Bilbo I am the same but carrying on. I have got alcohol gel and am being careful always having tissues on me etc. It is definitely a cold, runny nose and general sinus congestion. Doesn’t sound like coronavirus at all and I haven’t travelled anywhere or had contact with anyone who has as far as I am aware

peridito · 06/03/2020 16:53

Or maybe it's a multiple choice form that is basis of published results

0 cases

1 to 4

over 4 please specify number ???

I can feel a FFS coming on .

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 06/03/2020 16:53

That list published 5th March has missed off two confirmed cases that were in the press 4th.

Sunshinesky1981 · 06/03/2020 16:54

So the breakdown of figures works one day in arrears then, well its not as helpful as we hoped but it is better than waiting a week for area updates

FaisPasCiFaisPasCa · 06/03/2020 16:54

Exactly

Cumbria 0

was 2 in Carlisle reported on 4th

SansaSnark · 06/03/2020 16:55

I wonder if the 1-4 is to protect people's privacy in some way? If there was only 1 person in the LA diagnosed, it might be easier to work out their identity from news reports? This is just a guess though.

I took a little bit of time away from looking at updates due to being busy with work. The thing that's concerned me most is the rising numbers of cases in other European counties, especially France and Germany. It feels like no European country has yet managed to contain this, and that is bad news for the continent as a whole.

I know there are reasons for the number of deaths/serious-critical cases in Italy, but those numbers are also very alarming.

Jumpingintotheabyss · 06/03/2020 16:55

West Berkshire included Woodley where the primary school teacher is from and that's showing 0.

Etinox · 06/03/2020 16:55

@anywinewilldonow can you link to the PHE area breakdown by area?
TIA

Jumpingintotheabyss · 06/03/2020 16:56

Italy seem to have lost all control over it.
It will be interesting to see if the school shut down has any effect.

GPwife2411 · 06/03/2020 16:59

Are these the LA data referred to?
It's better than nothing I suppose :)

YouAreTheEggManIAmTheWalrus · 06/03/2020 16:59

Also another area that had 3 yesterday is not on there.

peridito · 06/03/2020 16:59

‘we’ don’t know who is self isolating. But PHE do I'm not so sure ,there seems to be a bit of guesstemating involved .

Etinox · 06/03/2020 16:59

@anywinewilldonow thread has moved on and my request was garbled anyway!

middleager · 06/03/2020 17:00

Bilbo
My son was off yesterday and today (his brother did go skiing in Italy over half term, no symptoms so I had some cause for concern as the poorly son also asthmatic).
I too have a bit of a sniffle today.

I've treated it as a cold
Slightly raised temp, runny nose, slightly sore throat. Calpol melts given. Lots of water.

If there was a high temp, persistent cough and shortness of breath I may have called for advice but if you are worried then seek professional advice.

Son feeling much better and just thinking we have normal seasonal colds.

cologne4711 · 06/03/2020 17:00

West Berkshire included Woodley It's not, it's in Wokingham borough.

SansaSnark · 06/03/2020 17:01

@Jumpingintotheabyss I agree- Italy are starting to take lots of strong measures. It will be interesting to see if/when they have an impact.

Etinox · 06/03/2020 17:02

Thank you @GPwife2411

Faybian · 06/03/2020 17:02

@BilboBercow You have a cold. A runny nose, sore throat and no fever are the symptoms of a cold - not the coronavirus.

anywinewilldonow · 06/03/2020 17:02

At least, at the time that list was compiled, there were lots of sporadic cases by the looks of it, rather than a few larger clusters, but we shall see how things unfold

3rdNamechange · 06/03/2020 17:03

I'd be interested to know where the extra MHS facilities are and who on earth is going to staff them ??

middleager · 06/03/2020 17:03

Sorry Bilbo I see you have adult symptoms!

I believe the cough/breathing/fever are the main telltale symptoms.

cologne4711 · 06/03/2020 17:03

As it is not showing any cases in West Berkshire, so is not including the patient who passed away at Royal Berkshire hospital in Reading

Reading isn't West Berkshire either. West Berkshire covers the Newbury area.

peridito · 06/03/2020 17:04

I agree numbers in Italy ,Germany and France are worrying .

myrtleWilson · 06/03/2020 17:04

sansa will be right about 1-4. There are limitations on releasing data sets at such a small level that it could lead to the identification of an individual.

SansaSnark · 06/03/2020 17:07

I agree that in the UK, the number of spread out cases looks like this is still mainly returning travelers rather than UK based outbreaks. However, this to me means the government should be updating their travel advice- I'd expect to see advisories for France/Germany now, too, but there's nothing.

The 7 cases in Devon is a bit concerning- I know that Churston Ferrers school is shut, and GP surgeries are shutting in the area. There's also presumptive cases in primary schools nearby. Does anyone have any more details?
