mids2019 · 21/06/2025 15:27

Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

The same Iran which actually has a lot going people in Iran hoping the bombing of military facilities can somehow dethrone a hated Islamist regime?

Wtaf?

A quick question. If Iran decides to use terrorism as a means of revenge for the recent US attacks to get and instill fear into the US population how should the US and its allies respomd?

Maybe Israel could use some of their nuclear weapons on Iran if they respond.

BibiSuzanne · 22/06/2025 07:40

Terrorism? Like the pagers used by Israel in Lebanon?

This might be an appropriate moment to remind people, AGAIN sigh that the reason the murderous, barbaric Iranian regime is there in the first place is because Britain and America scuppered Iran's last hope of enlightened democracy by staging a coup in 1953, then spent two decades propping up a corrupt military dictatorship against the will of the Iranian people, to protect their oil interests.

Plus ça change...

I keep thinking this. 1953. 1979.
It seems to me that people Britain and America never learn about how they repeatedly instal the worst dictatorships around the world. Yes I absolutely abhor the Iranian regime. But killing the Ayatollah will not necessarily free Iranians. Especially starting this when the current government was at the discussion table seeming ready to decelerate it's alleged program.
Be careful what you wish for.

Why do people confuse people protesting over the innocent lives lost in Gaza as being pro Hanas

Why do people deliberately ‘confuse’ people protesting another war being started in the Middle East, innocent victims etc as being pro Khamenei

So lazy and convenient

I don’t support either side because I’m against innocent civilians dying, but the hypocrisy from Israel supporters over a hospital getting bombed is unbelievable given what we’ve seen happen in Gaza.

I hope in years to come they study this war and how people were brainwashed into believing that their governments were acting in the interests of the rest of the world.

Hypocritical to whine about Iran having nuclear weapons as well when Israel has been far from transparent about their own nuclear capabilities but I’m sure someone will be along to justify it shortly.

They will not study it because the people being killed are considered less than, expendable by the leaders and much of the populace here. If there was learning to be done, it would have been done after 1953. 1979. After the Iraq war. After Patrice Lumumba in Zaire now DRC. After Libya. I could go on and on. It's not that these are missed opportunities to learn. It's that they don't care.

Its to shut down discussion. Pure and simple.

Oh, do me a favour! Israel targeted Hezbollah operatives, not the public.
The same Hezbollah that has been launching missiles at Israel since before Hamas declared war against her.
Please do not confuse your love affair with anti Western/anti Semitic terrorists with them being innocent John and Joe public.
You will be side eyed and laughed to scorn outside of your curated bubble otherwise.
Imagine being so privileged and indolent in life as to being picking up for Hezbollah!
What a sellout!

But arguing against the wisdom of the UK getting directly involved is not "supporting the Iranian regime".

Unless you think there can only be two types of governments in the world: those we actively support and those we go to war against.

Totally agree. Absolutely loads of people didn’t want the war in Iraq. I don’t think they were all accused of being massive Saddam Hussein supporters.

Dangermoo · 22/06/2025 09:18

@Easytouch I think you've got something there, with the love affair thing going on. They will take that literally, of course.

Back patting in progress 😂

When I see the various protests about what's going on re the Middle East, it does stand out that nobody is protesting against Hamas/Palestine, who provoked this war in the first place, and who could end it by giving up their hostages. Where are all the protestors/minor celebrities spouting opinions about this?

That's not juicy enough. They've got to condescend the 'brown' people. By doing so, it keeps them on their pedestals.

Maybe because the protesters and minor celebrities know that everything in that post is wrong.

Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

No, that was Israel (or Britain, or the USA...)

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Possibly

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

No, that's also Israel (if you do mean "hospitals" plural).

@Jumpupjumphigh , deluded.

The Netanyahu apologists are extremists too as evidenced on this thread, completely proving my point beautifully 😁

anti genocide = pro hamas, anti Semitic lazy argument over and over and over…

”but Hamas!” an excuse for brutal starvation and bombing of over 50,000 innocent women and children

Were it not for the depraved actions of Hamas, we wouldn't be here talking about it, would we. I'm not sure what's hard to understand about that. Where were all you saviours before 7/10 if you felt that strongly about the situation in the region? I won't embarrass you by expecting you to give me a reasoned answer.

AnnaBalfour · 22/06/2025 09:44

@Dangermoo

here is where you’ll see the difference between the average person absolutely appalled by the genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza

im equally appalled at Hamas and their utterly disgusting attack on Israeli young women and young men, to me they are utter scum

do you see that it is possible to condemn violence on all sides?

whereas you, you defend violence on one side, you excuse it in an extremist and mind blowingly hypocritical way because you view Palestinians as lesser humans than Jews

I abhor the 7/10 attacks as much as most people do

do you feel any sympathy for the innocents being starved and shot while they wait around for food or does your cold heart just say “oh we’ll Hamas started it so yeah in a round about way, the Gazan civilians deserve it” with a shrug, lines of reasoning along those lines excuse the deplorable and dispicable Israel governments extremism and blatant genocide and attempt at ethnic cleansing which they will OPENLY admit

I have empathy for innocent Palestinians being killed. Mainly, because they are being discarded by their own people, who do not value their lives. I have no sympathy for those who back Hamas. I feel the same way about Iranian civilians, who live under a vile regime. It's not Israel bad, Palestine good. It is the ability to base my opinion on history, which goes way, way further back than 1948.

Some of the "brown people" could actually be on this thread! Or on Mumsnet. Or live in the UK! Or live in the US.
Be careful all.

I agree and let them let chat away in their own echo chamber.
They don't reply when questioned unless it's to state whataboutery.
I have been called absolutely disgusting things on a previous thread for staying facts and when I called it out asking for the evidence for the three different accusations (multiple times), only two popped their heads up: one to claim they weren't actually speaking about me and the other started accusing me of stating something I had never even mentioned.
So I'm not going to engage with this rubbish. It's not debate.

They are, of course - absolutely fantastic. It's quite bizarre for you to think otherwise.

Why would anyone of sane mind in the western world want to support Iran. Hateful, backward regime. Wipe them out. I have Iranian friends and they are desperate for their once beautiful country to have an opportunity for change.
