Conflict in the Middle East

Anyone watched the Louis Theroux documentary

Ninerina · 30/04/2025 15:06

I knew that things were bad for the Palestinians but after watching the documentary I'm so disgusted by the 'settlers' the government of Israel and especially Daniella Weiss.
Palestinians are referred to as savages and camel riders by a rabbi!
Will we get a chorus of how Louis Theroux is anti- semitic now? The usual battle cry of the Israel supporters

They said it clearly! Their exact words were what's wrong with saying I am better than them! The gaslighting on this thread is insane.

I don't believe you. That is not the sort of thing I have ever seen them say.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 02/05/2025 10:26

LudvillasCave · 02/05/2025 10:21

Irrelevant as the poster did not say

”The jews went feral”.

If you were confident in your claim you would quote the poster correctly.

They were referring to a group of Jewish men.

Honestly, the way Pro-Palestinians will try and twist themselves to find dismissals or excuses they could be contortion artists 😂

I disagree with your proposition that their intention was to show that Israelis are better than Palestinians. They debate in a reasonable way hence very few deletions considering how often they post. We can all get the odd post deleted and I know you have because I've had to report you sometimes.

We could all find many examples of atrocities carried about by the other side no matter which side we support. You post examples all the time on other threads yet seem annoyed when it is pointed out that Palestinian people can do bad things too.

Yes to all this

I’ve already responded to this question just a few posts up, which you’ve ignored:

”Describing a group of men who are jewish and who are mobbing and attacking a young woman as behaving in a feral way is a completely different statement to saying ‘jews are feral’.

Which if you have more than 2 brain cells doesn’t need pointing out.

Trying to weaponise that statement to misrepresent, discredit and demonise someone whose posts you don’t like is pretty sinister.”

Earlier today you stated:

”Palestinians in the West Bank stab their babies in their cots and mow children down at bus stop”

This is an example of demonising a group of people. By contrast, it wasn’t necessary to paraphrase your post.

The post that was deleted was by @PollyPaintsFlowers so what are you talking about?

I wasn't talking about your post here polly, stop assuming incorrectly once again! it's Old Skull's post that I was responding to which twiglet responded to my response.

Edited

Incase you missed it already which it seems like you have from your replies @Twiglets1

Sorry, because this specific group of men who were mobbing and attacking a young woman were jewish men, any negative characterisation of their behaviour equates to antisemitism?

Your repeated, relentless contention throughout these threads that Palestinian solidarity protesters are violent and aggressive towards counter-protesters is largely why such behaviour by these counter-protesters was highlighted.

Whatsinanamehey · 02/05/2025 10:33

And the poster clearly did say what's wrong with saying they are better than Palestinians and then followed it up with examples to prove why. If you all think that's ok to do then I have nothing left to say.

this thread is about the documentary and when it was filmed he very much was a minister

He is still a minister, the resignation appeared orchestrated. Smotrich returned to the government a few days later.

A group of Jewish men were described as feral and it's somehow my fault? 😂

And as on other threads, you are again attempting to derail the thread from the topic – Lewis Theroux’s documentary on Settlers – to focus instead on your prejudice against Palestinian solidarity protesters.

I credit MNers with enough sense to know that just because it was Palestinians that did those things not all Palestinians are like that. Just like all the Israeli settlers aren't like the ones in the LT programme

Whatsinanamehey · 02/05/2025 10:41

Whatsinanamehey · 02/05/2025 09:57

Fwiw, I have family friends living in the occupied west bank and they said no matter how bad it gets they will not leave. They know the end goal of the settlers is to harass them so much that in the end they have no choice but to leave so they can take over the land. It's a very difficult life.

For anyone who is actually interested about the documentary and how Palestinians are treated in the west bank then the check points are a nightmare. You have a doctors appointment that should be a 20 minute journey but you have to leave a couple of hours in advance because you don't know which IDF soldiers is going to be at the checkpoint that day and some of them will hold you up for hours for no reason given except they are in a bad mood that day or they get a kick out of it.

But surely, post 2 intifadas and 7 October, you understand why checkpoints must be there? I wouldn't say at any point there is 'no reason'.

Those increased restrictions only came into force after the second Intifada when Palestinian suicide bombers blew themselves up on Israeli buses and threw grenades into busy restaurants.

Since the checkpoints there's been far, far less Palestinian terror attacks inside Israel (until 7/10)

PollyPaintsFlowers · 02/05/2025 10:47

There's still terror attacks by Palestinian terrorists at the checkpoints every few weeks, but there's been no suicide attacks or grenade attacks in Israel's interior

It's a regular occurrence where soldiers will abuse their powers and not let Palestinians through check points for hours if they don't like them. These are lived experiences, they are often abused there too.

I'm not talking about why checkpoints are there, I'm talking about the regular abuse of power especially by younger IDF soldiers on Palestinians who are trying to pass through the checkpoints.

I don't doubt that.

There is obviously so much hatred on both sides that there's bound to be a lot of friction at bottlenecks.

Still necessary to have the check points though.

Perhaps when both sides have leadership that would prefer talking to violence everyone's lives will improve.

LudvillasCave · 02/05/2025 10:53

Twiglets1 · 02/05/2025 10:26

I don't believe you. That is not the sort of thing I have ever seen them say.

To be fair, they did say this.

Responding to a poster calling out expressions of superiority over Palestinians, the poster’s response was along the lines of:

’Actually I do feel comfortable saying I am superior to people who do X, Y, and Z [list of violent acts]’
