“Israel’s war in Gaza has led to a 41% fall in births in the territory and high numbers of maternal deaths, miscarriages, newborn mortality and premature births, two reports on the impact of the conflict on pregnant women, babies and maternity care reveal.
Two reports by Physicians for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Global Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School, and Physicians for Human Rights–Israel (PHRI) document how the war has led to high figures for maternal and neonatal mortality and forced births in dangerous conditions and systematically dismantled health services – consequences of “a deliberate intention of preventing births among Palestinians, meeting the legal criteria of the genocide convention,” researchers said.

No one on this thread has expressed any Pro Hamas sentiment, most definitely I have not.
i have no idea what argument you are trying to make with your random points? 1,450 years ago????
are you attempting to justify Israel withholding aid from pregnant Palestinian women because what?

Have you considered it’s not fucking Isreal withholding it. Ffs.

In further relevant reporting today:

”Newborn baby becomes eighth to die of hypothermia in Gaza this winter
Despite the ceasefire, more than 100 children have died in the territory since October

A 27-day-old baby died in Gaza on Saturday from severe cold, bringing the number of children in the region who have died of hypothermia since the start of the current winter season to eight, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Medical sources confirmed to the news agency Anadolu that the newborn, named Aisha Ayesh al-Agha, died as a result of freezing temperatures, and that when she was brought to Nasser hospital in Khan Younis it was already too late to save her.
No further details were revealed about the infant’s condition prior to her death.

Two recent reports by Physicians for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Global Human Rights Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School and Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, document how the war has led to high figures for maternal and neonatal mortality.

The document reports “2,600 miscarriages, 220 pregnancy-related deaths, 1,460 premature births, over 1,700 underweight newborns and over 2,500 infants requiring neonatal intensive care” between January and June 2025.

Mothers in Gaza are forced into unthinkable choices, routinely compromising their own health and survival to meet their children’s most basic needs. With maternal and newborn care dismantled by fuel shortages, blocked medical supplies, mass displacement and relentless bombardment, relocating to overcrowded tent encampments has become the only remaining option.

I’ve lived in the middle east, it can get cold but rarely sub freezing, weather in Gaza this week is between 13-22 degrees. Its chilly but not freezing, the information is easy to check. . You have to use common sense here.

It’s awful that a child died but I’m really sceptical of some of these claims. I’ve seen pictures of emaciated children with perfectly healthy mothers while people will claim the child is starving when they clearly have a pretty awful medical condition. Few mothers will eat well while their children starve. It makes it hard to sort fact from fiction.

I think the treatment of women is really pertinent. We have all seen the conflict damage in Gaza and yet we are somehow meant to believe women were making a free choice to be pregnant rather than wait until a cessation of violence and a reconstruction of infrastructure within the strip.

Come on....many of these pregnancies truly weren't a free choice as most women would not consider bringing children into a warzone.

There was the horrible sex for aid thing no-one wanted to talk about. Palestinian men exchanging sex for aid.

Double checked, coldest it got in Gaza in the last 2 weeks was 8 degrees, which is definitely cold. But the highest recorded temperature was 28 degrees.

These are interesting articles with reference to this argument. We don't know the extent of vaccine hesitancy or formula milk aversion in a religious society like Gaza. Again these factors are driven to the background when looking at the use of such things in society.

Your point? ??Did vaccine hesitancy create a force field blocking vaccinations at the border? No Israel blocked syringes getting in

here’a report of another recent death in the British Medical Journal, gives an idea of the conditions

“Gazans are struggling to survive in makeshift shelters after widespread heavy rain, flooding, and frigid temperatures caused sewage to overflow and brought high rates of respiratory infections and hypothermia.

It has been reported that at least 25 people died in recent weeks as a result of the extreme weather conditions, including a 29 day old baby who died from hypothermia.

The baby boy died two hours after arriving at the Médecins Sans Frontières supported paediatric ward of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza. Despite the staff’s best efforts he could not be saved. Bilal Abu Saada, MSF’s nursing team supervisor at the hospital, said the tragedy was not an isolated event: “Children are losing their lives because they lack the most basic items for survival.

“Babies are arriving to the hospital cold, with near death vital signs. Even our best efforts are not enough. They say the war has ended, but people are still having to fight for their lives.”
In the past month the arrival of winter, alongside the prevention of vital aid entering Gaza that could help combat the poor conditions, has further deteriorated an already desperate situation..”

MSF also warned that the “harsh winter weather combined with the already dire living conditions is increasing health risks.”
Claire Nicolet, MSF’s emergency coordinator in Gaza, told The BMJ on 30 December that the aid agency was already receiving many patients, including young children, with hypothermia and respiratory infections, just a few weeks into the season.
She said, “The problem is that the winter is still at the beginning: January and February will be even more difficult for the population.
“The fact that there is a [partial] blockade [on aid] still, and the number of trucks entering is insufficient, means that very often we don’t receive enough for the population in terms of blankets and hygiene items.”
She also emphasised that the violence has not ended. “ We can hear bombing, we can hear airstrikes. And so the population is still being displaced again and again.”

From the same article

“The UN reported that Israel had blocked 107 requests for the entry of relief materials such as blankets, winter clothes, and tools and material to maintain and operate water, sanitation and hygiene services in the first month since the ceasefire agreement.6
“As Gaza is battered by heavy rains and storms, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians continue to struggle in flooded and broken makeshift tents. MSF calls on Israeli authorities to urgently allow a massive scale-up of aid into the strip,” MSF said in a statement.

There is a natural vaccine hesitancy within the Palestinian territories but suddenly that hesitancy seems to be of little concern when you can Israel of blocking them?

Your article is from 2021 @mids2019
it has no relevance to Israel blocking medical aid this year specifically syringes for childhood vaccinations as detailed by the UN
curious as to your motivation for posting can you explain ?

What are you alleging? That the Iranian government is making the Israeli military kill Palestinian babies?

I don’t understand the need to excuse atrocities and war crimes. We are supposed to be better than Iran and Hamas, not their useful idiots being manipulated into to carrying out what many experts have called and continue to warn is a genocide against innocent civilians.

The irony.

Hamas have repeatedly chosen co-opting humanitarian aid for their own benefit.

There’s not much evidence of that, but there is a ton of evidence of Israel blocking aid.

Netanyahu has also confessed to paying armed criminal gangs in Gaza to loot humanitarian aid was allowed in.

So of the footage we have seen of looting, it is unknown how much was Hamas and how much was the Gaza crime gangs Netanyahu paid to loot the aid.

Yes, this is one of the horrors that happen in war when an artificial food shortage is deliberately imposed on a besieged civilian population. It’s medieval level warfare.
