Conflict in the Middle East

Is the green party starting to regret it's association with Islamists?

The green party, ostensibly about climate protection and general progressive values seems to have gotten into bed with Islamist sympathisers and the amount of anti semitism and basic hatred of their own country is now obvious.

The green party now at least locally are known as a party that has sympathies towards all manner of Islamist causes including Hamas's objective to wipe Israel of the face of the Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if they produce a motion declaring climate change a Jewish conspiracy........

Th nakba started before the breakout of the Arab-Israeli war. The Deir Yassin massacre happened a month before the war even broke out.

But after 29th November 1947 when the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution recommending the adoption of the Partition Plan for Palestine.

IOW as part of a war by the local Arabs (who had no concept of themselves as Palestinians by the way, despite your eye rolling on another post) against the Jews. Who were, ironically enough, often referred to as Palestinians at that time.

Weird how Gaza’s population has grown about 3% whilst a genocide is taking place. The Greens etc are just antisemitic, they don’t care that Christians are being slaughtered around the globe by Muslims.

To be fair they don't care about the more moderate muslims being slaughtered around the world by Islamic extremists either

The very Islamic extremists they often seek to champion

Actually many migrated to Israel voluntarily around the time of the creation of Israel and although a significant number were expelled it was over much longer period of time. But what has that got to do with this? The initial point was why are there still Palestinians (rather than Arab Israelis 🙄), my point was that there are far fewer than there should be.

You keep shifting the goalposts.
You started by claiming that removal of the local population was 'always part of the Zionist plan'.

When pp pointed out that millions of Palestinian Arabs are full citizens of Israel today, you told them to read about the Nakba.

850,000 Jews were also displaced, but you choose to downplay their suffering as a 'voluntary migration', while at the same time you emphasise the Palestinian refugee crisis, even though some of them also chose to leave voluntarily.

Your bias is clearly showing.

What on earth is the left of the left and do you get a seat belt for that particular white knuckle ride

(Debbie is alright, has my sense of humour and often spot on with it)

That’s what you take from my post? Ok - you didn’t like how I expressed myself - try this.
I am left wing, I am in left wing organisations, many on the left particularly the hard left are anti semites.
They hate Jews and will join any organisation they can to express this. It’s vile.

I have a sense of humour but I don’t think any of this is funny.

No, your attempted point was:

No, that’s not all Zionism is, from its earliest inception removal of the local population was always part of the plan

and my question was designed to point out how ridiculous this claim was. Do try to keep up.

Jew hatred is far right, why is she trying to pin all this on the left? We have and always will be about tolerance and love for all. For crying out loud its in the bleedin name 'progressive'. I'm sick of us taking the blame for all the hatred in this world that is being caused by the rise of the far right. Stop playing into their hands!

Don’t be a simpleton. You think the Greens are a far right party?!

Sorry if you found my question rude or something. I genuinely have never heard anyone describing them self as that. Left, left leaning, centre left or hard left seems to be what I hear the most. Therefore I had to ask for a description because I am genuinely curious in nature. Thank you for the explanation. Think we are probably of around the same politically actually. Not sure I totally fit in with any left groups but so be it.

Humour wise a little bit of satire I find breaks up a far bit of tension. If we can't take make fun at the haters they have won as far as I am concerned. So much we could cry or worry about is happening right now. However I do understand not everyone feels the same.

I think you just misread

“I am on the left and of the left”

as

”I am on the left of the left”

Is the current green party rhetoric that we have seen closer to far right thinking than it is to traditional left wing thinking. Well something like that.

Possible

On a roll today it seems

Written some barely understandable posts on various threads in the last few days too. Obviously those that may recognise me know I don't often proof read and my English can be questionable at time. However even for me this is not good. I can normally chase off fuckwitts on my own and used to clean up many a thread. Might have finally hit old age or something 😥

Horseshoe theory plots on two axes, left vs right and liberal vs authoritarian, with the moderate majority broadly liberal and the further from this you get, the more authoritarian you get, so the far left and the far right come together. Which makes sense because when you can’t win people over with your ideas, you have to force them on people.

