Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

Openly declares its desire to destroy Israel and the Jewish people @SharonEllis

Exaggeration and nonsense. Iran has no problem with Jews, it has a problem with the current state of Israel. Stop trying to make out that this all about antisemitism.

notimagain · 13/06/2025 07:33

@BelleHathor

Also American planes would have had to help refuel Israeli jets heading to Iran.

Nope, if needed Israel has it's own tanker force.

They performed a large scale rehearsal for a long range strike using a mix of F-35s, F-15s and several examples of their version of the 707 tanker last August.

Incredible. Iran, the largest state sponsor of terror in the world, behind the 7 October attack which we all agree was appalling, right? An evil thecratic regime which quashes dissent and appresses its people, particularly women, minorities and gay men and women. Actively developing nuclear capability (what do you think they want nuclear weapons for?). Openly declares its desire to destroy Israel and the Jewish people & actively supporting various groups continuing to attack Israel.

But all pales into insignificance because Israel is always wrong.

Would you really have expected anything different?

Glad I’m not on the side of Hamas & Iran.

ArtTheClown · 13/06/2025 07:36

Oh and congratulations to Netanyahu he has just given Iran the final impetus to build a Nuclear bomb.

That might take a bit longer now tbf!

EasternStandard · 13/06/2025 07:38

It’s very concerning, the whole thing is, including Iran moving towards nuclear capability.

Most Analysts say that it would likely only delay the Iranian program by a couple of years.

I'm not convinced the Iranian regime will still be in power in a couple of years, now. But we'll see.

sualipa · 13/06/2025 07:42

Oh well I guess my holiday to the Holy Land is postponed again. Whatever the US says they had a hand in this - though with plausible deniability. Netanhayu isn't leaving anytime soon and he will double down on Gaza. Grim times.

Israel have leaders with warrants out for their arrest for war crimes, open about their desire to wipe out Palestinians, have killed more children than any of other state in recent times, run an apartheid system, imprisons children and adults without trial and tortures and sexually assaults them, support terrorists in committing pogroms and stealing homes, arming groups with ties to ISIS. We all agree that that is appalling right?

I still wouldn't support an attack on them, even though their extremely unstable leaders have access to nuclear weapons.

Yeah because the choice is support Hamas and Iran or support Israel. It's not like you can think they are all a bunch of cunts.

SharonEllis · 13/06/2025 07:48

I definitely come here for informed debate and adult analysis.

sualipa · 13/06/2025 07:50

I miss Sangita - sacked for telling the truth and replaced by the loathsome Feltz. Remember that Netanhayu was back in Court - that's no coincidence.

Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!
PaxAeterna · 13/06/2025 07:50

It’s a concerning move. From what commentators are saying to, it doesn’t even seem to make sense strategically for Israel.

Absolutely @GretaGreen. I haven’t seen a single person on the thread say anything in support of the Iranian regime. The insults are beyond ridiculous at this point. Most people just don’t want to see another war break out.

It's ridiculous, either support Israeli violence or you are antisemitic and are siding with Hamas and Iran. I'd rather not side with Hamas, Iran, Netanyahu or Trump thanks very much. Like someone said it's far from adult anyalsis, it's juvenile pick a team nonsense.

This is a grotesque distortion of the truth.
The reason it has a problem with the state of Israel is because it has a problem with the Jewish people having a homeland.

The state of Iran has consistently denied the extent of the Holocaust. https://www.ushmm.org/antisemitism/holocaust-denial-and-distortion/holocaust-denial-antisemitism-iran/2016-holocaust-cartoon-contests-in-iran/timeline

I think you’ve correctly identified the logic behind many posts here - they start from the fundamental principle that Israel is wrong and shouldn’t exist and everything else follows.

Can we take a second and reflect on how shi t the Iranian military is and how the iron done with US assistance will protect the major military and civilian structure in Israel. The US is not going to let Tel Aviv get bombed.....sorry all this who wanted to see Israel suffer damage.

We are going to see Iran utterly humiliated on the global stage with this weakness possibly leading to regime change.

This is a good thing alongside Iran not getting a nuclear weapon where we could possibly are a real genocide in the future. Sorry for all it is going to fill up over the next few days with petrol.....time to buy elwcteic?

I am not sure all in US government wants to be dragged into defending Israel:
From Time of Israel:
The US has told Israel it will not participate in any potential strike on Iran’s nuclear program in the coming days, according to reports in The Wall Street Journal and Axios.
The Journal cites an official with knowledge of the matter as saying Washington will not provide any offensive support for an Israeli strike. Axios quotes two US sources and an Israeli official as saying the same.
Axios notes it is still possible that the US will offer other support, including in logistics and intelligence, while adding that it is likely to assist Israel in defending itself from any Iranian retaliation, should a strike take place.
The Journal says that though Washington is not providing official support for the Israeli threats of military action, officials do hope the pressure will lead to Iranian concessions in negotiations still taking place between the sides through Omani mediation.

Also- US intelligence has stated Iran not at point where nuclear weapons a risk

Suggestions on news site that just maybe this is more due to the imminent vote in Knesset that may dissolve parliament which Netanyahu has now survived? Even is not- Netanyahu’s government is the war monger one here

Which is also why they think the reverse is true - that anyone that doesn't conform to the view that Israel is wrong in every sense, therefore unconditionally supports the current Israeli government (regardless of what people actually say). No space for sensible conversation in between.

Posters here are supporting the current Israeli governments actions. Not calling for de-escalation and a negotiated solution to utter maniacs having access to nuclear weapons. They jump straight into defence mode, straight into antisemetic, don't want Israel to exist, terrorist supporter nonsense. No space for conversation in between.

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 08:46

The US have attempted to distance themselves but it's quite clear they did know about it.

The UK have said they won't help Israel in defending itself from Iran's counter attack? Is that correct?

Nobody here has said they support the Israeli governments actions. A couple of us have pointed out how despicable the Iranian government is and therefore shed no tears for them or poiblnted out potential advantages of weakening such an awful government. I personally have no idea if it was strategically a good idea or carried out in the most effective way. Unlike others in here I dont claim to be an expert because, just like others on here, I am not. I do have the critical faculties to question what some people are saying.

SharonEllis · 13/06/2025 08:48

Oh and if you are claiming the Iranian government is not antisemitic then do expect to be hauled up on it.

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 08:49

I thought the US and Iran were close to reaching an agreement? I suppose that's off the table now.

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 08:50

Netanyahu would have done anything to sabotage a deal between Iran and the US, so here we are.
