How are there 15 cases without a location? They must have been tested by NHS at a location. This is very bizarre.

Oakmaiden · 06/03/2020 16:23

I’m guessing they are keeping the testing low to make the numbers look low.

Or there is a limit to the amount of testing they can do due to shortage of testing packs/personnel so they are concentrating on those who are higher risk.

Well, this is interesting. Re: limiting social interaction in MK and Reading, I don't see why when we have less confirmed cases than London or the SE? I do, however, want to see numbers by postcode/town. We are suggesting to MIL she limits her interaction as she is immunocompromised. But maybe too late, how would you know?

Cuddling57 · 06/03/2020 16:24

@Quartz2208
That is what I would like to know - at what point intervention is needed to prevent critical
On Sky News earlier the Doctor said if you have difficulty breathing seek immediate telephone medical advise.

LangTimeNoSee · 06/03/2020 16:25

So why are people in Singapore allowed detailed data about locations, sex and age, but we are only allowed regions?

This rationing of information will come back to bite the Govt as I agree that more of us are becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of transparency and for being treated like children.

Oakmaiden · 06/03/2020 16:26

The numbers of infected must be wrong...the tests are taking almost a week at some hospitals.

There are probably a lot more people who are currently on a "suspected" list and who have had tests. Some will be infected, others not. they can only report "confirmed" cases, so we are always going to be looking at historic figures.

Oakmaiden · 06/03/2020 16:26

GDPR?

Quartz2208 · 06/03/2020 16:29

Yep I woul say data protection rules come into play as well here

LangTimeNoSee · 06/03/2020 16:30

Ok - I'll settle for just a town or city, honestly. Grin

ShanghaiDiva · 06/03/2020 16:31

Also much smaller area, small population (5 million) so easier to monitor all of the information.

ofwarren · 06/03/2020 16:31

Other European countries are giving more information than us and they are under the same data protection rules

Faybian · 06/03/2020 16:31

Is the UK strategy to just let everyone get it and keep calm and carry on? Honest question, can anyone enlighten me? Is any other modern country following that strategy?

woodencoffeetable · 06/03/2020 16:32

Just Look at how much info they get about location of cases

what about gdpr?

Ontopofthesunset · 06/03/2020 16:32

Also Singapore is tiny - population smaller than London and geographically about the size of the Isle of Man. So you are dealing with a much smaller data set as well as a very different style of 'democratic one party rule'.

BambooBoobam · 06/03/2020 16:32

It’s not identifying data though is it?

‘A 66 year old female in Brighton has been diagnosed with Covid-19’.

‘Oh, that must be Sharon’.

anywinewilldonow · 06/03/2020 16:33

PHE are now producing breakdown by local authority area

anywinewilldonow · 06/03/2020 16:33

On the PHE website

sparkly72 · 06/03/2020 16:34

There was a case on LBC this morning of a woman treated by a dentist on fri after his trip to Italy, he became symptomatic on Sunday and self isolated and tested positive.
She hasn't been contacted by PHE to be tested or given advice, she is a known close contact of a positive patient.
The contain system isn't working

PestyMachtubernahme · 06/03/2020 16:34

Singapore has all self isolating people registered. They recieve checks twice a day, anyone failing to self isolate correctly is moved to compulsory isolation. They are ruthlessly efficient.

We don't really have a clue who here is self isolating.

CharlieTangoBanana · 06/03/2020 16:35

I’m very grateful for all the information on these threads I’ve been following since the first thread.
I’m in need of some perspective, I have a serious Respiritory condition and a secondary diagnosis of type two respiratory failure. I have prepped for self isolation and have enough supplies for a month. I’ve never really suffered from health anxiety, just quietly get on with life but this has tipped me over the edge and I just want to hunker down and isolate myself but that won’t do my family any good.
I’m avoiding crowded places and close contact but do I stop people visiting, stop my DD having her boyfriend visit from London this weekend, cancel a planned weekend away next week or do I carry on with sensible precautions until numbers really start to climb?
I can’t work out what’s sensible and what’s my mind thinking of worse case scenarios.

Ontopofthesunset · 06/03/2020 16:35

Well it's all there by local authority so you can now avoid Ealing and Harrow and go to Brent instead.

picklemewalnuts · 06/03/2020 16:35

Also Singapore is densely populated. Underneath each dot there are about 500 adults. It's tower blocks with extended families.
