Freedom Flotilla

Thought this might be worth its own thread. The freedom flotilla The Madleen was getting close to Gaza but seems to have made a diversion, as it was the closest boat to answer a distress call. They seem to also have four Sudanese asylum seekers on board who were trying to escape the Libyan coast patrol.

The UK and France are asking Israel for its safe passage.

The tracker is here but is in and out of action.
https://freedomflotilla.org/ffc-tracker/

More details here, although the latest detour is not covered in the article.

Weren’t you the poster who said they’d been ‘attacked’ which was blatantly false.

I think hysteria was an accurate description.

Not to be a pedant, but to me having drones flying in close quarters, horrible sounds being played, substance being sprayed on the boat, soldiers coming on board and ordering you to throw your phones overboard and to leave your boat with them sounds like an attacked. You don't only have to be shot, bombed, physically assaulted and rolled over by a tank to experience an attack.

Twiglets1 · 09/06/2025 05:53

@IloveSootyandSweep your posts have been overdramatic. Examples:

"They've been attacked by Israel!"
"So they are torturing them first"
Speculating that they have been "sprayed with a chemical that stung the eyes"
"I believe the 12 crew members of the Madleen will not be immediately allowed to go home".

You're wrong on all counts ... maybe change your media source from the Turkish radio you mentioned because the information you are sharing is designed to instil fear and is false.

Edited

And so.
The 12 crew members have not been immediately allowed to go home.
No intel yet on what the substance was that stung their eyes as it was sprayed around the ship. I doubt we’ll ever get an answer to that one.
See article above re solitary confinement.
No one has heard anything from them since they landed, including a legal team on stand by in Israel

Not wrong.
All very predictable

IloveSootyandSweep · 10/06/2025 01:32

Getting really boring calling them terrorist sympathisers . I think you’ll find if you pop over to the news around the world none of them agree with you.

What has Greta (or any of the other ‘activist’ occupants of the boat) ever said about freeing the Oct 7th hostages in Gaza and Hamas surrendering, or about the actual genocide on Oct 7th, while accusing Israel of genocide and demanding a ceasefire?

Join the dots. It’s not hard is it?

The media reports what they think their audience wants them to report.

YourOnMute · 10/06/2025 01:51

No, I am finding it hard to join the dots. Please elaborate.
They can act on a humanitarian basis if they want. If their number one issue is starving people in Gaza, that's a pretty good humanitarian issue to act on.

Maybe they’re having a nap after their sandwiches or enjoying Israel’s hospitality so much they aren’t ready to leave yet.

Have any of them ever stepped foot in Israel before?

I’m sure the ‘lack of contact’ will be spun out for as long as possible.

They don’t have much else to demonise Israel with now apart from ‘illegal detention’.

Israel would have recorded everything. They’re not stupid.

Gosh considering they got those sandwiches a little less than 24 hours ago I hope they have been given further food since then. I'm sure Israel won't let them starve.
(Not like the people living in Gaza).

They are raising awareness about starvation and lack of aid in Gaza
That’s Everyone in Gaza
The hostages are there too

Netanyahu is not letting in enough aid and not allowing people to get to what little there is safely.
They are raising awareness
They have done that. The current horrors are all over the news and more young people are now more aware after following the Freedom Flotilla.

Agree.
They’ll want some semblance of ‘we were treated well’ from reports on their return.

Let’s not forget those particular drones are able to shoot and kill

No one has heard from any of them since the IDF boarded the boat. Not even their Legal team in Israel

https://www.timesofisrael.com/gaza-bound-activist-boat-towed-to-ashdod-port-after-israeli-interception/

Apparently being medically checked by the genocidal Israelis.

The cowards apparently refused to see what they were actually supporting by watching a 45 minute video of footage taken by Hamas and the ‘innocent civilians’ who participated in Oct 7th themselves.

Says it all really.

I wonder how many on here have watched it in addition to watching all the propaganda videos out of Gaza? Just for balance like? The images will never leave you.

I’m not Israeli or Jewish but it invoked such anger and disgust in me (the cries of ‘slaughter the Jews, Allahu Akbar’, the pregnant woman having her fetus cut out and beheaded in front of her, the dead being attacked as if killing then wasn’t enough, the heads chopped off from soldiers and held up as trophies, the bodies of raped women), that I will never stop supporting Israel and know I am 100% on the right side.

This is a battle of good and evil. In that video, you see the evil plain and simple.

For the last time.
They were carrying aid to people being starved.

They wouldn’t be there if Netanyahu wasn’t maiming and starving civilians and committing war crimes day after day after day against thousands of innocent civilians. They current survivors need food and medical supplies and it seems

More people are following now. More people are on their way. They may not get past the IDF but they are brave people for trying.

They were held for 7 hours. I’m sure any marks would have still been there when they got to a phone.

Actually they said their phones were given back but you don’t need a signal or internet to take a picture.

They were driving not left in the desert to walk for days.

Plastic zip ties tend to leave some marks.

@Martymcfly24 Israel would be mad to hurt them in any way

( They held their hands up anyway and went without resisting )
They might try a little psychological torture, loud music, flashing lights, solitary confinement all of which they’ve already done or said they will do. ( evidence already on this thread ) but
anything that leaves physical evidence I’m sure would be vetoed.

