Freedom Flotilla

Thought this might be worth its own thread. The freedom flotilla The Madleen was getting close to Gaza but seems to have made a diversion, as it was the closest boat to answer a distress call. They seem to also have four Sudanese asylum seekers on board who were trying to escape the Libyan coast patrol.

The UK and France are asking Israel for its safe passage.

The tracker is here but is in and out of action.
https://freedomflotilla.org/ffc-tracker/

More details here, although the latest detour is not covered in the article.

The IDF have boarded and have told them to turn off their phones.

Quadcopters in action ...

So they are torturing them first

Are you lot on this thread really so naive as to not understand that this silly young woman is just an attention seeker?

Are you serious? Twelve innocent people are under attack/ hostage as we speak, yet this is your comment?

What a load of performative, naive, virtue signaling nonsense those daft idiots on that boat are up to! An excellent example of suicidal empathy as I’ve ever seen. Greta and co need to get over themselves

Yup.

No she is being brave and raising awareness of the horrific genocide taking place

she is an inspiration

Don't waste your breath.

Funny that people that think it's "silly" and "unimportant" or "symbolic" spend so much time "debating nothing".

The Madleen achieved what was necessary, that the ordinary people of the world, still have humanity and care. Unlike many of our so called elected representatives (who are strangely silent tonight).

It's a PR win for humanity and ironically the Israeli Navy surrounded the ship in International waters. Another thing to add to their breaches of International Law.

Israel has been indiscriminately murdering journalists for months on end already and it has changed nothing.

I know. And they use any and all excuses.

Look, I know it'll never happen, and it would require astounding levels of bravery, but a helicopter theoretically with, say, the ope, the Dali Lama, some prominent politicians, UN Secretary General etc, directly flying aid/journalists etc in would be amazing. Shoot it down, and any remaining support for Israel will drop like a stone. Succeed, and you for the first time get independent foreign correspondents being able to report from inside Gaza, for however long they last before being shot by the IDF, which will cause a lot more outrage than the local journalists getting shot as unfair as that is.

I think Sudan needed her more considering the past few days SM feed out of Gaza.

Sincerely hope none of the brave Israeli soldiers, having to deal with her and her terror supporting shipmates are compromised or put at risk.

I’ve been a bit concerned that those ‘asylum seekers’ they picked up and then dropped off, were part of something sinister to plant something on the boat or give something to them as that seemed like too much of a convenient coincidence.

Will they do that in Sudan and Ukraine too do you think?

Soggybirthdaycamping · 09/06/2025 01:19

It seems like it's all over for them, but well done on trying.

IloveSootyandSweep · 09/06/2025 01:20

Ireland spoke out ( and mentioned any approach in international waters as well @BelleHathor )

Starmers clearly spent the day in bed

It’s a public forum, I can post my opinions the same as you can. What makes you think you can decide who posts.

I do think it’s relevant actually. If you think this war. needs this flying celebrity and media circus, why not other wars?

10UsernamesNotAvailableTryAnotherOne · 09/06/2025 01:25

The IDF doesn't have a great track record when it comes to the Freedom Flotilla and the treatment of their crews. I hope they will be ok!

This isn't a war any more. It's a genocide.
It's the deliberate starvation of a population.
It's the shooting of mother's trying to get food for their families, in front of their children.
It's trying to hush it up by banning journalists from coming in and systematically slaughtering the ones already there.

They don't need a circus
They need a miracle.
At the very least they need the international community to stand up to Israel and tell then to stop, rather then continue to sell then weapons.
Shame on us as a country for our complicity in this.

The BBC updated about 56 minutes ago reporting that the Israeli media say its navy is expected to block the boat before it reaches Gaza.

"We will calmly take control of the ship, bring them to Israel, and deport them abroad that same night" an official told the Jerusalem Post.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0r1dvlkrxgo

Just picking this up again Twiglets as you posted what Israel said they would do so it’s helpful to compare what they said they would do to what’s happened so far.

’we will calmly take control of the boat’

i wonder if spraying it with some sort of chemical that stung the eyes is considered ‘calm’. Although I suppose for the IDF it is

https://www.aljazeera.com/video/newsfeed/2025/6/8/who-is-madleen-the-woman-for-whom-the-aid-ship-approaching-gaza-is-named

The ship was named after a 15 year old Palestinian girl in Gaza, who became Gaza's youngest Fisher after her father became ill and she had to provide for the family. Eventually the Israeli authorities seized her boat and her tools. Hers is a story of resilience.

Brave, brave humans who boarded that boat.

Who is “Madleen”, the woman for whom the aid ship approaching Gaza is named

The aid ship sailing towards Gaza has been named after the enclave’s first and only fisherwoman named Madleen Kulab.
