mids2019 · 21/06/2025 15:27

Is this the same Iran was enriching uranium for the express purpose of building a nuclear bomb?

Is this the same Iran that was plotting a terrorist attack on a British base in Cyprus?

Is this the same Iran that send missiles against hospitals?

The same Iran which actually has a lot going people in Iran hoping the bombing of military facilities can somehow dethrone a hated Islamist regime?

Wtaf?

Ah cut the crap and just own your opinion

You couldn't give a shiny shite about Iranian women and their rights until it suits the Israeli agenda.

Argue about the issue and the right to nuclear weapons all day but the hypocrisy of caring about their rights when Palestinians women are seeing their children eat sand is bullshit.

Obviously from the heart. And all the better for that.

But since that’s your view, you’ll get why people think the anti-Israel voices don’t give a shiny shite about Palestinians or anyone else: they just hate Jews.

Awww angry face. What’s made you angry?
The fact Iran have been suppressing its women for decades?
The fact they are okay with allowing child marriage?
The fact Iran has been threatening Israel publicly for decades?
The fact Iran plotted to attack the Israeli embassy in London last month?

👏 👏

Ah well that’s where you’re completely wrong.
I couldn’t give a shiny shit about religion or religious zealots.
I give lots of shiny shits about women’s rights. Something that was taken away from Iranian women by male religious leaders. Something that has been protested about in Iran and Amnesty International has taken seriously for a long time.
So, I have no crap to cut.☺️
Do you care as passionately for women’s human rights as you do for Palestine? The women who were completely innocent and did nothing to deserve having their rights stripped away?

I don't to be honest. I couldn't care less what religion anyone is. I was raised Roman Catholic and have a diploma in Religious Studies.

I would hold any nation/race / religion to the same standard and I think the actions by the current Israeli government, Iranian government and the US government are absolutely abhorrent.

Edited

I care about all human rights, something Israel is denying Palestinians.
Their rights have also been stripped away.

So you’re genuine in your concern for oppressed and abused Iranians, and loads of others presumably, but anyone who backs Israel isn’t?

Absolutely not. That’s yours and Israel’s agenda you are pushing. The lies and the gaslighting here is incredible. As I’ve said on other posts, the facts are out there. And if you don’t ‘believe’ Palestinian or UN sources, how about reading the many books by Ilan Pappe, Norman Finkelstein, Miko Peled, Gabor Mate etc. All Jewish, all have family who survived the concentration camps or were Zionists. Stephen Kapos, a holocaust survivor is always at these marches and often speaks. Is he a liar?

Why are you so passionate about saving Palestine specifically?
What’s different about Palestine to say Burkina Faso? Both going through similar with displacement and aid blockages. Civilians being massacred etc.

You’ve missed the point completely.

Posters can’t say that they are genuine in their concerns for the mistreatment of people but others aren’t genuine, because the others’ politics or affinity with a cause differs.

If we should accept that anti-Israel posters’ concern for Palestinians is real, why can’t you accept that people are revolted by the Iranian government’s oppression of its people?

Bahaha you did the ‘I care about all…’ rather answer the specific question.
Do you care as passionately for Irans violation of women’s rights like your passion for Palestine?
If you don’t, fair enough but I would ask why

Dude, it's not me that's angry. That's Netanyahu, who can't quite believe someone would have the audacity to bomb a hospital and civillian areas.

You can care about Irans violation of women/human rights at the same time as caring about the people of Palestine’s human rights. I don’t understand this post at all.

greencartbluecart · 22/06/2025 17:38

What part of “don’t kill , don’t resolve your dispute by fighting “ is hard for people here to grasp?

I don’t care if you don’t like someone / a government or whatever . I don’t care tagt I don’t like their government. that does not justify bombings and killings. O don’t care if the people you are bombing make threats at you. I dont want to listen to a “he did that miss.. ah but miss he went first “ it’s infantile at best. I don’t approve of killing peoples to prove a point or force your worldview into people

make love not war as they used to say

war … aint nothing but a heartbreaker
friend only to the undertaker

it’s the working class ordinary people who are killed whilst the politicians point the fingers from a safe distance and try to trick you into supporting them

Me neither it's meant to be a gotcha but most people have the capacity to care about more than one thing at once .

I’ve not missed the point at all. Where did I say I wasn’t revolted by the Iranian regime? I am. But I am equally revolted by the Israeli aggression. I can have both points of view.

You know nothing about me. You don’t know what or who I protest for. This thread is not about Burkina Faso is it? And for your information I am passionate about Palestine because I am Palestinian. I know the injustice that has happened. You know it too, but you will continue to gaslight and lie.

And the script comes into play again. Palestinian supporters have to prove they support every single cause going otherwise we are really just anti semitic and picking on Jews. So predictable. Read every discussion on Mumsnet about the Palestinians and you have some ‘whataboutery’ variation.

It’s not about Palestine either, but it’s been shoehorned in.

OK. But the post of mine that you commented on was in response to a pp who’d said:

You couldn't give a shiny shite about Iranian women and their rights until it suits the Israeli agenda.

So the issue is the genuineness of concern for others in the minds of those of us who take a different view from that pp - and you, I think - about Israel’s actions (as I see it, self-defensive actions).

I’m just pointing out that if people want to sling that sort of thing about, they must expect to be told that people are suspicious about the reality of humanitarian concerns of anti-Israel posters and what might truly lie behind bogus concern for Palestinians.

mids2019 · 22/06/2025 17:54

We just can't have a blinkered view of Iran and our foreign policy aligns with Israel in that we both see the development of a nuclear weapon by Iran as a clear and present threat. The hopefully termination or severe delay of Iran's nuclear weapon development is something to be lauded. Our threat of terrorist attack has been increased since the US strikes so we know who our enemies are; we should be united in defence of our country and her interests.

It is of course in Iran's interest to stoke division in western societies and there may be tactic of trying to present Iran as the new Gaza which it simply is not.

yip I won’t conform to a thought pattern that promotes violence and I am proud of that
