Conflict in the Middle East

To think UN should now be in Gaza as a peacekeeping force

Seriously, when even the Daily Express are even calling mass forced starvation and putting pictures like this on their front pages.

Surely the UN could act as a peacekeeping force and stop this insanity?

Its obscene.

Just to be very clear, you’ve offered me no facts or balance @Gloriia

'However, I’m no longer going to engage with you'

Confused

It would be a refreshing change if these keffiyeh wearing free palestine people would try a #hamasSurrender slogan occasionally. Just for a bit of balance, to show they understand the situation and who is the villain here.

Maybe even 'release the hostages'

Testimony from those who survived is disgusting as were the hamas/Gazan handover theatrics. But some ghouls seem to enjoy that.

Dontthink · 28/07/2025 09:39

Maybe the Pro Israeli gouls could hold banners during their own protests saying End apartheid now!, Free the Palestinians held without charge!, Charge the rapist soldiers!, No children in military jails!, Free the food!, Not in my name!

You know, just for a bit of balance. To show everyone who is the villain here.

Yet another post conflating support for the Palestinian people as supporting Hamas and what happened on Oct 7th DESPITE many of us speaking out against that too.

So I repeat again- most of us can make a clear distinction between the children of Gaza and Hamas. But it’s used time and time again as an argument on here when it’s absolute bollocks and offensive too.

Repeat after me- collective punishment is a war crime under the Geneva conventions.

Well let me be equally as clear i blame hamas and while they are a terrorist organisation some people see to think they are victims and they are not at fault for not distributing aid to their malnourished people. They seem to be masters at gaslighting.

“To what extent was Israel responsible for the man-made famine in Gaza in 2025?”

  • Total blockade imposed by Israel: Following the events of October 7, 2023, Israel imposed a full blockade on Gaza, halting the entry of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies. This included restrictions on aid convoys and border crossings. [(UN OCHA, Oct 2023)]
  • Systematic obstruction of humanitarian access: From March to May 2025, UN agencies and international NGOs reported being denied access for almost 80 consecutive days, despite escalating humanitarian need. [(UN OCHA, May 2025)]
  • Massive drop in aid deliveries: Aid entry to Gaza decreased by over 80% during 2024 and early 2025. In January 2024, around 500 trucks a day were needed, but by April 2025, only 50–70 were allowed in—often fewer. [(WFP, IPC, 2025)]
  • Man-made famine declaration: The World Health Organization and the UN Secretary-General both labelled the crisis a “man-made famine,” directly linking it to Israeli restrictions rather than natural causes or internal governance failures. [(WHO, UN, June 2025)]
  • Replacement of UN aid channels with Israeli-controlled system: In May 2025, Israel sidelined UN coordination and introduced the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which many NGOs refused to work with due to lack of transparency, operational inefficiency, and ties to Israeli political leadership. [(Reuters, June 2025)]
  • Aid workers targeted and routes attacked: Multiple reports documented Israeli strikes on convoys, warehouses, and distribution centres. At least 200 aid workers, including UN staff, were killed by Israeli fire by mid-2025. [(UN, Human Rights Watch, 2025)]
  • Deaths at distribution sites: Over 1,000 Palestinians were killed while attempting to collect aid, many shot near aid trucks or in crowds surrounding airdrops, with Israeli forces accused of opening fire. [(Al Mezan, UNRWA, Feb–July 2025)]
  • Malnutrition skyrocketed: By July 2025, over 5,000 children were being treated for acute malnutrition. Several hospitals reported children dying of starvation despite being admitted for care. [(Save the Children, WHO, July 2025)]
  • Deliberate targeting of food systems: Israel was documented bombing bakeries, water infrastructure, and farmland in Gaza—directly undermining local food production and access. [(Amnesty International, HRW, 2024–2025)]
  • Legal accountability measures: The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli officials, including PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant, for using starvation as a weapon of war—a recognised war crime under international law. [(ICC, May 2025)]
  • Human rights consensus: Major human rights bodies including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Oxfam, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights concluded that Israel’s actions constituted collective punishment and potentially genocide. [(Joint NGO reports, 2024–2025)]

Yes. Bob couldve said 'release the hostages', 'hamas surrender' and 'the un need to get delivering the supplies' but nope he uses his platform to shout 'STOP IT' and rambled that the IDF are liars. One up from Dr Maynard's announcement that they'll all trained snipers I suppose.

We are now hearing that the poor boy exploited by the press and his family as starving actually has a muscular medical condition. We don't hear celebs shouting liars about that now do we.

Did you hold a placard saying free the hostages on your march, maybe a litte '#DownWithHamas' sign, or 'theUNNeedsToGetitsArseInGearAndDeliverTheAid'.

No?

It’s the most important point here especially given this is a parenting website.

The only ghouls on here are the ones that deny that fact.

The hostages aren't important to you? Ok

I could see that irl by the way the bibas posters were torn down and defaced, maybe they weren't parents, maybe it's only some children.

My boys are a similar age to some of the hostages being held, starved, tortured, do you stop caring when they reach a certain age?. Hersh was also somebody's child.

I’ve posted this on the other thread but it also feels relevant here:

That little boy is a victim of starvation.

If a child can only survive on specialist formula and that formula is blocked or impossible to find because of a siege- then yes, they’ve starved to death.

Medical vulnerability doesn’t cancel out the fact they died of hunger. It just proves how obscene it is that children with complex needs were left to die first.

So the real question isn’t whether the image was cropped. It’s: why are we debating journalism standards while children are dying without food?

Everyone on this thread has repeatedly denounced what happened on 7/10. No one has suggested the hostages aren’t important.

But I would argue that the killing of nearly 20,000 children in response is disproportionate.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 28/07/2025 10:13

@Gloriia If your view was truly balanced, it wouldn’t require sarcasm, deflection, or repeated minimising of mass civilian suffering. Balance means acknowledging all the truths, even the ones that are politically inconvenient.

All the truths? You're acknowledging that many things @Gloriia is saying are true?

When hamas are internationally pressured on the marches to release the hostages and rule peacefully or fuck off, I'll join you on them.

That’s an odd threshold for solidarity. You’re saying you’ll only speak out against mass starvation once Hamas behaves better?

But human rights aren’t conditional. Starving children, medical conditions or not, don’t get to choose who governs them.

People on these marches have condemned the taking of hostages. Many are also calling for long-term political change- including for new leadership in Gaza. But they don’t believe that Hamas’s actions justify collective punishment of 2 million people. That’s the difference.

You don’t have to endorse Hamas to stand against forced famine. You just have to care about civilians enough to say: this is wrong, no matter who’s in charge.

They did exactly the same thing to me.

It's a technique. Not worth directly engaging with imo.
