Will you go ahead with Easter travel plans

Just curious as to whether people that have holidays booked over Easter plan to go ahead with their trips?

DSis is on the one hand insisting that her DCs primary should shut but at the same time has no intention of cancelling her family holiday in Europe over Easter Confused

At this rate I think people maybe need to change their perspective a little and consider whether those countries will be welcoming us in..

This.

zafferana · 10/03/2020 07:37

Last night the PM of Israel announced that anyone entering the country will need to be able to prove that they can self quarantine for 14 days. It goes into effect on Thurs for two weeks. We are due to go in three weeks' time, so it's not looking good. DH and I can't do anything until we know the information affecting our date of departure (and we might not know that until one week before we go), but we now plan to postpone our trip until Oct half term.

ssd · 10/03/2020 08:02

Is this postponement costing you a lot of money zafferana?

finn1020 · 10/03/2020 10:48

We have just cancelled a trip from Australia to Morocco at Easter. There were to be 7 of us so it will cost in cancellation anything from £500-£2000. We’re so disappointed but as part of trying to minimise financial, travel and heath risks we felt it was our only option.

Parker231 · 10/03/2020 10:54

We are still continuing with holiday plans unless FCO advice changes.

Branleuse · 10/03/2020 11:10

we're off to spain for a week at easter. Sunshine is good for the immune system.

zafferana · 10/03/2020 13:43

I hope not ssd. If Israel makes it impossible for us to go under their coronavirus containment policy then I'm hoping BA will let us change our flights to later in the year. Airbnb's Ts and Cs seem to say that we should get a full refund and again, we would re-book for new dates. I'm hoping the day tours I've booked can again just be changed to new dates.

London is not "hard hit" :

Usernamealreadyexists · 10/03/2020 16:39

@KaptenKrusty I’m off to Japan too on the 1st. Just hope we won’t be on lockdown...

Tulipstulips · 10/03/2020 21:43

Sunshine is good for the immune system

Tell that to the Italians.

drspouse · 10/03/2020 22:45

I have just had a work trip to an interesting location cancelled (instead I'll spend days on Skype it looks like) so I've told DH if we can't travel for our ski trip we will be going SOMEWHERE as nobody can stop us renting a cottage in the UK.

whattodo2019 · 13/03/2020 21:04

I think people travelling unnecessarily are very selfish.

NeckPainChairSearch · 13/03/2020 23:15

I also agree with this. Given our 'special' way of dealing with CV19, I suspect that we will be awarded pariah status within a period of time and wholly unwelcome in countries that are starting to show signs of recovery.

Good luck with that. Spain's cases have jumped significantly and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in an Italy type lockdown by Easter.

Branleuse · 14/03/2020 10:22

yes, its clearly worsened since originally posted and will be postponing plans now

peeledplumtomatoes · 14/03/2020 10:29

Flights from UK to Spain this morning have turned around mid air and come back to UK. I doubt if anyone will be going on holiday to Spain at Easter.

SabineSchmetterling · 14/03/2020 10:41

I’m totally baffled that anyone really think they will be flying to Spain in a few weeks time. More and more towns are going into lockdown there and UK travellers are unlikely to be welcome anywhere in a week or two given how little our approach to this crisis aligns with the rest of the world’s. Our government may have decided to go for a “herd-immunity” approach but nowhere else has. They aren’t going to want us flying in and spreading the virus.

jcurve · 14/03/2020 10:44

We’re cancelling ours today (Scottish Highlands). BA has just announced you can get an e-voucher for flights & holidays before 31st May, no matter when you booked, so we’re taking that option. We’ll go up later in the year.

jcurve · 14/03/2020 10:45

& our AirBnB is cancellable although I feel extremely sorry for the cottage owner.

TheresMoreofUs · 14/03/2020 10:48

Jet2 have cancelled all flights to Spain, Balearic Islands and Canaries.

Branleuse · 14/03/2020 10:50

easyjet are only allowing flight changes, not cancellations though, yet october half term flights not even available yet

MargotB7 · 14/03/2020 10:55

We haven't got anything booked (which I'm very happy about). I feel sorry for several friends who have a wedding, graduation and expensive holiday booked abroad.

SnoozyLou · 14/03/2020 10:56

🤦‍♀️

AnIsolatedSystem · 14/03/2020 10:58

Jet2 and Tui are not flying to Cyprus either

Minesabecks · 14/03/2020 11:25

If I change flights with easyJet it's around an extra £170 even with no fee. I would much rather have the money back and then free choice of rebooking. Assume still time for the flights themselves to be cancelled. (Obviously would prefer nothing cancelled and the danger past rather than getting my £300 back)
