Israelis & Jews are the people best placed to spot who wants to do them harm.

And we will prevent it.

It's a bit like the line in the Lundy Bancroft book when the abused women gets free: 'I can survive without you & I know what's best for me.'

No more Jews with trembling knees.

Never again is now.

Tough luck if that gets the antisémites frothing.

" I heard an Israeli speaking on Palestinian human rights issues, an interesting guy, and he said 'There's no military solution to terrorism. If there were, Israel would be the safest place in the world. But there's no military solution.'"

I tend to agree.

Who is killing as many people as possible in the middle east? Should we compare figures?

I'm not sure why you're asking me this 'whataboutery' question, I don't have the statistics to hand, but I'd imagine the results will confirm my suspicions that you'd have to be really stupid to start a war with people who are far better at it than you are.

I was answering a specific question posed by EasterIsland.

It really doesn't take long for the anti Irish rhetoric to rear its head when politicians fairly criticise war crimes perpetrated by Israel.

The double standards are shocking on this thread. I would also call the anti Irish sentiment expressed on it bordering on racism to be honest.

Absolutely! To bring up a country who was historically at its lowest point and to twist events to try to justify what Israel are doing today is just ridiculous, and says a lot about the intentions of such posters.

The lengths people go to deflect...

@TheOliveGoose

You speak Arabic? Hebrew?

Have lived in the ME? Have seriously studied it's history?

Have family & friends caught up in conflict?

I doubt it, yet so many of you are geopolitical experts / international lawyers on CITME with vast cultural knowledge of Israel!?

And get salty when your own false equivalencies to the Troubles & the PLO involvement are pointed out.

Catch yourself on!

Auvergne63 · 19/09/2024 09:42

even potential combatant.
Do you include babies and children in this? What about pregnant women? After all, they could become terrorists when they grow up.
Frankly, your post is disturbing on so many levels and a window onto what you really think, i.e. kill them all.

If you can't explain it, then that's all you needed to say. I'm happy to leave things there.

I'm not the one being salty. Have you read your posts 😂

When someone is trying to kill you, you either fight for your survival or roll over.

La bêtise insiste toujours.

Why are so many people insistent & gleeful (as seen on this thread) at the idea of the deaths of Israelis & Jews, & the destruction of the Jewish homeland?

It's delusional to think that the attacks on Israel will stop without deterrence & military strategy. C'est de la mauvaise foi.

Well if fighting terrorism with military actions worked, the attacks on Israel would have stopped years ago. Let's not forget that Israel has the upper hand here when it comes to military capability.
The violence only stops when people involve talk but you need willingness on both parts and understanding. I doubt this will happen as all parties have a vested interest in carrying on killing.
An eye for an eye and the world goes blind, after all.

Serious accusation again. Please provide evidence to support this.

The October 7th attack was the trigger for all this escalation

I have not seen a single mention here, other than yours, of people wanting the destruction of Israel. Is that actually what you are seeing?

The October 7th attack was the trigger for all this escalation

Followed swiftly by Hezbollah's attacks in support of Hamas.

HopeMumsnet · 19/09/2024 10:04

Hi all,
Re the question of whether Hezbollah is a terrorist organisation. This has been an interesting discussion over the last couple of days and it's clear that the organisation is a complex entity.
However, the UK govt has it proscribed here. It is listed under the name Hizballah, which is perhaps why some Mumsnetters didn't see it before.
We would take our cues from that source and from this point we request no further attempt to paint the organisation otherwise.

Proscribed terrorist groups or organisations

Are you actually joking at a time like this? That's really tasteless and despicable. Dehumanisation like that is really awful, yet a common denominator of warfare and genocide. Please think before you joke. Not cool!

I'm not sure terrorists in hezbollah are worthy of any sympathy.

DuskyBlueDepartingLight · 19/09/2024 10:04

@Auvergne63

How was WWII won?

How were the Nazis defeated?

You've presumably benefitted from peace in the West thanks to the soldiers that fought that war.

War is sometimes necessary and just.

Disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

The constant digs at Judaism by people who clearly know very little about Judaism have been noted.

The October 7th attack was the trigger for all this escalation

So you can justify this by mentioning October 7? Can October 7 be justified by mentioning past Israeli aggressions? Of course not! So please don't bother!

Whilst it might have been the trigger , there was a lot that contributed to it before 7-10

Thank you.

They are not fluffy freedom fighters they are terrorists. I wish people would stop excusing their actions, firing missiles into another country comes with consequences. Why people romanticise them is beyond me.

They don't do anything to improve the lives of their own people either.

I have not justified anything with that short post. There's no point in trying to rewrite posts like this.

I said the attack on October 7 was the trigger for the escalation we see now.
