To think UN should now be in Gaza as a peacekeeping force

Seriously, when even the Daily Express are even calling mass forced starvation and putting pictures like this on their front pages.

Surely the UN could act as a peacekeeping force and stop this insanity?

Its obscene.

I agree. But two things can be true at once. No one seems to care at all about starving Yemeni children and I see no marches demanding intervention to protect the druze in As Suweida who were even massacred in their hospital beds

It isnt the IDF allegedly responsible you see so there isn't the same outrage.

Isn't Clooney's Wife <who wants Netanyahu arresting> half Druze? Surely she'll call for arrests in Syria any day now!

@DickAhOnI’m very much aware that Jews have been persecuted and murdered throughout history. But as you will know, idiots will seize on any opportunity to display their anti-semitism. The behaviour of the Israeli government, which is not endorsed by the vast majority of Jews, is giving these people a stick to beat them with.

As a reciprocal gentle reminder, starvation and murdering medical workers and journalists is contravening multiple conventions of war. And yet, the Israeli government press on.

À UN peacekeeping mission can only be created “sent in” with the following conditions met:

  • all permanent five members of the UN Security Council agree to it (and to pay for it) - US, Russia, China, France and the UK
  • the country in which the peacekeepers will operate agrees to it. In this case, the occupying power, Israel, agrees to have UN peacekeepers in and support them to do their work. Given Israel have a history of attacking UN peacekeepers (in Lebanon) this is doubly unlikely.
Bubblegumicecreamm · 23/07/2025 21:53

Heartbreaking for the people of Palestine.

There can’t just be endless bombing and starving, surely with the support of other countries there could be a more targeted attack on Hamas?

HRTQueen · 23/07/2025 21:53

They should have been in Gaza a number of months ago it’s utterly disgraceful what is happening

The Isreali government are an utter disgrace

UpTheGunners · 23/07/2025 21:54

@Gloriia you haven't responded to multiple posters calling out your ignorance about children starving more quickly.

Whammyyammy · 23/07/2025 21:54

UN workers would just end up as Hamas hostages

SteakBakesAndHotTakes · 23/07/2025 21:55

Hamas headquarters were found directly underneath UN headquarters, so they are not peacekeepers

Alifemoreordinary123 · 23/07/2025 21:55

Humans have done awful awful things to each other forever. But there is something about this particular situation, the way it is playing out in plain sight of us all - every single person with power or non, that is truly disturbing in a way I will never get over. The rights and wrongs of who did what, who owns the rights to what land will never come close to justifying the pain, terror and suffering being inflicted on Palestinian children.

Exactly. I think some posters think hamas are just misunderstood.

Yea- true- Israel wouldn’t agree to it as it’s unlikely they would want any kind of international oversight.

There are more child amputees per inhabitant in Gaza than anywhere else on Earth.

Flumpflimpo · 23/07/2025 21:58

As israel wouldnt agree to a peacekeeping mission, we should send in armies.

There is always the "fear of getting nuked". Israel didnt nuke iran when iran bombed israel.

I don’t think anyone thinks that at all.

But the children of Gaza are not Hamas.

Most people can make that distinction.

Ohh the usual antisemitic trope of comparing israelis to nazis. How lovely 😍 Funny how you go straight to the holocaust.

Flumpflimpo · 23/07/2025 21:59

Its just a disgusting situation.

The videos going round of israelis calling palestinians "animals" has chilled me.

One israeli man says on video "it doesnt matter if palestinians die, they are animals."

It’s terrible, Hamas are inexcusable. Many people that are incredibly vocal about the acts of Israel won’t condemn the acts of Hamas.

It’s not as simple as one good, one bad.

You may find it was Hezbollah blowing up peacekeepers reporting on their violations

Gazans elected hamas. Many hostages were kept with civilians. You seem to think gazans don't support hamas?

I am not antisemetic (that always gets thrown out) . What do you think that i hate every single jewish person in the world
So stupid and such an immature argument

. I went to dinner with my jewish friend yesterday.

And i didnt go "straight to the holocaust". I wrote about 8 posts before i mentioned the holocaust if you go back and look

And instead of getting angry at what i said, maybe you should get angry at israel killing children?

Are you angry about that?

A sizeable amount of people DO in fact think that and have been vocal about it. It’s visible online and at protests, I’ve even spoken to a couple of people that actually support Hamas.

Denying part of the reality won’t work in the cause of the Palestinian people.

The children of Gaza did not elect Hamas.

I repeat- collective punishment is illegal under international law.
