You haven't been able to answer my question.

You’re the one defending a documentary that’s been pulled.
You’re the one who needs to answer the questions

AnxiousRose · 24/02/2025 07:54

OpheliaWasntMad · 24/02/2025 07:52

It’s not what you say. It’s what you DONT say .

Hamas are murderous thugs who don’t care about the children of Gaza but will happily use them as propaganda tools

Which part of that isn’t true?

Which part of the documentary is untrue?
How have Hamas used thd children of Gaza as propaganda tools in this documentary?

No comment on my statement about Hamas then? 🙄

Clearly some people on this thread want to silence the poor children of Gaza. Because without the information & footage provided by the people in Gaza we would have NO footage, no information. Because Israel do not allow it. Supporters of Israel are trying to discredit the documentary to silence the people of Gaza. It may not be perfect, but it's all we have and it's incredibly valuable.

Still no response to my comment on Hamas

If you truly cared about these poor children you would condemn Hamas

And the bbc can still use the footage but it has to be contextualised and interpreted eith complete transparency. By just accepting it as it is you are doing the people of gaza no favours.

I have said many times that I am not a supporter of Hamas.

So what part of the footage was a untrue?

noblegiraffe · 24/02/2025 08:26

If you want to defend this film you need to be able to say why it can be trusted.

Usually you could point to the BBC as having an excellent track record and stringent controls but they appear to have massively fucked up here.

So why should this film be trusted?

Yes - this is the important point. The viewer needs to understand the viewpoint and context.

I don’t think anyone on this thread is trying to silence the people in Gaza, they’re just wary about Hamas propaganda.
Personally, I think it’s naive to think that the child of a Hamas official would be a reliable source. Otherwise why choose precisely him as the narrator?
Some people on here point out that the documentary is about children and not their parents, but do people really think young children don’t mirror their parents‘ views?
I grew up in a country under a oppressive regime big on propaganda. A documentary narrated by the child of a government official would have shown life in that country precisely how the government wanted it to look like.

So the young child had editorial control of what was shown in this documentary? 🤔

Don’t you think the adults around that child might have had editorial control?

Well the BBC have said the producers had full editorial control, are you saying the BBC are lying?

AnxiousRose · 24/02/2025 08:54

I'm still waiting to hear what part of the documentary is untrue?

Pp‘s list didn’t mention beheaded babies or the baby in the oven though, what she said was:

Hamas, who conducted the October 7th massacre raping, torturing and murdering people and posting it on social media, who took hostages and paraded the coffins of dead babies to music and crowds might conceivably be incorrectly viewed as terrorists?

So what exactly has been debunked?

How would we know? We are not the journalists doing the interviews and reviewimg the footage, fact checking it and doing due diligence. That was the BBCs job. Thats tbe point.
