mass strike?

Why cant we all go on strike re israels genocode? Obviously we don't want NHS to collapse and certain infrastructure has to keep moving but how are we not all screaming from the top of our lungs about Palestinians being starved and slaughtered. Money/loss of is where it will hurt those in power, sadly so many people don't seem to care or think this has anything to do with them but I'd like to think that at least half the UK population is as utterly distraught as I am about this. If everyone chose not to go into work as a form of protest surely the government would stand up and listen. Peaceful protest doesn't seem to cut it 🙄 I know it's not as simple as this and would take a LOT of planning, and not everyone would be paid for going on strike which is a privilege to even do so but I'm in utter despair about how this will ever stop and radical action seems needed!

Also out of curiosity, are people boycotting the likes of coca cola/Starbucks etc and those linked with supporting this Genocide?

People on here are always claiming that Palestinians are being dehumanised yet a poster has openly said they don’t feel sorry for the Israeli’s killed by Hamas. Absolutely sickening.

Fully agree.

Fully agree.

Then they try and call us heartless. 🙄

Systematically starving an entire population to death, which to many people’s eyes is exactly what is going on right now…

Is heartless though.

Would you not agree?

I wish Israelis would go on a mass strike. It's their government staving babies after all. They are the people who hold the most influence in all of this. I heard an Israeli who was protesting about all of the dead babies on the radio earlier, he was saying that it's very dangerous to protest in Israel right now though, especially if you are an Arab Israeli. Arab Israelis are being locked up as terrorist supporters if they protest about the starving children so they aren't really able to. Altogether there was only a couple of hundred Israelis out of 9million who turned up to protest forved starvation which is disappointing to say the least. It seems that there isn't really much of a movement there that opposes the forced starvation of children.

But, not so ‘utterly horrified’ as to do anything other than talk about it at dinner parties etc., correct?

Not correct.

Across the UK people have raised money, donated money, lobbied their MPs, protested, been arrested for protesting.

If you think all people are doing is discussing Gaza at dinner parties you are not looking. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jul/19/palestine-action-protests-uk-london-arrests

Sorry ‘All the people I know in the UK…’ - your words.

I do not know anyone actively involved in protesting, or fund raising for Palestine. Your dataset, my dataset.

Edit: Aren’t Palestine Action a proscribed terrorist org?

Again, incorrect. They are not my words. I was quoting another poster.

Oxfam are raising money for Gaza. Do you know them or anyone who works or volunteers for them? Or donates to Oxfam?

My bad, apologies.

But PA are a proscribed TO? You would not join one of their protest marches, right? Your outrage does not extend that far, correct?

Oxfam’s fundraising is apolitical, as it is for any other campaign they conduct - we can deduce nothing else from it.

What proportion of the people in the world do you think agree with you

Genuine Question

SisterTeatime · 23/07/2025 21:07

All the people I know in the UK, no skin in the game people that are observing the situation in Gaza are utterly horrified by the actions of the Israeli govt. They, and I will have nothing to do with this country or its goods, or its people that choose to support its barbaric regime. Those that support this are now subhuman and should be treated as such. Shunned.

What an interesting choice of words, @Lonelycrab

Oxfam and all who work and donate are trying to do something to help those suffering in Gaza with or without a political agenda.

They are not just talking at dinner parties.

Compassion for the starving and injured, especially children, does not mean a poster supports Hamas. If you read the thread you will see that is not the case.

I’ve been boycotting Israeli goods. Makes me want to vomit every time I think about it how anyone can support Israel whilst they’re purposefully withholding water and food to children and babies.

The post pp was referring to said:

“i am almost ashamed to admit that I no longer care that Israelis were killed by Hamas
almost ashamed - and then I look at the pictures coming out of Gaza and nothing can justify that - it’s pure evil”t

They weren’t even talking about just the Israeli government or the IDF, they were referring to all Israelis it seems.
That is dehumanising and frankly disgusting.

Always the pro-Palestinians who try to make out anyone not singing from their hymn sheet are bought. Never see it the other way round although that is much more likely IMO since spreading propaganda is the whole basis of this war from the Palestinian side.

I’m sure Israelis will be crying into their Shawarma sandwiches that you and your ilk don’t care for them.

OK, but again you have singularly ignored my point about PA.

You see, I do not dispute some clearly hold strong views, but that’s it for the vast majority. Those willing to take to the streets, to risk arrest - they are the minority, and I cannot escape the feeling that there is a significant degree of anti-Semitism wrapped up in this.

Few get quite so indignant over other parts of the world.

It's if no interest to me; I don't need a coalition to validate my opinions. I don't buy what you buy - it's as simple as that. There is a lot going on with the aid and its not as straightforward as Israel not allowing access. I don't trust the UN, who have a problem with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. The UN feel undermined. Hmmmm I bet they do. This is the same UN who liaise with Hamas on pick up points for aid.

Please note all those telling us noone supports Hamas.
This is open support for a genocidal, racist terrorist organisation that oppresses and brutalises its own people.
Ascever, hatred of Israel is more important than actually caring for Palestinians.
