This journalist admits that his reporting from Gaza was not accurate because he was afraid of retaliation from Hamas.
Why have so many believed every report from Gaza journalists?

Did you read the statement he put out regarding this?

Did you???

Mrcollinswave · 30/09/2026 09:11

Did you???

Considering they copied and pasted the whole statement on page one, then yes.

Moi?

'Deranged and cruel'. Oh no that's so hurtful!

Honestly, I don't care what someone like you thinks of me, so don't worry.

Was that because I said the Palestinians don't deserve a State or because I mentioned their appalling history of barbarism?

You must know, with your extensive knowledge of the legal definition of genocide and ethnic cleansing, that under international law, exemplified by the 1933 Montevideo Convention—an entity must possess an effective government to be recognised as a State.

Hamas and the PA can hardly be classed as an effective government by any stretch of the imagination, which makes a complete mockery of the anti-Israel Governments who have recognised it, including our own.

AnyfoolcanknowThepointistounderstand · 30/09/2026 14:38

I am Irish btw, from an area that most definitely doesn't want the Brits out.

Likewise.
Time will tell. I will bookmark this thread for the future. We’ll see who is historic for horrific and demonic terrorist attacks.

Originally, Palestinians were attacked by Zionist paramilitary groups like the Irgun and Lehi, alongside the Haganah. They were recognized terrorist groups. They were the ones who blew up the King David Hotel, murdered Lord Moyne, and even assassinated Folke Bernadotte, the man who saved tens of thousands of Jews from the holocaust. During the 1948 Nakba, these groups went through Palestine and systematically wiped out hundreds of historic villages, destroying the local culture and turning the survivors into refugees. They targeted everyone, men, women, the elderly and children. The modern IDF is the direct successor to these terrorist groups and we are seeing the exact same tactics used today. Even villages like Deir Yassin, which explicitly refused protection from Arab militias because they just wanted to live in peace, were targeted. Because they had no protection, they were completely vulnerable to these militias which actually made them an easier hence more desirable target. There was a lot of talk after Oct 7th about children being thrown into ovens, but that lie was actually based on one of the atrocities from Deir Yassin. The terrorists tried to force a village baker, Hussain al Shareef, to throw his young son, Abdel Rauf, into the bakery oven. When he refused, they threw the boy in themselves and then forced the father in too.
Israel never had any real intention to make peace. Any attempt to say they did is simply disingenuous. What is happening right now is simply the fulfilment of Plan Dalet and Disengagement 710 is just the modern version of it.

Absolutely heartbreaking, the stuff of Nightmares.

Yup but apparently it is the Israelis who are the only victims.

Its also only half of the story.

Those Israeli terrorist groups were formed initially to protect the Jewish farming community from Arab violence.

I hope I don't need to tell you this as I think most people do know, but for every Israeli atrocity there is a corresponding Arab one. Look up the Arab revolt as a start. The Hebron massacre, another example.

Everyone has picked a side I know and everyone is welcome to do so. But I wish we wouldn't one side it as much as this poster always does- its very much more complicated than that.

When we one side it we fail to understand the situation properly.

Yes its deliberate Oranges, I'm not replying to you directly.

I agree, it's like they have no idea of the actualy history and how both sides have done really awful things. It's really not black and white at all. That's a very young childlike approach.

Squeezingwildoranges · 30/09/2026 15:44

I know the history perfectly well. I would love to see a post from you which doesn't paint Israel as the only victims. I was countering an equally one sided post. Doesn't mean that what I said isn't true.

"Those Israeli terrorist groups were formed initially to protect the Jewish farming community from Arab violence."???
Now I've got an image in my mind of Stern, Shamir and Begin standing in a field with pitchforks and piece of hay hanging from their mouths trying to protect farmers. Hysterical.

Since 1948, innocent Palestinians have been the main victims of this conflict.

There you go!

OnePeppyFatball · 30/09/2026 15:57

Why are pro Israelis allowed to be one sided, and pro Palestinians not?

Then I will also agree that innocent Israelis have also been victims. I will also say the majority of victims on both sides are the ones who would just like to live in peace. That is the tragedy of all this.

“Most Irish would like the Brits out, there is often trouble from the settlers. I would never wish for them to be ethnically cleansed from the north of Ireland even though they’ve no claim to begin with”

This is such an odd thing to say.
By “settlers” I assume you are referring to the Ulster Plantation of the 1600s? Are you really suggesting that people whose families have lived in a region for over 300 years have “no claim” to it?

Northern Ireland isn’t really analogous to Israel / Palestine.

I think we can hopefully all agree on that

I hope we do but it has to be an equitable peace where Palestinians are not having to live as third class citizens with no rights. I'm just saying because at this moment, the current Israeli government, which might be gone in a few weeks but I suspect it won't, will never agree to.

It was a metaphor of two groups of who have been in conflict since the dawn of time, living side by side, not loving it but preferring it to the past.

Similarly the UK could have reduced NI to dust for the murderers in the IRA who slaughtered innocent British people.

Thankfully they saw the big picture. As most innocent Catholics were terrified of crossing the IRA as I am sure many Palestine people were terrified of Hamas.

If the IRA had committed atrocities such as Oct 7th ( rapes, murders, torture) as well as taking babies , the old , disabled and women hostage, then I think there would have been a very harsh response from the UK and I think the British public would have supported a very harsh response. . ( note - I’m not suggesting that they would have been as terrifyingly harsh as the Israeli response. )
The IRA was a murderous and criminal organisation and they did terrible things to their own people ( like Hamas) eg the murder of Jean McGinville, a mother of 13.
However they never quite stooped to the depravity of Hamas.

Between the IRA and their rival counterparts in NI they were pretty brutal in terms of civilian casualties, kidnappings and torture, murder and not forgetting the children who were killed through the troubles. They didn’t kidnap babies but they beat children to death and burned children alive in their homes. 186 children died in troubles 80% Catholic. Not counting the children whose life was ruined ending up in care as the parents were murdered.
But sure there is no comparison.
Yet people have managed to create a reasonable peaceful two state solution.
Bulldozing loyalist areas wasn’t an option.,

There was no equivalent to October 7th. Festival goers raped, murdered, kidnapped. Whole families taken hostage. Then murdered. Hostages starved and abused sexually and physically for years…
Psychological torture of hostages and their families .
I think October 7th was on a different scale.
