay the vaccinations. They are so important.

You will be protecting her by getting them done on time.

peachgreen · 08/03/2020 21:10

@sugoi I'd say it's more important than ever to get them done. You don't want her vulnerable to other illnesses. Just practice good hygiene while you're there and it'll be fine.

Jumpedintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 21:10

Sugoi

I'd get her done now

AnneKipanki · 08/03/2020 21:11

I agree, Sugoi . Please take her .
Awesome name!

Michelleoftheresistance · 08/03/2020 21:11

Oh for fucks sake. You're determined to stop people talking, you're determined to control this thread, and you've successfully fucked about with it to the point it's too annoying to find meaningful posts in between the derailing. I give up, you win. You've successfully taken a source of support away from me so thanks a bunch for that.

Quartz2208 · 08/03/2020 21:12

Yes the risk from not being vaccinated will be more than going to the doctors office. Be sensible and keep her away from anything and wash hands etc and you will be fine

Notonthestairs · 08/03/2020 21:13

Sugoi - get the vaccinations. Take your own toys etc rather than anything in the waiting room and usual washing of hands etc.
You could also wait outside with buggy and ask Receptionist to call you through from there if you don't want to be in the waiting room. I think they'll understand.

BigChocFrenzy · 08/03/2020 21:13

@red Are there more cases among the elderly, because the generally better immune system of younger people is more likely to prevent it getting established ?

Or are more cases just being reported for the elderly because the young may just think they have a cold, but the elderly are much harder hit by symptoms ?

iirc from China and also other countries affected,
children under 18 for example can get the virus, but are far less likely too,
even though they probably get out more and meet more people than the elderly

LynetteScavo · 08/03/2020 21:14

Don't delay vaccinations! Take your baby to the doctors, but take sensible precautions.

www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3074131/coronavirus-highly-sensitive-high-temperatures-dont-bank-summer
Coronavirus ‘highly sensitive’ to high temperatures, but don’t bank on summer killing it off, studies say
Pathogen appears to spread fastest at 8.72 degrees Celsius, so countries in colder climes should ‘adopt the strictest control measures’, according to researchers from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong province
But head of WHO’s health emergencies programme says it is ‘a false hope’ to think Covid-19 will just disappear like the flu

AvocadoOwl · 08/03/2020 21:14

I must admit I find it interesting reading others opinions on here, even speculative stuff. There is enough info out there for us all to make our own minds up, I'm surprised people are taking supposition on a forum like this as gospel truth.

It's Mumsnet for goodness sake, not a PHE noticeboard Hmm

Let's face it, even the bare facts are anxiety inducing, regardless of how you cut them. People are perfectly entitled to discuss bad news without being held accountable for others' mental health.

ofwarren · 08/03/2020 21:15

.
@CMO_England
has confirmed a third patient in England who tested positive for coronavirus (#COVID19) has died.

The patient was being treated at North Manchester General Hospital and had significant underlying health conditions.

Bearbehind · 08/03/2020 21:15

michelle it’s exactly that kind of dramatic bollocks that’s the problem here

What have I said that’s so outrageous?

How is preying on people’s anxieties, rather than sticking to facts with action plans, helpful?

Youngatheart00 · 08/03/2020 21:16

Thanks @ofwarren

How very sad about the latest death Sad

peridito · 08/03/2020 21:16

Red I've been trying to follow Devon and as I understand it a grammar school in Churston Ferrers has a case ,it's the ski ing at half term link .

I think the profile of families of pupils at the grammar school is such that they can afford the sking .

So my theory would be that the money/sking was more important than the age . Though perhaps it's now spread to older people ?
( sorry this is all v badly expressed )

Jumpedintotheabyss · 08/03/2020 21:16

The only thing giving me is anxiety on this thread is 🐻.

MarshaBradyo · 08/03/2020 21:17

If there’s misinformation say so, I don’t know which posts you mean so it’s not actually helpful to say generally there’s misinformed speculation.

Butterwhy · 08/03/2020 21:17

@Sugoi yes, definitely go for jabs. We had to take DS to the doctor's and to hospital on Friday and it was worth it. He has his 12 month ones next week and I'll only be delaying if he is poorly and they won't do them.

WorriedAcademic · 08/03/2020 21:18

Guy in Japan tested positive and decided to go on a bar crawl to spread the virus. Most interesting bit is that he had no symptoms.

I'm surprised people are taking supposition on a forum like this as gospel truth

In a country where articles in the Daily Mail and The Sun are taken as gospel truth by millions?

myrtleWilson · 08/03/2020 21:18

Lang - I would imagine that spokespeople in those circumstances are directed by PHE about the information they can include in any statement.

In terms of University planning, whilst I can't speak for Oxford I do know other Universities are looking at short/medium and long term planning for responding to not just this 'wave' of the virus but the potential for any subsequent waves in later months. Again, they will be driven by national PH advice but also shaped by local requirements.

georgedawes · 08/03/2020 21:20

Sad to hear another person has died.

SnoozyLou · 08/03/2020 21:20

@Sugoi My GPs has been shut down as there are 3 cases there, and I would still make arrangements to get them done at a partnering surgery. The benefits still outweigh the risk. I don't see this going away anytime soon so I'd get it done ASAP.

peridito · 08/03/2020 21:20

@oneteen you asked ,ages ago ,about testing .

This is old March 2 ,but all I can find .
