Conflict in the Middle East

Yikes, Israel might have just attacked Iran!

This is NOT GOOD news!

Israel has declared a state of emergency, at least six explosions in Tehran.

This is seriously unfunny!

Israel has ZERO strategic depth - Iran has plenty. Nukes: see above, reverse!

Now reading other posts apparently TR's clock is different to the one I knew about anyway. So its all pretty irrelevant apart from tje fact that its a fact that Iran is obsessed with Israel's destruction. I couldn't give a rat's arse what TR thinks. About anything. I strongly recommend not giving him the oxygen of publicity.

Edited

I did and it is pretty much what you would imagine it to be.

I had no intention of posting it to the thread.

Agreed. Will happily take this advice!

I wasn’t prepared to allow someone to accuse me of hanging on Tommy Robinson’s word, and posting incorrect information, without responding.

Strikes in Tel Aviv reported by the BBC

As of this moment, [ambulance] teams have gone out to search seven locations where reports [of strikes] were received in the Dan Bloc [Tel Aviv metropolitan area]", a spokesperson for Israel's Magen David Adom ambulance service says.

@BelleHathor

"All the advisers in Washington and Tel Aviv who dreamt this up are to blame."

So nothing to do with Iran trying to develop nuclear weapons, Iran sponsoring attacks on British shipping, Iran seizing Royal Navy sailors and Iranians planning terrorist attacks in London?

can you please explain to me why it’s ok for the UK and America to have nuclear weapons but not Iran?

Completely agree.

You've got to be kidding me. Do you know anything about Iran?

stonecutter · 13/06/2025 20:21

Whatever you think of Israel, and even whatever you think about what happened today, I can't understand how anyone can think it's a good thing for Iran to have nuclear weapons.

Dangermoo · 13/06/2025 20:22

Just when you think the ignorance cannot heighten any further.

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 20:22

Doesn't Israel have nuclear weapons?

Not a lot I’m afraid, that’s why I’m asking.

The UK, USA and Israel have nuclear weapons: and I wouldn’t say any of them are innocent parties who should be trusted with nuclear weapons either

My niece briefly dated a submariner stationed on a Trident sub, and one Christmas many years ago, he mentioned that they were more concerned about the Americans (this was pre-Trump) than the Russians. Make of that what you will

Well maybe do some research.

I'd make precisely nothing of it.

Are you less worried about Russia and Iran?

😆 🤣 the Russians having the most powerful nuclear base.

SharonEllis · 13/06/2025 20:27

Yes, that is why Iran's nuclear programme has been closed monitored for years. Their persistence is concerning, don't you think?

EasternStandard · 13/06/2025 20:28

Whatsinanamehey · 13/06/2025 20:13

Iran have said they have downed two Israeli fighter jets.

@Whatsinanameheywhat’s your view on Iran having nuclear weapon capability?

You forgot to mention Israel have denied it.

Or perhaps the threat has been persistently and deliberately exaggerated for decades but now, with Netanyahu due in court (barring his recent 'illness'), it's suddenly being framed as existential. Call me an old cynic, but I can't help noticing the timing.

As for the real threat here in the UK if we leave them alone, I’m more worried about burglars, since you ask. But then again, I’m not that concerned, having never been burgled in my 64 years.

When I read and posted all it said was the IDF denied to comment. It didn't say they denied they have. I don't know if there has been another update since then.

Iran and nuclear weaponry have been under discussion for a while. The JCPOA for example was about a decade ago.

Ok that’s great but there’s a whole raft of people who do know the threat and work on us avoiding it.

well, Israel has been bombing the fuck out of Gaza and committing genocide the last few months with the support of the US and a lack of intervention from the UK

the UK has a history of colonialism.

The US is made up of colonists who took the land from natives.

so, im really curious as to why they/we should be allowed to have nuclear weapons and not Iran?
