No. It's strange how none of the many Arab countries around have offered help to their Muslim brothers in Gaza. I'm sure they could support them if they wanted to via Egypt's border. It's almost like they don't want to help.

Not sure why you expect ‘Muslim’ countries to take in large numbers of people thrown out of their own country

Martymcfly24 · 23/08/2025 00:06

I don't believe that all Palestinians are hamas at all.
I have seen adults who are skin and bone.
Less people would starve if their leaders were fairer.

It is one factor yes the leaders should be fairer.

The other factor is the restriction of aid by Israel and the dangerous and unpredictable way it is being distributed.

I have said many times. Flood the area with aid, take away Hamas power and black market .

No one would be starving if Israel wasn’t blocking food getting into Gaza
This FAMINE has been created by Israel and Israel alone

That’s your choice. I find it distasteful to look at people in a war zone in that way but let’s agree to disagree.

When you’re ready, please may you share your ‘impartial expertise’ sources. I want to make sure I’m not missing any key voices in this discussion.

We can also circle back to Smotrich when you’re ready.

I think this so called expertise is from X 🤣🤣

I was forwarded on to an X post from a mumsnet site about food markets in Gaza a while back
They were selling all sorts of Nutella delicacies and dated a few weeks ago
The thing is. There was a donkey in those August 2025 images and a guy in the cart behind. The same donkey, harnessing, guy and cart were in the same place in the same images online from 2023. The same images posted for the nieve, the famine deniers and for those who want to say that Israel can do no harm

these are Israeli proporganda videos.

Pathetic

Why not? Europe took Ukrainians in when they needed. Thats what you do when your neighbours have problems, you help them.
Why Egypt is not helping Palestinian people?

I am denying that there is a famine.
I'm saying that food is being withheld from children to feed leaders.

What do you think they are doing with formula? Why do you think the UN are lying about there being famine?

Do you think that the reasonable thing to do if food is being 'withheld by leaders' is to A. Stop all aid for 3 months, then set up a few aid camps that open for 10mins a day and shoot at the people queuing up for aid. Or B. Flood the strip with enough aid for everybody so that children and pregnant women arent suffering from malnutrion?

GladioliGreen · 23/08/2025 00:47

Martymcfly24 · 22/08/2025 23:24

They are terrified of losing US aid. They were one of the biggest recipient after Israel.

This is often overlooked. Egypt are one of the biggest recipients of USAID, as a country in severe economic crisis there is no way they would go against the US and Israel and open their borders to flood Gaza with aid. The Trump administration exempted military aid to Israel and Egypt when it first decided to pause all foreign assistance. There is a reason Egypt was included in that and it's not because Trump has a fondness for pyramids.

The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli military occupation since the 50s, so you’re suggesting this ‘genocide’ has been ongoing for 70 years?! In which time the population of Gaza has actually increased? That’s an incredibly ineffective and unsuccessful genocide if ever I saw one.

Maybe, just maybe, Israel is not committing genocide. Maybe it’s at war with a fanatical terrorist regime which uses the Palestinian people as human shields and in the process they get killed. Why do the IDF drop notes to warn Palestinians of imminent attacks? Does this happen in other wars? Why do Israeli doctors treat Palestinian civilians who need medical care?

You have swallowed the prevailing narrative that Israel wants to eradicate the Palestinian people, but the evidence says otherwise. Whether you choose to believe that evidence is up to you.

Once again: the Gaza Strip has NOT been under Israeli occupation since the 1950s.

It was occupied in the six day war - that would have been in 1967 - and was previously administered (although not sovereign to) Egypt.

You are all embarrassing yourselves by gunning for a "this has been going on for longer than anyone remotely sensible even claims" argument.

The occupation was, literally, ruled as being fundamentally illegal in the non-binding but authorative AO of the ICJ in 2024.

You lot all seem to be insisting it was "since the 50s". That is literally wrong. It's since 1967.

Why are you trying to make Israel look even worse???

