A mild, late, spineless stand. But a stand. It makes me wonder how much longer this can go on before governments realise people are fed up of this.

Anyway, @Gloriia I genuinely struggle to follow your posts. The way you present things actively undermines any pro-Israel argument.

Please for your sanity <and mine> do stop quoting me. Seriously it's enough now, you've said you won't engage with me but do so constantly, you critique my posting. I know I know it's difficult when someone disagrees and successfully challenges you but just ignore me rather than bother with these tellings off.

Meant kindly before you report me.

I’m not engaging to pick on you personally. I’m responding because misinformation is being spread about the deaths of children, the starvation, and the blockade. These are real, documented events. This isn’t about you, it’s about facts and I refuse to let misinformation and pro-Netanyahu propoganda be continuously spread.

This is not a war.

It is a war. Like Syria, like Yemen.

How many were killed in Yemen do you know? An estimated 377000. caat.org.uk/homepage/stop-arming-saudi-arabia/the-war-on-yemens-civilians/

People just don't seem as bothered unless it's Israel in the conflict. Why do you think that is?

Why should I not engage with you? We’re on a public forum are we not? Although I’ve found it very strange that the same users post very frequently, whereas I usually take breaks for a few hours or days.

The BBC has admitted that a Gazan woman it claimed died of malnutrition was being treated for cancer.

The broadcaster reported over the weekend that the 20-year-old, identified as Marah Abu Zuhri, died after she was evacuated to Italy for treatment while “severely emaciated”.

However, the Israeli military unit in charge of aid, known as the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (Cogat), claimed shortly afterwards that she had actually suffered from leukaemia.

The corporation was accused of spreading “shocking misinformation” with the story, which was updated on Sunday to reflect the patient’s condition.
Following the criticism, the BBC issued a statement saying: “We were not initially aware that Marah Abu Zuhri was being treated for leukaemia.

So what, what does it matter if you have a break/name change and others post more. What is the point of that comment?

I've been here since 2pm just having a late lunch. That ok? Should I clock off until what, 7pm?

What does this ultimately change? The BBC has corrected the story. Israel has still created a man-made famine in Gaza. Are all the children and babies who have died of malnutrition so far not enough for you? Or the infants who’ve died because they were denied medical evacuation?

The point is simply that it’s noticeable when the same few accounts are active almost constantly while others take breaks. It’s just an observation, not a rule about when anyone should be online.

Settle down.

The point is that there is - in all probability - a significant amount of misreporting in Gaza.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 18/08/2025 14:29

Actually, Israel has already launched its ground offensive in Gaza City. I guess I know that because I rely on a range of credible sources, not just ‘The Times Israel.’

Israel plans to take complete control of Gaza city from October 7th with the displacement of 1 million Palestinians unless Hamas meets their demands.

I love how you find new ways to insult people every day. The Times of Israel is a good source with balanced reports which is why I use them for a source of information. I often quote from the BBC too, sometimes the Telegraph and occasionally The Guardian.

From what I can tell, your sources are normally Al Jazeera or social media but anyway, sources are irrelevant to what we are discussing. We both know that things will get a lot worse for Gazans after 7/10/25 if Hamas don't soften their stance on negotiating a ceasefire before that date.

Ignoring the patronising “settle down”…

No one is claiming there’s zero misreporting, but that doesn’t change the fact that a severe humanitarian crisis exists, children are starving, and civilians are being killed. Verified sources confirm this is happening.

Exactly. An example of the bollocks that is spouted.

Oh quick, quick sweep that under the carpet nothing to see here the BBC retracted it! Well here's an idea BBC/NYT/whomever get your facts right before sharing these hysterical stories.

Actually, Israel has already launched its ground offensive on Gaza City, so the ‘waiting until October 7’ narrative doesn’t match reality. I rely on multiple sources, including verified humanitarian organisations and journalists on the ground, not just social media or one news outlet. The facts on the ground, civilians being displaced, bombed, and starved are what matter here, regardless of what narrative anyone wants to push.

Reported today in various sources: BBC admits Gazan woman who ‘starved to death’ had cancer

The BBC’s explanatory note, added on Monday afternoon, said: “This article’s headline originally said that Marah Abu Zuhri died of malnutrition, with the introduction stating that she suffered a cardiac arrest and died on Friday.

“The headline has been amended to remove the reference to malnutrition being the cause of death in what the hospital described as a ‘very complex clinical picture’.”

The US had led the criticism, with Mike Huckabee, Donald Trump’s ambassador to Israel, urging the BBC to apologise.

Maybe if Israel didn’t keep committing genocide you wouldn’t have to spend so much time on here defending them.

Doesn't it? I wouldn't want to run the risk of ignoring the October 7th deadline if I were someone living in Gaza city right now. I would consider it a hard deadline and wondering why my government (if you can call Hamas that) wouldn't just meet Netanyahu's demands.
