Death is death whether you were a victim of the October 7th attacks or a victim of the daily attacks on Gaza in the 714 days since then.

But what kicked this particular war off?

What kicked off the war depends on how you define ‘the war.’ The roots go back decades: the ongoing occupation, displacement, land confiscation, blockade of Gaza, repeated military operations, and restrictions on Palestinians’ basic rights. October 7th was a horrific attack, but it didn’t happen in a vacuum- it was part of a much longer cycle of oppression and violence.

I think we can all agree that nothing can justify the fact that 20,000 children have been killed since October 2023, possibly much more according to independent estimates.

This isn’t the gotcha you think it is. People here have repeatedly condemned the atrocities of October 7th. We all know Hamas committed horrific acts- but that does not justify the deaths of 20,000+ Palestinian children since then.

Raising the ongoing humanitarian crisis isn’t about excusing Hamas, it’s about holding all parties accountable to international law and basic human decency.

Decades of brutality and oppression, obviously. Nothing comes from nothing.

Everyone can see the causes, just as everyone is appalled by the action.

What happened on the 7th October that justified the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian children? Nothing.

October 7th attack on innocents wasn't justified just like the attacks every day since are not justified in Gaza.

How much attack would be justified though? How much could Israel retaliate before you think they'd gone too far? What is a justified number?

The moment they dropped an airstrike on a populated area knowing that civilians would be killed they had went too far. Or the first aid truck that was blocked knowing it was needed to feed innocent children.

Just like every time Hamas send a rocket over that could hurt or kill an Israeli citizen or steal aid that could feed a Palestinian.

There is never a justified number of civilian deaths for any political cause.

So, Hamas kidnapping and killing babies, targeting innocent youths at a festival, raping then parading women doesn't get a mention? Why not?

Framing my highlighting of the unacceptable deaths of 20,000 children as ‘clutching my pearls’ says it all.

Because as people say on other threads, this isn’t about them.

Collective punishment is wrong.
Expecting hospital to evacuate is wrong.
Taking drs is wrong.
Killing journalists is wrong.
collecting men, stripping them, blindfolding them and marching them off is wrong.
Controlling water is wrong.
Snipers shooting little kids carrying water is wrong.
Shooting disabled people is wrong.
Creating a whole generation of disabled children who were born able bodied is wrong.

And doing this for nearly 2 whole years, that isn’t getting hostages back, it isn’t getting justice for people, that’s the actions of a blood thirsty dictator.

You tell me - what retaliation specific to Oct 7th would you have been satisfied with? How much retaliation would you be agreeable to? Be specific.

But we aren’t discussing that. We are discussing the children that have been slaughtered since then.

When is enough enough? When Gaza is rubble? Its already rubble. When all the Palestinians are dead? When the greater Israel is created?

HAMAS carried out the biggest FAFO ever - at the expense of innocent Palestinians. HAMAS leaders dont give a shit about them either. So why should Israelis? Why do you refuse to acknowledge HAMAS's part in all of this?

Been heart broken over what’s been happening for over two years now, flabbergasted by how many are happy to turn a blind eye and play the ‘But what about HAMAS’ card.

But we are because if the killing of babies and raping of women hadn't happened on oct 7th, we wouldn't be discussing this now. How can you be so brazenly obtuse about it?
