I knew that things were bad for the Palestinians but after watching the documentary I'm so disgusted by the 'settlers' the government of Israel and especially Daniella Weiss.
Palestinians are referred to as savages and camel riders by a rabbi!
Will we get a chorus of how Louis Theroux is anti- semitic now? The usual battle cry of the Israel supporters

They are also not the usual outliers we see in other societies because they are aided by the state and military in carrying out their terrorism.

Yes it's really minimising the reality to keep saying every society has people like these. 4 attacks each and every day by violent extremists fixated on erasing Palestinians from the area is not something that everywhere has, not even close. It is certainly not something that countries we would normally align ourselves with have. It's really, really serious. The doc that is being discussed showed just how much of an impact these violent extremists have on people. I don't know a single person who watched it and went, ah yes, well something similar happens here too.

I'm not saying they are. I'm saying all societies have extremists. They receive varying levels of support from government. The more support / influence they have, the worse off that society is. It appears to be an awful part of the huge variability of being human in society.

I can't believe you'd bother disagreeing with me about this, unless you believe the Israeli extremists are uniquely awful. Do you?

There's absolutely no comparison with Israeli settler extremists and the support they recieve from the government in carrying out their goals in attacking Palestinians with the EDL or the other examples you gave. The closest example I can think of is the extremist hindutva attacks on Indian minorities that is supported by the police and state in certain areas of India.

Honestly, I don't think you're talking in good faith at all now.

I haven't minimalized it. I've said it's because of people like this that Palestinian and Israeli citizens keep getting slaughtered in this terrible conflict. I don't believe it should be minimalized at all. It's hugely important.

However, just a few miles away in Gaza there's a bunch of extremists who are even more dangerous, even more murderous and even more extreme, if less well resourced. They've murdered 10 of their own citizens in the last few days. They've murdered protesters. They've murdered political opponents. That's what happens when extremists get total control. In this particular conflict, would you rather we aligned with them? If the Israeli extremists got total control of Israel it might look similar vv. Because at heart we are all humans, we are all the same.

My point is that a lot, of not all societies have extremists. It's part of the human condition. I'm not minimalizing it. It's probably the number 1 problem in our world apart from climate change.

The extremists need to not have power. That's my point.

Yes exactly this, even the hindutva attacks on minorities are not at the sheer scale in number and proportion of settler attacks on Palestinian. This is a concerted effort to make life so miserable for them that they are left with no choice but to leave so the extremist zionist goal of annexing the entire occupied territories can be achieved.

Thanks yes, I thought of that too but couldn't remember the name, was going to mention the BJP party too, they used to be extremely problematic a while ago but I haven't kept up to date with India recently. Just was saying extremism is unfortunately common.
