Anyone watched the Louis Theroux documentary

I knew that things were bad for the Palestinians but after watching the documentary I'm so disgusted by the 'settlers' the government of Israel and especially Daniella Weiss.
Palestinians are referred to as savages and camel riders by a rabbi!
Will we get a chorus of how Louis Theroux is anti- semitic now? The usual battle cry of the Israel supporters

Yes sorry.
I think it would have been interesting if he could have or still can interview the directors of the Oscar winning 'No other land'. To get both the Israeli and Palestinian insight of those working together from both sides to tackle this form of extremism.

I wish he’d do a whole series of different angles. I wish someone would, anyway.

LT is Atheist

That too. Atheist, and ethnically gentile.

I don’t suppose there’s any hope of a normal level of discussion about the issues, without all this inter textual gubbins?

Ah sorry, just seen this.

I'll just say that I'm not lying and can show it if anyone cares that much, I won't add to the gubbins 😉

I have every respect for your childhood experiences as they sound incredibly traumatic but why did your parents choose to bring you up in the occupied territories? You outline the situation in your third paragraph so as an adult now you are aware that these settlements exist outside the law.

As a complete outsider to the very complex historical, political and religious background and context of the documentary one of my observations is how deliberately provocative the outposts consisting of tents which then become settlements (illegal under international law but legal and recognised by the Israeli authorities) are. Isn’t there enough land outside the occupied territories for Israelis and for people moving to Israel to settle in?

I didn't reply because it's not my story so I didn't realise you were talking specifically to me, just sharing hypothetical questions. The name of the author is at the bottom. You can find his article in The Telegraph

Yes, especially as the Palestinian co-director was attacked by settlers and to add insult to injury the IDF arrested him after bring attacked. He says how even winning an Oscar doesn't provide him with even a little more protection from the IDF and the settlers.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 02/05/2025 09:29

True. Yet he's being discussed now as if he's still relevant. He's not.

He is relevant as many of Israel’s current policies are influenced by him. He’s relevant because ita due to people like him that thousands of children have been murdered , it’s relevant to their families . Their children are going to come back to life because he’s resigned .

Twiglets1 · 02/05/2025 10:09

Whatsinanamehey · 02/05/2025 08:15

Do you want me to share examples of Israelis who have murdered a small Palestinian child and then were recorded celebrating his death and other similar heinous crimes?

Some of the posts on this thread are unbelievable and really do prove what LT was showing in his documentary. It's not only the settlers - we see it on mumsnet by some supporters of Israel too.

Oh come on ... in the other thread This is the reality of what Israel is doing now, you post example after example of IDF attacks on civilians, some from reputable sources some not.

No one challenges your right to do that.

What Westerner would want to spend time building a relationship with Hamas though?

Oh please, can you imagine if a poster said 'the Muslims went feral' or 'the blacks went feral'? There'd be rightly an outcry. But normal rules of decenncy don't apply to Jews, huh?

I learned about the Holocaust in school and the gradual dehumanisation of Jews. This country has learned nothing

The poster on the now deleted post was using the examples to show how Israelis are better than Palestinians. Can you show me where I have said that anywhere? Or used examples to try and prove that?

Oh yes I forgot about him 😂
(think he feels more comfortable pontificating from Islington though).

Whatsinanamehey · 02/05/2025 10:17

Unless you also agree with that poster and think it's ok to take select examples to tarnish a people as a whole.

It’s not what they said though is it? The poster doesn’t say “The jews went feral”, do they?

’They’ refers to the mob who attacked the woman.

The poster is also pointing out your inconsistency in calling the protesters provocative by entering a jewish neighbourhood.

That post that was deleted was written by me, and as I've already said to you numerous times it was a comment on Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel supporters. Not about Israelis being better than Palestinians. You're repeatedly taking a deleted post out of context, despite being corrected by its author, and then accusing others of posting in bad faith

Do you want to prove me right about Pro-Palestinian supporters?

I fully agree with this and substituting "Jews" for "Blacks" on these threads is often extremely enlightening.

I wasn't talking about your post here polly, stop assuming incorrectly once again! it's Old Skull's post that I was responding to which twiglet responded to my response.

I'm not inconsistent. Pro-Palestinian protestors travelled to Brooklyn to protest outside a synagogue. How can that not be seen as provocative? Plus, I doubt they were standing there silently. How many silent protests have you seen? It wasn't a vigil.

Irrelevant as the poster did not say

”The jews went feral”.

If you were confident in your claim you would quote the poster correctly.

I disagree with your proposition that their intention was to show that Israelis are better than Palestinians. They debate in a reasonable way hence very few deletions considering how often they post. We can all get the odd post deleted and I know you have because I've had to report you sometimes.

We could all find many examples of atrocities carried about by the other side no matter which side we support. You post examples all the time on other threads yet seem annoyed when it is pointed out that Palestinian people can do bad things too.

They said it clearly! Their exact words were what's wrong with saying I am better than them! The gaslighting on this thread is insane.
