This journalist admits that his reporting from Gaza was not accurate because he was afraid of retaliation from Hamas.
Why have so many believed every report from Gaza journalists?

Only described as that by people who don't know what they are talking about a prefer a juicy soundbite to sensible analysis. Your implication here is actually disgraceful.

The people who I think are disgraceful; and that is the nicest word I can use; are the people who are rounding up two million people into a smaller and smaller area, while starving them, denying them medicine, bombing daily while there is supposed to be ceasefire and using high technology ordinance to kill their children. The only people who are more 'disgraceful' than that are the apologists who defend those actions as somehow justified.

Because they elected Hamas. And we saw exactly what happens when Hamas get through three years go.

So it's the Palestinians own fault.
Nice.

SharonEllis · 29/09/2026 18:16

And @EmeraldShamrock000 I don't think anyone thinks its ok.

I think a lot of members of the IDF are. Netanyahu thinks it is for the best.. Many citizens have been convinced the benefits of not having the Palestinian people living close will make their life much safer, even if the actions mean bulldozing the area to the point of nothing left. I don’t think this makes the citizens of Israel safer. It has made it unsafe for them around the world.

OnePeppyFatball · 29/09/2026 21:58

Just the Hamas lies been taken in?

The number of civilian deaths far exceed other past conflicts legally ruled as genocides.

The civilian death rate wasn’t low for an armed conflict in recent modern times.

Genocide is more complex than how many civilians did a state kill. Intention is the key to genocide and the hardest to prove. In fact, a state can commit genocide without killing anyone according to the current legal definition of it.

It is better to leave the question of genocide or not genocide to the experts at the ICJ.

Edited

What is the number of civilian deaths?

Do you have a number?

Would the civilian death toll include the 30,000+ men and boys Hamas recruited from Oct 7th or would it only include known Hamas terrorists the IDFcan identify?

Does it include combatants from the other known terrorist orgs like the PIJ, PFLP, Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades etc,who have collaborated with Hamas?

Does it include the non-conflict related deaths of between 5,000-7,000 per year equating to 15,000 to 21,000 over 3 years?

Does it include suspected 'collaborators' with Israel who have been executed?

Does it include deaths during clan wars between rival factions?

Does it include deaths from misfired rockets fired from and into civilian areas, booby trapped infrastructure and land mines?

What about buildings destabilised by tunnels underneath? I doubt Hamas work to safety regulations especially as they often used children {who often died) to build them.

What about kids as young as 10 used by Hamas as messengers and couriers, even transporting explosives hidden inside vegetable bags, scouting troop movements near active combat zones or on rooftops with communication devices to watch troop movements? That level of involvement could cause death to IDF soldiers so would they be classed as combatants?

Nice.

The 44.45% of the Palestinian population (parents of the under 18's now) who voted for Hamas in 2006 knew exactly what they were voting for.

They weren't voting for democratic leadership with a 4 year term.

Hamas Charter was published in 1988 and was clear that the aim was to establish an Islamic State over the land including Israel via violent jihad as a 'holy duty'.

41.43 % voted for Fatah who also had a track history of terrorist attacks on Israel and currently controls the West Bank with it's 'we pay for slaying Israelis' policy.

Sadly the only truly peaceful party, The Third Way, got only 2.41% of the vote.

The Third Way was a secular, centrist party created specifically to offer an alternative to the corruption of Fatah and the militancy of Hamas. Its platform focused on clean governance, economic reform, state-building, and pursuing a negotiated two-state solution with Israel entirely through peaceful, diplomatic means. Led by the economist Salam Fayyad and the prominent academic Hanan Ashrawi.

Yes, it's absolutely the Palestinians fault.

The suffering they brought onto their children is their fault too.

I have never heard any of that before. If you have any references to verify any of that, I would love to see them. As this thread does mention propaganda, I would prefer non partisan sources.

Ploma · 30/09/2026 01:49

Yes, OP. The onslaught of outright lies and lies by omission over the last three years has been staggering. I have never seen such crazed DARVO as I see levelled towards Israel both in the media/on social media and on these threads. It's insane.