I’ve only seen an image of Greta though

@sualipa

"There is a much bigger land convoy travelling through Northern Africa on the way to Gaza - how far it gets will be down to individaul Arab governments. When Greta gets out she may wish to hitch her global reach to this. "

You are correct how far it gets will depend on individual Arab countries, in particular whether Egypt allows it to enter Gaza.

There is also the issue of getting across Libya safely given its lawlessness.

They are travelling on land but along the coast through Libya and there was a thousand people yesterday with reports of more joining enroute. So hopefully , safety in numbers.
There was a report saying they had not, as yet, secured visas for Egypt.

Twiglets1 · 09/06/2025 15:19

They all looked fine in later videos Sooty&Sweep with no eye issues - I don't think it merits a full on investigation.

If I’ve responded to this already Twiglets I apologise.
I’ve only just picked up comments, it’s late, and I can’t remember if I responded.

Im not sure they’ll be able to do an investigation.
The boat will be cleaned and the 12 aren’t home yet.
Like all evidence gathering I’ll wait and see. @Martymcfly24 suggested it was glow in the dark paint which makes sense as it was nighttime when the IDF boarded. But the reaction on board was of eyes stinging. Paint doesn’t do that unless it’s sprayed directly in your face, which it wasnt. Plus I didn’t see anyones eyes glowing in the dark.
So
Im sure it will be investigated if there’s any evidence left

Twiglets1 · 10/06/2025 04:35

YourOnMute · 09/06/2025 23:00

It's not fallacious. But Netanyahu can go and defend himself in court..after all the innocent should have nothing to fear.
Attacking residential areas, hospitals and schools etc without sufficient evidence and failure to follow the correct procedures (if such evidence does exist) are war crimes.
The ICC (apologies might be the ICJ) said that in particular claims that hospitals were military control bases/operation centres were "grossly exaggerated".

Yet 2 of the top Hamas leaders were found hiding under the European Hospital as well as an extensive network of tunnels, rooms & ammunition.

Foreign journalists were invited in very recently to see the evidence for themselves, according to the Telegraph which has published photos.

This was one of the hospitals where civilians very unfortunately got killed in the bomb too and at the time people were saying there was no evidence the IDF were targeting terrorists.

It’s just strange to me that people would even think the IDF would target hospitals or target civilians for no reason. There’s no logic to it unless you have already decided they are monsters.

Talk about clutching at straws.

They are being deported home, very likely today.

Sorry if Israel didn’t send them home quite fast enough for you. Maybe they will put in a complaint that the service they received wasn’t good enough re their free flight home.

But they didn’t shoot & kill. The activists were not attacked.

Your initial post of “They’ve been attacked!” was fear mongering & even I felt alarmed though I was definitely not expecting Israel to harm them before your post.

Nonsense. If there's one thing that Gaza definitely does NOT lack, it's awareness. There is constant coverage on news/social media, there are marches and protests in cities around the world, and it is a major talking point for politicians.

In contrast, ongoing conflicts in places like Myanmar, Sudan, and the DRC are barely acknowledged or discussed.

People currently in long-term comas might be unaware of the Gaza situation, but they're the only ones.

That’s ok … as long as their eyes are fine now then I think it can safely be assumed they were not sprayed with anything designed to harm them.

Maybe that’s partly why they had a medical (I imagine filmed) to prove there were no side effects from the process to get them removed from the boat as people like to throw accusations around. They will all be back in their home countries soon, planning their next trip in some cases.

Sweden snubs Greta Thunberg's plea for help on board 'freedom flotilla'

Maria Malmer Stenergard, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday that she believes Thunberg is not in need of support from the ministry after the climate activist called on followers to pressure the government into action.

'A great responsibility rests on those who choose to travel contrary to the advice given to a place,' she said outside the Swedish parliament, as protestors gathered in Stockholm to demand an intervention.

The minister lamented that, as a result of Greta's plea, the consular hotline had received a high volume of calls that meant Swedes 'in need' abroad were being held in long queues for assistance.

'It is quite dangerous to run a campaign that means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular hotline is called down,' she said, adding: 'The consequence is that Swedes in need abroad have to wait in line for far too long.'

Stenergard suggested she did not believe Thunberg needed help, but assured: 'If she needs consular support, we will do everything we can, just as we do with all Swedish citizens.'

This is hilarious. Good on Sweden. I'm sure the people needing Swedish consular support are big Greta fans now. Yet another example of how these spoilt brats were doing nothing more than getting in everyone's way.

And unbelievably people on here still thinking they were delivering aid. Even the flotillistas themselves said the aid they were carrying was just symbolic.

The passengers of the “Selfie Yacht” arrived at Ben Gurion Airport to depart from Israel and return to their home countries. Some of the “Selfie Yacht” passengers are expected to leave within the next few hours. Those who refuse to sign deportation documents and leave Israel will be brought before a judicial authority, in accordance with Israeli law, to authorize their deportation. Consuls from the passengers’ home countries met them at the airport.
