I don't know whether you recall the patient I mentioned yesterday who was symptomatic but not getting tested due to the (outdated) criteria.
DH managed to get him assessed today (including likely swabs) as yesterday he had indeed been sent away without being seen - but it did require 45 minutes on the phone and an escalation up the management chain. On DH's day off! Clinical judgement is clinical judgement ffs, if a GP is worried someone does have CV then this should be taken seriously without having a monumental fight. It's in everyone's interest to pick up cases.
One of the clinicians DH initially spoke to (not someone in public health, trying not to be too outing but think nurse/ paramedic at 111) did indeed come out with a line about it being similar to the flu.
Ugh. I think the doctors will get there eventually as they are all now complaining loudly, in large numbers now, but we will have lost valuable time in this process.
