mass strike?

Why cant we all go on strike re israels genocode? Obviously we don't want NHS to collapse and certain infrastructure has to keep moving but how are we not all screaming from the top of our lungs about Palestinians being starved and slaughtered. Money/loss of is where it will hurt those in power, sadly so many people don't seem to care or think this has anything to do with them but I'd like to think that at least half the UK population is as utterly distraught as I am about this. If everyone chose not to go into work as a form of protest surely the government would stand up and listen. Peaceful protest doesn't seem to cut it 🙄 I know it's not as simple as this and would take a LOT of planning, and not everyone would be paid for going on strike which is a privilege to even do so but I'm in utter despair about how this will ever stop and radical action seems needed!

Also out of curiosity, are people boycotting the likes of coca cola/Starbucks etc and those linked with supporting this Genocide?

this would be the dumbest thing I’ve heard all day if I hadn’t been watching that Peggie tribunal.

You don't get the difference between doing something ftom a moral standpoint and doing something to "secretly" spite someone? I mean pp could at least grow a spine and tell her colleagues shes buying the dates just to spite them, obviously that would still be weird though! I can't get over her buying a product she probably doesn't even want because she thinks she's point scoring over a colleague 🤦‍♀️

Don’t worry! I love dates.

FlamingoFloss · 23/07/2025 18:26

I cannot stop thinking about the starving people. But to strike - no. What on earth would it actually achieve?

ssd · 23/07/2025 18:37

If I thought striking would make the tiniest bit of difference I would...but sadly nothing right now us making any difference.

This genocide won't be forgotten.

MyNameIsX · 23/07/2025 18:39

What an utterly absurd and juvenile post.

What do you think your ‘strike’ would achieve? Tel Aviv would laugh, Lammy would do the square root of F all, and your employer would understandably give you the boot.

Let us know how you get on (or don’t).

ssd · 23/07/2025 18:40

I won't touch Israeli produce now. Which is a shame for the normal Israeli people who are as much against this genocide as anyone. But whilst Netanyahu is in charge, myself and my friends and family are boycotting anything from Israel.

And we are now all a bit dumber for having been exposed to it…

I’m confident that the Israeli market will be able to bear the loss of your custom.

In all seriousness, their armaments export sector is booming.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 23/07/2025 18:53

Shame on Hamas.

Kakeandkake · 23/07/2025 18:54

Shame on Israel.

BakedAlaska12 · 23/07/2025 19:07

People on here are always claiming that Palestinians are being dehumanised yet a poster has openly said they don’t feel sorry for the Israeli’s killed by Hamas. Absolutely sickening.

Dangermoo · 23/07/2025 19:11

Don't be guilt tripped as to how you spend your money, folks.

FairKoala · 23/07/2025 19:18

wellwellwell39 · 23/07/2025 17:04

OK, if you are purposefully buying dates from Israel etc, can you tell me why? I of course condemn the hostages losing their lives who were taken in October, of course. But are you truly unable to feel anything for the tens of thousands of babies and children being starved right now, and those who have been brutally murdered intentionally and so viciously?

What exactly did the Palestinian people who were celebrating the invasion of Israel and the mass murder, rape and kidnapping of people who had gone to a festival or families just at home, expect was going to happen.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 23/07/2025 19:19

Precisely. Hamas hide among civilians, many of whom are complicit. How can Israel trust they won't experience another attack like 7 Oct without wiping out the threat?

smallglassbottle · 23/07/2025 19:43

Unfortunately, nothing will stop israel. The most that can be hoped for is that the world wakes up to what is the truth of the israeli state and what it is doing. People are understandably horrified at what's going on. These people won't change their opinions now, not after seeing this horror in Gaza. Israel employs people to go online and explain their actions - excuses, of course - and try to influence worldwide opinion. This no longer works, thanks to social media showing the truth, in spite of there being no journalists allowed in Gaza. People talk to each other and swap information and the truth then emerges. Propaganda can't win against this genocide. Hopefully it may lead to changes going forward. Changes in how the world deals with israel and what it's permitted to get away with. The old narratives are falling away and will be replaced with a more truthful and realistic view of the situation. I, for one, have done quite a bit of reading on the subject lately and have learned some pretty shocking things.

As for the people making glib comments about eating dates, shame on you. I hope you're happy.

Pubgarden · 23/07/2025 20:11

Gaza now has the highest number of child amputees per capita anywhere in the world.

What is the ‘truth of the Israeli state’ other than it’s ensured constant wars and terrorist attacks from neighbouring countries and the Palestinians whose whole identity was created to destroy Israel.

Maybe you could enlighten those of us who don’t know?

inamarina · 23/07/2025 20:21

Dangermoo · 23/07/2025 16:54

Me too.

Same here.

smallglassbottle · 23/07/2025 20:23

The Palestinian's whole identity was created to destroy israel? Oh, please 🙄

"All the people I know in the UK, no skin in the game people that are observing the situation in Gaza are utterly horrified by the actions of the Israeli govt. "

This.

Kakeandkake · 23/07/2025 17:02

There is a genocide and mass starvation.

Shame on the Israeli government and their supporters.

In this country we are free to boycott Israeli goods!

There is no genocide. Hamas have been holding innocent hostages for nearly two years and many (including babies) have died yet Hamas repeatedly breaks agreements to free them. I bet if it was your family being held you would want your government to do whatever it takes to rescue them !! Oh and Egypt could easily open their Gaza border and let the Palestinians in or send aid but they aren’t bothering. Your being brainwashed by terrorist islamic propaganda

This.

But, not so ‘utterly horrified’ as to do anything other than talk about it at dinner parties etc., correct?
