Thought this might be worth its own thread. The freedom flotilla The Madleen was getting close to Gaza but seems to have made a diversion, as it was the closest boat to answer a distress call. They seem to also have four Sudanese asylum seekers on board who were trying to escape the Libyan coast patrol.

The UK and France are asking Israel for its safe passage.

So you hate him and think he lies shamelessly because he legally (assumingly) emigrated to Israel?

He is an Israeli government spokesperson we have seen many many interviews with him on mainstream news channels over the past 18months we've heard his lies and excuses it is nothing to do with him being Israeli it is to do with the lies he tells on behalf of the Israeli government and the role he holds.

It is a freedom granted exclusively to him and other Jewish settlers under the Right of Return a legal privilege that systematically excludes the millions of Palestinians who remain stateless or exiled from their ancestral homes. This stark injustice lies at the heart of the deep, generational anger felt by Palestinians as a whole - an anger that many Israelis and their supporters seek to dismiss or trivialise. Anyway I apologise we seem to have digressed from the subject under discussion.

I haven’t heard any examples of his supposed lies.

Go back and watch his interviews. Being an Israeli government spokesperson trying to defend war crimes is the main issue.

If Governments won’t do anything ( is Starmer still asleep on the job ) then clearly the people will make a stand for what is right.

I just don't see the need to resort to such personal insults about things like her looks. It's gross. I've never once seen anyone here speaking about Netanyahu, Gvir, Smotrich any of those people on such a nasty personal level as people have Thunberg on this thread and those guys deserve it if anyone does. Yet an autistic young woman who has done no harm to anyone at all, literally all she has done is gone on boat with baby food and tampons and she is subject to a barrage of disgusting commentary. Why? Why have people on this thread chosen to go so low, is it because she is autistic? Because she is a young woman? There is obviously a reason because Thunberg hasnt harmed anyone, she hasn't broken any laws, she hasn't done anything wrong at all yet here we are. She is being spoken about in far worse terms than a man who has a warrant out for his arrest for war crimes.

Humanitarians who were actually tortured and taken hostage.

There seems to be some kind of demented need to take actrocities that were committed on 7 October and, using the exact language, to accuse Israel of committing those atrocities, i.e.“hostages” “torture” etc.

Does anyone actually believe that the Israeli Government is holding the crew of that boat hostage? Or that their intercepting of the boat amounts to torture? Seriously?

It’s because Netanyahu has called her an anti semite. Some people think he’s right about everything. She has been called one on here for example.

I've loved Greta for a long time. She has brought a child’s-eye view to a complicated, often maddening adult world and that has cut through a lot of noise. We’ve all watched her grow into a young woman, and what’s remarkable is that she still burns with the same fierce belief and determination. She’s not always right,but the direction she’s travelling in, and the honesty with which she speaks her truth, really are something to admire. And climate change hasn't gone away it's the most important issue of our age and one that is getting lost in a world travelling rapidly towards war and populist movements.

Absolutely.

I just don't understand the sheer level of spite directed at her from people who hear about innocent people being shot at and killed and say things like it was probably an accident, soldiers are jittery or who make continual excuses for a government accused of horrendous war crimes. But a young woman who hasn't killed anyone, hasn't harmed anyone, has sat on a boat with baby formula trying to do a good thing is fair game for 'mocking' and insults? It's nasty as hell for no reason.
