Did anyone see this last night? Heartbreaking and enraging in equal measure.

How old are you?

Old enough.

You just said you agree with a poster who has just suggested that the October 7th massacre was 'debunked'. Did you not notice before cosying up to them? Or is that the sort of company you usually keep?

I was telling my DH about this thread yesterday and he asked me if I'd been accused of being a shill for Israel yet.

No
I didn’t tag that post

Suggest you read back

Well, IS and other Islamic terrorist cells exist without this kind of oppression, so it’s hard to say. Right now Boko Haram are killing and displacing thousands in Nigeria and I don’t see any marches calling for that to stop.

There actually are.

But right now, we're discussing Palestine. It took 40 years of oppression under Israeli apartheid before Hamas was created. So the correct answer to my question is no.

Do you think the existence of Hamas is helpful to the Gazan cause?

Do you think the actions of Hamas on Oct 7 justify a genocide?

Really? Where? Islamic terror groups have been murdering and displacing people for thousands of years. Yet a dispute over a piece of ‘their’ land 25 miles long that began 70 years ago and they find it wholly unacceptable and expect the entire world to demonstrate outrage even after October 7? Dream on!

I don’t think it is a genocide, so no.

Both Amnesty International and the United Nations have deemed it a genocide.

So you're a genocide denier? Weren't you a little while ago implying that I was a holocaust denier? Or was that your friend? A little ironic, no?

Did the Jews attack Germany before the extermination camps were created, murdering and raping over 1000 people? Picking a fight and losing is not genocide. Hamas knew what the response would be. And they did it anyway.

About Jews raping and murdering 1000 Germans?

I've not read the entire thread but cannot seem to find the documentary on iPlayer. Can anyone please provide a link. Many thanks!

Both Amnesty International and the United Nations have deemed it a genocide.

My current understanding is that Amnesty needed to change the definition of genocide to include this and that the ICJ were undecided. the UN had Iran chairing the womens' rights committee among other issues so can be a bit dubious.

Again, this thread was about whether we can blindly trust the authority of our sources.

You can read some sources I shared above and tell me if you trust them

My short answer is no. I can't trust either the guardian nor the BBC for unbiased reporting and Amnesty is a joke.

The same sources that reported on October 7 and yet you don’t believe that?

That's pretty funny, as earlier posters were urging me to find reliable sources 'like the BBC'. But that's ok, that's not the only source I shared.

We are talking post 7 October on this threads surely.