Really, you have never heard of any of that before? Perhaps your sources are not as non partisan as you thought they were. Would logic suggest that you might have thought of these things as likely? And then perhaps have looked into them before now?

So put your money where your mouth is and show us these figures from official, non- Israeli sources.

SingingShrews · 30/09/2026 07:30

It's interesting that me saying I that I don't care about ripped pieces of paper gets a huge reaction but blaming innocent Palestinian civillians for the complete destruction of Gaza and the killings and forced starvation of their children doesn't illicit any reaction at all.

Really throwing it back to the 2023/2024 Israeli propaganda of 'There are no innocents in Gaza'.

Hmmm.

You better hope and pray that the many leaders standing to say that Netanyahu was aware isn’t proven to be true.

Imagine if people said it was Israel’s fault for keeping the population in an open prison.

So if a population votes in a party that has a policy of destruction towards another country, any attack/killing of their population by that other country in the fault of the citizens.
Interesting logic.

WildWindySeascape · 30/09/2026 08:07

I have also been alarmed by the west’s (BBC looking at you) willingness to believe narratives from Hamas. They are an evil regime who intentionally murder Jewish
people and call for the destruction of Israel, they hate gay people and oppress women. There has not been enough of a spotlight on this evil regime.

Israel has not helped itself by refusing to allow independent and verified journalists into the region to report. This was so stupid because it has allowed Hamas’ narratives via their ‘journalists’ to be the only narratives coming from the warzone.

I have not heard or seen any reports where Israel justifies the deliberate sniping of children on the basis that they were classed as combatants because they were involved in the fighting. Under the Geneva conventions, even a child loses its civilian status if it is actively taking part in hostilities. Instead all it does is try to deny the multiple reports from various credible independent sources like foreign doctors that Israel use children as targets for sniper practice.

A better title would have been why are the West no longer taken in by Israeli lies.

That's not "a better title".

That's a different thread entirely, which people can start if they want.

Why are we still out here pretending that 'calling for the destruction' of any where is worse than the actual destruction of somewhere. Which is more 'evil' talking about something or doing that thing? Israel 'has not helped itself' by killing, maiming and starving hundreds of thousands of children and leaving their homes and lives looking like this.

The reason Israel won't allow scrutiny by independent journalists is obvious to the whole world. The scale of the destruction from the latest Google Earth photos shows exactly what Israel's intention was from day one. Problem is, considering the reports, not just from Egypt, but the UAE as well, and the fact Israel did not act on the information, the question has to be asked, when was day one.

There has been a fair bit on exposure on this:

BBC accused of bias for calling dead terrorists ‘journalists’

What narratives?
Could you be more specific as to the lies BBC has told based on Hamas narratives?

From the Telegraph dated 26th September 2026:

The BBC has reported the deaths of 53 “journalists” in Gaza who have been claimed as terrorists by Hamas and other groups.

Some of them took part in the Oct 7 attacks and several have been hailed as “martyrs” by their terrorist organisations.

The majority of the reports describing them as journalists appeared on BBC Arabic, which The Telegraph exposed last year for widespread anti-Israeli bias.

The BBC has told The Telegraph that it is now reviewing the inclusion of the militants in its coverage.

Many of the supposed journalists are pictured on social media dressed in military fatigues and holding weapons and, in some cases, wearing headbands associated with terrorist groups.

When the conflict in Gaza began, BBC Arabic began publishing a list of journalists who had been killed, which it regularly updated and which remains on its website. More than 180 Palestinians are on the list, along with four Israelis.

Of the names on the BBC list, 53 have links to terrorist organisations. Ten of them have been described as journalists either on the English-language BBC News website or on BBC and BBC Arabic, with the remaining 43 appearing solely on BBC Arabic.

That photo causes a physical discomfort in my heart.
I have read endless comments to excuse, deflect, rarely condemn the atrocities.
I have always acknowledged the suffering of the people on October 7th. I can’t dismiss one human life over another.
The death toll may be low in comparison to the destruction hence the reason people keep saying “It is not a genocide”.
Palestine has been ethnically cleansed by Israel.
There is no option to stay.
It is uninhabitable.
Israel will never be forgiven.
The brave Jewish people protesting in NY against Netanyahu were embraced warmly in the crowd.
