Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

1000 replies

mids2019 · 03/10/2026 10:32

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

Yes - people were also displaced all over Europe after the world wars - boundaries were redrawn etc. And no one disputes the legitimacy of those countries - Turkey, Pakistan, Jordan etc

Pakistan is an interesting comparison. A religious state, created to keep Muslims safe on the Indian subcontinent. Causing a massive displacement of people with over a million people dying far, far in excess of the Nakba with approx 15,000 deaths.
All the refugees were resettled eventually and there is no international outcry for people to return home. Why not?

Actually I'm glad you mentioned that. I was thinking about it after I made a post earlier. I think it should stay Israel. If it were going to become a one state solution with freedom for all, as I said in that post earlier, it is the Israelis who are going to compromise when they don't really need to. I think that at the very least the Palestinians should accept the name, especially as it is mentioned in the Quran. They can still be recognized as Palestinian Israelis.

That is a reasonable ask. However they would never level the name Israel long term even if it survive initially

Wherever Islam goes and gains any control even shared Islamists cleanse the place of anything seen as not Islamic. You see buildings, monuments, statues and historical areas destroyed. This can happen dramatically if they have full control or slowly using local powers or buying what they wish to destroy.

Yes Israel is in the Quran and the Quran tells its followers that Israel belongs to the Jews. Also what will happen to Muslims if they try to take it. However Islamists and even a large number of moderate muslims misunderstand the Quran on this matter either deliberately or have been taught by dodgy leaders. Some Qurans and other literature they give to children now even replace word Israel with Palestine.

You are the one who started out by asking me what the original translation was. I told you and then asked you to translate an Israeli chant. You ignored me and then asked me to translate the current version which I said I would do if you translate the Israeli version first. Still waiting.

I didn't ask for a translation, only a transcription. I don't know and have never heard any Israeli chants in the UK and haven't heard any on line or on TV either.
You however seem to have a good idea what the current Arabic version is of the "River to the Sea" chant is. I'm not sure why you're asking me to translate something I've never heard of when you were the one who told me you knew a chant in Arabic and I never said I knew one in Hebrew.
Maybe you're confusing me with someone else?

Squeezingwildoranges · 16/10/2026 21:47

You are all right. I give up. Israel are absolutely entitled to do what they like as they have a perfect justification because it is divinely ordained in Numbers 31. The attempts to rewrite history combined with whataboutisms is staggering. As this whole Zionist project is based on a religion, I really hope Proverbs 22:8 comes true.

That's interesting. If you're not being disingenuous, how did you know it was Hebrew.

Don't be like what. There is only so much time I can spend being honest while trying to discuss a serious human rights issue. This forum has an insignificant impact in itself on the global stage but change, history has shown, needs a series of small steps. All peaceful resolutions have come about by diplomacy resulting in compromise from both sides. Sometimes though, diplomacy lands on deaf ears and there is no chance of a resolution, even with compromise. From this board, and others, I have come to the conclusion, there will never be a diplomatic resolution with Israel for the Palestinians. Who I disrespect most are hypocritical liars who are too cowardly to declare their true feelings. Ineffectual cowards who post arguments, rejecting any possible solution, while realising if they post what they really think, it would sound monstrous. The likes of Ben Gvir and Smotrich are absolutely vile but at least they have the honesty to own their inhumanity. I don't know if this is an actually recognised psychiatric term but psychopathic coward should be.

"Some Qurans and other literature they give to children now even replace word Israel with Palestine". Just this sentence alone shows you have no idea what you are talking about. Muslims believe the Quran is unchanged from their prophet. Literally the word of God. If anyone believes that any Muslim would accept a rewrite of the Quran shows they are totally ignorant of the religion.

I note that the straw man poster has ignored this question.

Once you see the antisemitism in the double standard, you cannot unsee it.

It seems they do though, going by these links:

  1. Curriculums & Islamic Studies on Palestine
Quranic Tarbiyah Curriculum: This is a free, comprehensive Islamic curriculum designed for children ages 5 to 16+. Along with standard subjects like Quranic reflection (Tadabbur) and Iman, it includes specific lessons and modules dedicated to teaching children about Palestine, its prophets, and its deep spiritual significance in Islam. 1, 2]
  1. Specialized Children's Books with Quranic Connections
My Salah Mat — "The Key, the Olive Tree and the Nakba": While not a full translation of the entire Quran, the creators of the popular children's prayer mats published a dedicated kid's book that connects Quranic verses about Palestine (such as the spiritual status of Al-Aqsa) with the historical context of the land. Most notably, 100% of the proceeds from this book are donated directly to Palestinian charities.

Too cowardly to name names? I don’t think @Squeezingwildoranges is a strawman at all. Clearly they have a fair bit of knowledge on the subject. Most of the counter arguments I have seen on this thread are pathetic. As is trying to discredit another poster because you lack the same level of knowledge that they have. But, but, but……

Sounds like you're also being "too cowardly to name names" when pointing the finger about counter arguments being pathetic. Why not address the posters you want to address directly if you really feel some counter arguments are "pathetic".

It's not pathetic to see both sides of the coin btw.

Oranges said As this whole Zionist project is based on a religion, I really hope Proverbs 22:8 comes true.

Whoever sows injustice reaps calamity, and the rod they wield in fury will be broken.

This was directed against Israel but could just as easily apply to Hamas.

mids2019 · 17/10/2026 07:51

It does feel like pro Palestinians have shown their true colours and are now trying to defend (badly) their desire to erase the state of Israel with desperate lunges at history. Hello you could use such arguments to get rid of most states in the world of you look long enough at history so such an approach would be laughable if people did not take this seriously. Anyone for the return of Prussia while we're at it?

Those are just books that refer to passages in the Quran. You specifically said they had rewritten the Quran. Show us all a rewritten version of the Quran.

It’s hilarious you are trying to claim that someone identified only as “the straw man poster” doesn’t post straw men and yet you knew exactly who I was talking about.

Presumably it was her repeated failure to answer the Pakistan question that identified her. Which makes your accusation of cowardice all the more ironically amusing.

You’ve got me confused with another poster.

Squeezingwildoranges · 17/10/2026 08:24

This is nothing new. Most people realise that Israel intends to eradicate the Palestinians in the present. What a lot of people don't realise is they also want to eradicate them in the past by erasing their history. If the massacre never happened, why did Ben Gurion send a grovelling telegram of apology to King Abdullah I trying to disassociate the Haganah from the atrocity even though they were fully involved. More importantly, if it was a myth, why did Albert Einstein, Hannah Arendt, and other notable Jewish academics publish a letter in The New York Times in 1948 openly condemning the terrorist, Menachem Begin, explicitly calling Deir Yassin a massacre of a peaceful village?

Absolutely. The obsessive focus on Israel (both on here and in real life) is really telling.
It’s as if people discovered for the first time that war and displacement sadly exist and have always existed throughout history.

Because I can read. That’s what the post says: “for children” - you don’t think children in the U.K. are given the whole Quran to read in Arabic do you?

So they replace the use of Israel by Palestine in material they give to children - as though that’s what was originally written in the Quran.

Which is what she said

There have been other genocides as well. All of them internationally condemned. What is unique is that I've never heard a perpetrator claim to be the victim.
