AIBU to think people are overreacting to Coronavirus?

Okay, I'll admit that it's bad and a lot of people have died from it but if you read up on it you have a limited chance of actually getting sick. Most people who have gotten sick are elderly, underlying health issues or have worked themselves down such as the doctors/nurses who are working themselves sick to try and help others.
I think people are just being scared into thinking that it's worse than it should be.

After ds getting screened before entering Italy last week on a school trip & again before being allowed back in the airport here, I can't believe that a quick scan with a thermometer can prove whether or not anyone has the disease. I've just watched a man on Sky who is carrying the disease but has had no notifiable symptoms, he was on the cruise ship that was quarantined, I've heard on the radio that the only sure ways of testing are blood tests or throat swabs & unless they are going to blood test or swab every person arriving at an airport they are wasting their time.

It's not any worse than the flu and no one is scared of that
It's not cheap to vaccinate all primary school children, the elderly and vulnerable people.
This is another virus, which previously didn't exist, which will now have to be dealt with. Unless it can be contained, which now looks highly unlikely.
If the first person who got flu hadn't been able to pass it on, there would be no influenza in the world.
People do worry about flu, and even if they aren't entitled to a vaccine the NHS chose to pay for it themselves.
This new virus is just something else we have to deal with and be aware of in the same way we're now aware of HIV, which wasn't around once upon a time.

Just letting everyone know that we've set up a new topic within the Health section for threads discussing issues related to Coronavirus and will be moving threads over where appropriate. As this one's been brought to our attention, we're moving it over now.

I’d rather over react than under react. I’m actually not overly worried about me dying or even being seriously ill....like you say the chances are low if you’re healthy. I am a bit worried....the stats show it’s much worse than flu, etc.
I’m more concerned about there being a mass isolation/shut down and struggling to get food, etc.
