My negative experience was in relation to the schools. Separation of Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs, the beliefs Israeli school children have about Arab people and the standards in the two branches of the education system.

Strangely a huge number of academics, authors, historians, legal rights experts, over a hundred human rights organisations around the world have loudly condemned Israel and using the words genocide, war crimes, enforced starvation. But I am sure they are all a bit thick too.

Yet these are the ones who are sharing their outpouring of grief and expect everyone else to conform with the emotive knee jerking responses. I was going to stay away from this thread but sometimes you have to cut through the shit and the tedious guilt tripping, as well as the pile ons and stand up for your own beliefs.

I only mentioned the US as a comparison as you listed various people of Arab descent in positions of power in Israel and said there wasn’t discrimination.

And I’m not “painting Israel as evil”. I actually think evil is an unhelpful term for any country or human. I think some powerful members of the Israeli government are driven by hatred and are encouraging or planning horrendous violence against Palestinians. I think members of Hamas have committed the worst crimes against other humans.

I wouldn’t call a whole country “evil” - it doesn’t make sense to lump so many individuals together as if they’re all the same. But I will call out individuals like Smotrich for being driven by hate and encouraging or promoting acts of terror against Palestinians.

I know where you are coming from but I think unless someone authentically cares they are better off saying nothing. Mark Rufallo, Ms Rachel, Nicola Coughlan have all spoken out passionately for a long time.