It’s coincidentally extremely beneficial to Hamas at this stage in the war when the remaining terrorists are cornered like the the rats that they are and Gaza city is their last stronghold, for this actual famine to happen now to put more pressure on Israel to withdraw and to further demonise Israel on the world stage.

Netanyahu isn’t stupid and I can’t see why Israel would deliberately engineer a famine as it’s of no benefit to them either militarily or in the court of public opinion.

It’s not like the world’s media weren’t going to find out what they were doing!

This war has been scrutinised (from afar, mostly by people who have no idea what’s actually going on, on the ground nor have military experience) to the smallest detail, more than in any other war I’ve known and it’s obvious why.

We certainly didn’t get daily updates in MSM on deaths and operations in Afghanistan, Iraq or now in MSM and SM on the ongoing wars and genocides in Sudan, Ukraine, Congo, Yemen. Syria, Nigeria, Myanmar, Somalia etc.

It’s blatantly obvious who is responsible for this famine and it isn’t Israel.

Where has the two million tonnes of food Israel has facilitated into Gaza gone? Why is there tonnes of aid waiting to go in?

Read their post you’re arguing with a pro Israeli supporter.

No idea why you’re saying ‘you people’ in this case.

I sleep fine at night knowing a terrorist state will soon be beaten and the gazans will hopefully live in peace.

At this cost?
You're happy with the cost?

Martymcfly24 · 22/08/2025 23:32

Look I agree with the vast majority of your points about both Hamas and the IRA. Hamas are evil and they do live among the communities and are controlling a black market that stops civilians getting food.

But not all Palestinians are Hamas and the civilians male, female and children are starving which is why a famine has been declared.

Yes - and not all Germans were Nazis, yet the allies had to bomb and kill German men, women and babies in order to win the war. The difference is that Israel takes exceptional measures to minimise civilian casualties.

Because the Muslim ‘brotherhood’ is supposed to look after their own. The sad reality is that no country in the Middle East wants them. Why? Because the vast majority of the population have been radicalised.

The rationale is that because countries aren’t willing to take in millions of refugees who have illegally removed from their own country, those refugees must be awful people?
You could extend that circular reasoning to every group of people who’ve been the victims of repeated discrimination, genocide and ethnic cleaning, there must be a reason for it?

Thay's not what she said is it? But please do look up what has happened when neighbouring states have previously taken in Palestinian refugees. It explains why they aren't so willing to do it again after 20 years of living under an extreme regime which has done everything it can to radicalise its people. Noone doubts that it is a terrible predicament for ordinary Palestinian people.

Well, as I keep saying, one of the most power members of parliament (Smotrich) has made it quite clear why a famine would be of interest to the right wing elements of the Israeli government: the population of Gaza would be “concentrated” in a narrow strip of land in the south of Gaza. The rest of Gaza will be “empty” and that “They will be totally despairing, understanding that there is no hope and nothing to look for in Gaza, and will be looking for relocation to begin a new life in other places.”

Members of parliament like Smotrich have made it clear that they want to rebuild Gaza for settlers. Sadly, he has a disproportionate amount of power in the government and his comments of what should happen to Gaza seem to be matching the reality. They are also planning on building a new settler area with the specific aim of “killing the de facto Palestinian state.”

If Israeli politicians (it’s not just Smotrich) weren’t talking about ethnic cleansing or dehumanising Palestinians, counties like Egypt might feel more confident about giving Palestinians temporary shelter from the conflict. But it is not Egypt’s responsibility to take 2m displaced people because Israel have destroyed their homes and stolen their land

Ultimately, we will have to see what happens in the coming months. But when members of the government are talking about ethnic cleansing like it’s not a big deal, it is clear that extremists in both side of this conflict need to go before peace can be persued.

They haven't bothered to reach far back into history to see how the region has evolved. I referred to the Muslim Brotherhood recently, and was told my suggestion had racist connotations. That was when I realised that if they cannot understand a huge movement like MB, they aren't ever going to believe that Palestinians are treated like the underdog by arabs.