Oh yes I know horseshoe theory or the old 'left and the right shaking hands behind the sofa' as used to explain it to people.

True that Far right and far left both end up turning to force when talking isn't working on everyone.

There is a way that they both tend to decide they are superior than others who don't think that way. Depending on how far gone they are it turns into supremacy/fascism. The idea of listening to the opinions of people that think differently or anyone challenging their beliefs is too much for them. Therefore they will do anything to stop different ideas being heard.

As do the Arab nations and Islamic fundamentalists. They need to change their treatment of Palestinians. They do not have Palestinian interests at heart. Instead they foment anger and actively work against peace. Iran and Hamas being perfect examples of this.

For many years Israel and Jordan lived in de facto peace, but Jordan could not actually make peace for fear of the reaction of the other Arab nations. Sadat was assassinated for making peace between Egypt and Israel.

It is Israel, no one else, that has been killing, on average, one child a day since there was supposed to be a ceasefire in Gaza.

No idea why I didn't clock that earlier but makes total sense

Have we even replied to each other today?

Goodness you got something to hide then or what? I am all ears if you do my darling, like a bit of gossip.

You can be rather literal sometimes can't you, is there a reason for that?

I said it because I am not aware that we have, as in why are you asking me this question? It is a round about why of speaking but fairly common in Britain.

The way in which the British especially the English speak can be confusing sometimes. Negatives that mean positive and positives that mean negative. Think I am particularly good at talking confusingly for some if not use to it.

Probably should be clearer in my replies but I learn so much about people sometimes by just posting like I talk.

Anyway what do you think is going to happen with the Green party? Will Zippy as some of us like to call him be replaced in the next few months?

I actually have no idea whether they will change Polanski. Had he won the recent by-election I would say no but the fact he lost isn't going to help his cause. I personally think he is too ineffectual to be a party leader, even a fringe party like the Greens. The fact he made an excuse in order not to vote on the Zionism is Racism policy is an example of this. A true leader would have expressed an opinion, one way or the other, not simply sit on the fence by saying he was too busy. Maybe one day in the future, the Greens may become a serious contender for government, but they are nowhere near there yet and they will go through many leaders before they get there.

moderate · 12/10/2026 09:26

Imagine being so ignorant of current events, let alone world history, that you could claim with a straight face that nobody but Israel is killing children.

But of course this is the way that modern antisemitism in the west manifests itself now. You can’t just express open hatred for the Jews, so you have to hold Israel to a ludicrous double standard instead.

Once you see the way this works, you cannot unsee it. It is everywhere from the absolute death toll (much lower in Gaza than in other current conflicts) to the relative death toll (incredibly low given urban warfare with schools and hospitals shielding tunnels full of death-cultists; the IDF fire tap-tap warnings and drop leaflets ahead of ordnance) to the very fact that no other country has to suffer a special word so that you can be anti its very existence (time and again, useful idiots ignore questions about why they don’t rail against other contemporaneous partitions like Pakistan).

Squeezingwildoranges · 12/10/2026 10:36

Imagine someone being so polarised in their support for a political ideology that it is completely unconditional to the extent that no matter what atrocities are committed in the name of that ideology, they will be excused, justified or simply denied. Using any tool available in an attempt to defend the absolute immorality such as whataboutisms, blatant lies and attempts to rewrite history. Imagine knowing full well the actual agenda was always to commit an internationally defined crime against humanity, an ethnic cleansing of an entire indigenous population, resulting in a total physical destruction of their identity and culture, a definition of genocide, and supporting it.

Neverstopwondering · 12/10/2026 11:10

Has someone invaded Jordan? Totally missed that. Just joking............

I think the Green party won't be a real contender until they silence the numerous voices within the party that are at conflict with each other. If they manage that then it won't be numerous elders until they are a contender, it will be one after Zippy for the transition to happen then the next one will be a heavy weight that will remain leader for a very very long time. That is standard Islamist or communist take over pattern seen elsewhere

No but they have clearly been infiltrated by the far right. I know people who support the Greens and they are most peaceful and tolerant people on the planet. They might call for persecution of the white working class but never people of Jewish descent. This is madness!
