Reproductive violence, this needs to stop

“Israel’s war in Gaza has led to a 41% fall in births in the territory and high numbers of maternal deaths, miscarriages, newborn mortality and premature births, two reports on the impact of the conflict on pregnant women, babies and maternity care reveal.
Two reports by Physicians for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Global Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School, and Physicians for Human Rights–Israel (PHRI) document how the war has led to high figures for maternal and neonatal mortality and forced births in dangerous conditions and systematically dismantled health services – consequences of “a deliberate intention of preventing births among Palestinians, meeting the legal criteria of the genocide convention,” researchers said.

Yes, this is one of the horrors that happen in war when an artificial food shortage is deliberately imposed on a besieged civilian population. It’s medieval level warfare.

Well, when one party's standards and beliefs are medieval, it's hardly surprising how it pans out.

GiantBranch · 19/01/2026 07:08

what has this point got to do with Israel blocking maternity units from accessing Gaza ??

It corroborates the fact that the drop in live births is NOT due to women choosing not to get pregnant but rather due to being refused basic maternity care. It highlights the point that in a war zone, women are often raped and impregnated because of the collapse of law and order. (Being forced into sex work to not starve to death is still a form of rape.)

Medieval warfare creates medieval living conditions no matter who it is imposed on. You should know enough about history to know that if the same happened here to London, then yes London men would be raping London women and London women, especially mothers with children, would be selling their bodies for a crust of bread to whichever armed gangs were seizing what little food there was.

Just shame

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jan/17/child-mortality-crisis-continues-in-gaza-with-more-than-100-killed-since-ceasefire

here’a report of another recent death in the British Medical Journal, gives an idea of the conditions

“Gazans are struggling to survive in makeshift shelters after widespread heavy rain, flooding, and frigid temperatures caused sewage to overflow and brought high rates of respiratory infections and hypothermia.

It has been reported that at least 25 people died in recent weeks as a result of the extreme weather conditions, including a 29 day old baby who died from hypothermia.

The baby boy died two hours after arriving at the Médecins Sans Frontières supported paediatric ward of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza. Despite the staff’s best efforts he could not be saved. Bilal Abu Saada, MSF’s nursing team supervisor at the hospital, said the tragedy was not an isolated event: “Children are losing their lives because they lack the most basic items for survival.

“Babies are arriving to the hospital cold, with near death vital signs. Even our best efforts are not enough. They say the war has ended, but people are still having to fight for their lives.”
In the past month the arrival of winter, alongside the prevention of vital aid entering Gaza that could help combat the poor conditions, has further deteriorated an already desperate situation..”

There are no freezing temperatures. The information coming out of Gaza is often inaccurate. I’ve seen plenty of things that simply cannot be true, one emaciated child in a family of normal weight people is not suffering from starvation they are suffering from a medical condition. News has been published uncritically again and again. It matters whether things are true or not. Remeber when there were reports of imminent mass deaths from starvation and then someone went “oh hang on, that looks inaccurate”. It had already been reported over and over before someone quietly retracted it.

It will absolutely be true that women cannot access maternity services because they are in a war. Same as the women in Sudan, same as women in Ukraine. This is not unique to Israel. They are shooting people in hospitals right now in Iran.

People have become so brainwashed here that they literally have let go of any critical thinking.

Of when some bastard is hoarding it. The hostages talked about the stockpiles in the tunnels as well.

If one child dies of hypothermia then we can be asking why not thojsands. This is much about an unfortunate family's failure to keep their child warm and we don't know the exact events leading to this tragic event. We can't simply blame everything on Israel with the home again of storing up Jew hate.

This article suggests hypothermia is a known condition for babies born out of hospital and indeed there are deaths in the UK due to it. Infant mortality is not unique to Gaza but what is the debatable use of mortality statistics to continually show Israel in a poor light to prop up an ailing pro Palestinian campaign. Since military action has stopped it seems some still want to look to health care deficiency to continue the narrative of 'genocide' as that word has done so much for the Hamas cause.

Bristol study finds babies born out of hospital risk hypothermia

A new study finds only 2.7% of babies born this way have their temperatures checked after birth.

Maybe if Israel didn’t bomb all of the hospitals there would be some to birth in.

There are hospitals, people are posting about children being taken to them. Jesus christ. Just google it. The information is out there.

The motive and sentiment of the overnight posters is pretty clear.

Wtf lol. Whats YOUR motive? This is a public forum, people post their opinions. What on earth are you people on about.

Lemme guess you think I’m mossad LOL. This reminds me of that dimwit who thought mossad had stolen his shoes.

Its fairly common on here for insinuations that 'pro-Israel posters' are paid. Very unpleasant!

mids2019 · 20/01/2026 08:18

Obviously there are deficiencies of healthcare in Gaza. There has been a war there and infant mortality is sadly a feature of many developing areas like Gaza. Restoration will come in time as the peace takes hold but I question those who wish continue to blame all of Gaza's ills on Israel when you have Hamas refusing to disarm and continue its mantra of hate.

No I think you're the son of Hamas, the Mossad spy. Fess up x

I wasn't suggesting that at all I was thinking more in the line of derail and dehumanise but you crack on with your wild accusations

I won't derail any further the thread is meant be focusing on Two reports by Physicians for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Global Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School, and Physicians for Human Rights–Israel (PHRI) document how the war has led to high figures for maternal and neonatal mortality and forced births in dangerous conditions and systematically dismantled health services – consequences of “a deliberate intention of preventing births among Palestinians, meeting the legal criteria of the genocide convention,” researchers said.

Shame posters feel the need to deflect from it

We must be paid to support Israel amiright? (sarcasm).

Just another example of antisemitism.

I wasn't accusing you of anything but its a simple fact that we get these insinuations all the time. They are deleted if too explicit.

Oh no, they don't blame Hamas for reproductive violence or suggest they need to stop - only Israel for some reason.

Not clear at all, can you point out where someone accused posters on this thread of posters being paid by Israel which then led to your accusation of antisemitism.

No one did - just the usual flock alighting on every thread that expresses concern for Palestinians to hijack by denying, derailing and derailing. Tedious.

Ellen2shoes · 20/01/2026 14:12

Denying, denigrating, derailing ad nauseam

You accused overnight posters of having "motives".

In the past (not on this thread perhaps) pro Pals have accused pro Israel supporters of being paid to post a certain way.

There were many of this sort of accusation at one time but it may be that MN has deleted them all now. This is what @SharonEllis mentioned after your mysterious mention of "motives" and I was agreeing with her that it is a common tactic which in itself is antisemitic.

Note: I did not accuse anyone of accusing people of being paid by Israel on this thread though "motives" could be interpreted that way before you explained what you meant. It's not great to suggest posters have ulterior motives for their beliefs FYI it's actually quite rude.

People with a different opinion to you are allowed to express themselves - it's called opinions and not motives.

Ellen2shoes · 20/01/2026 14:46

God forbid that anyone should have a motive for posting.
