Palestine Action demo 9 August

To my amazement, last night I discovered that some posters on MN think that "radical Islam" means simply "Muslim" 😬

I wonder if this explains why so many are unconcerned about who might be pulling the strings behind the "peace" rallies that were first organised on 7 October? Do they know what radical Islam is, how powerful it is, that it is widely acknowledged as the greatest threat to UK national security, that its intentions are clearly stated, that it is 10000000% different than simply observing Muslim faith?

Palestine Action are planning a rally in central London on Saturday and hope to overwhelm the police presence. Is anyone concerned about this? I'm worried that the seeds of civil unrest are being sown, without it being entirely clear who is sowing them.

I suppose a criminal record won't affect 83 year old retired protestors much.

It could affect younger protestors badly though in terms of limiting their career options. And their options to travel to certain countries such as the US, Japan, South Africa, India and New Zealand.

No but the indignation will sting <I hope>.

It's all over the Internet isn't it people seem to think if you're an oap you're exempt from the the law.

They change their placards depending on what's on trend.

And whatever the latest anti-west ideology is.

GentleSheep · 10/08/2025 12:02

But blindly cheering for the creation of a Sharia state is pure suicidal insanity. I think if they are so keen to cheer this on then they ought to go and live under Sharia law for awhile and see how they feel about it then.

True

Yvette Cooper's comments on Palestine Action confirm what I was thinking:

She defended the banning of Palestine Action, which she said was based on "strong security advice following serious attacks the group has committed" as well as "plans and ideas for further attacks, the details of which cannot yet be publicly reported due to ongoing legal proceedings".

"Many people may not yet know the reality of this organisation, but the assessments are very clear - this is not a non-violent organisation. UK national security and public safety must always be our top priority."

Exactly why would they have done it if it was just a bit of vandalism, obviously they have more intelligence on the group.

All those hapless folk with signs saying they support them. Terrorists must piss themselves laughing at us.

Then they get offended when you call them useful idiots. That's putting it mildly.

Do we know if any of the PA leaders got arrested or are they keeping their powder dry and letting the pensioners take the flak on the front line?

Good point. They like to get others to do their dirty work. They know this doesn't stand a chance of the ban being overturned. As always, it's just an exercise in causing maximum disruption. Much like that pitiful selfie yacht. Wonder if Thunberg has attached herself to this. Cba to look.

Its perfect PR - social media is full of nonsense about 90 year olds being arrested. Patronising, sentimental BS.

Ugh I'm so glad I don't use social media
(apart from MN, if that counts).

Its painful, but also useful, and at times uplifting and inspiring too! I'm watching the march for the hostages in London right now and sending them my solidarity and love!

This.

All of the useful idiots supporting them and their extremist ideas, even though they attacked 2 police officers with sledgehammers. That's violent enough. Causing millions of pounds worth of damage to military aeroplanes on a military base is prison worthy IMO. We offer the freedom to be idiots and to be turkeys voting for Christmas.

This. Terrorists with 'Queers for Palestine', middle class pompous lovies, GT and her band of merry non binary, I mean they wouldn't last 5 mins under sharia law.

Stripes56 · 10/08/2025 18:34

I really wonder what those so derogatory of those supporting the PA hope to achieve? That they are so stupid/ foolish etc etc.

Does it make them feel better that some supporting the plight of Palestinians are facing consequences of the law- as if this belittles the level of concerns held by most people about the plight of Palestinians and the behaviour of the IDF and Israeli government.

I think some of us consider the plight of the Palestinians to result directly and indirectly from the actions and ideology of Hamas, and Palestine Action is probably in cahoots with them... considering they planned their first London demo on 7 October (for the following weekend), among other things.

By all means lend your support to them if you prefer to point the finger at Israel and ignore any potential security threat to the UK. That's exactly what they want you to do.

They aren't supporting the plight of Palestinians though. How on earth does damaging property in the UK, causing millions of pounds worth of extra work for the police who are already stretched, getting in the way of ordinary people trying to earn a living (just because lots of them have money and nothing else to do).

They could just stand and support an end to the war, the release of hostages but no they have to support a terrorist organisation. It really doesn't do anything to help the people of Gaza at all, no matter how you twist it, it really doesn't.

They are causing mayhem in a country that has no control over the war there. Trump is really the only person who can influence what occurs with the war. Therefor they are stupid and useful idiots to terrorists who wish to gain support in a western country.

I imagine terrorists love people like the lame supporters of PA. A right ramble of helpful people supporting their cause of wiping out jews and pushing their Islamic extreme ways. They could just bugger off to Gaza and actually hand out food, offer any aid support etc but standing with signs supporting a proscribed terrorist group.... I mean any sleeper cells here might see that as a sign of agreeing with more extreme action.... and then take action.

Sorry, my bad - it was't Palestine Action who arranged that first London demo, it was the Palestine Action Group! But to be honest I've given up differentiating between them as they're clearly helping each other out... PAG arranged yesterday's demo so that elderly Brits could score martyrdrom Brownie points on PA's behalf. Fantastic PR as usual.

If you are asking specifially about Palestine Action, then what do you make of Yvette Cooper's comments about them?

These people don't even believe they are being played. They would far rather believe Free Palestine literally means freeing Palestinians from the evil clutches of Israel. From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free. Very clever for the crusaders to lead with just Free Palestine. It allows them to expouse their cause, without their dopey followers being let in on its real purpose. I find it particularly sad when I see young people chanting it. If only they knew.

NoSoundbitesPlease · 10/08/2025 18:55

I mean if the people sat with signs really wanted to help they could volunteer:

"For those interested in making a positive impact, we highly recommend contacting UNRWA to inquire about internship and volunteer programs. Indeed, engaging with Palestinian children, women, and refugees in Gaza through such programs can contribute significantly to humanitarian efforts in the region." There you go, rather than sit on the floor with a sign supporting a proscribed terrorist organisation that participants have attacked people with sledgehammers, caused millions in damage to military property and whose actions have not made the slightest difference to the people of Gaza.
