We're moving into [pot-calling-kettle-] black comedy now arent we?

Care to elaborate?

Two beeps and a pause was the only warning Yusuf got. He turned around to face the noise, thinking it was one of his medical instruments, but instead was met with an explosion, throwing shrapnel into his leg. His patient fared much worse.

What a deranged article. There's barely a mention of the fact the targets were terrorists - if the doctor's patient's pager blew up then the doctor's patient was presumably a terrorist, he should be angry at him. Strange that the article doesn't address this... It seems to be trying to insinuate that all who were damaged were innocent, which is peculiar - why doesn't it ask why so many innocent people happened to have hezbollah issued pagers?

But now the poor doctor's sore leg means he's going to hold a grudge so severe he'll attempt to indoctrinate his own great-great-grandchild - presumably this gigantic grudge is against hezbollah? Oddly the guardian doesn't specify... Hopefully for all our sakes, including Yusef's great-great-grandchild, hezbollah will be long gone before he gets the chance. And it's not clear why Raydan is worried about Israel blowing her up in her bedroom - unless she's also a terrorist (or has somehow accidently come into the possession of a hezbollah-issued pager, like all the other innocent victims apparently did).

You'd think that the non-terrorists would be happy someone's blowing up the baddies for them, very weird how the article doesn't seem to speak to anyone at all who's not sympathetic to hezbollah...

Why on earth would you presume the patient was a terrorist? What a strange thing to say.

According to you, Israel are tracking doctors and the next patient they are seeing???

'The scale was “far greater” than that of the Beirut port blast some four years earlier, the largest non-nuclear explosion in human history, which left more than 7,000 injured, Lebanon’s health minister, Firas Abiad, said.'

What absolute nonsense. This is the port explosion:
(Just the explosion, does not contain any scenes of death or injury.)

The Port of Beirut blast killed 218 people, injured over 7,000 and caused about US $15 billion of damage. It was the result of corruption and mismanagement by some Lebanese government ministers and their cronies so I'm sure they must be delighted to shift the focus away from their being held to account for that catastrophe and how the Lebanese people are still suffering because of it.

There's some really irresponsible wordplay in that article.

Seriously? You can't work it out for yourself? Maybe try reading more a more reputable news source...

The devices were delivered to one group of people weren't they?

Some of you have such strong opinions based on nothing as you reveal yourselves in your comments to have no clue on the history of the area, both recent and distant.

Itsmostlygristle · 18/09/2024 19:57

It’s scary to read in fact.

Given people tend to wear pagers around their waist and to the front I think Hezbollah has been emasculated in more ways than once.......

@Zzippit

Interestingly there were allegations of Hezbollah involvement in the Port of Beirut explosion as it occurred at a site storing Hezbollah weapons.

Hezbollah denied these allegations but has been actively involved in demonstrations against the investigation into the explosion.

What’s really scary, scarier than our thoughts and opinions, is what the timeline ahead will look like and what the people in the region have faced and are going to continue facing. This is a terrifying escalation on top of a terrifying, ongoing catastrophe.

The escalation was Oct 7th & Hezbollah being so keen & quick to attack Israel in support. Everything goes back to that.

So hoping this gets taken up as their new name; sort of like how isis became daesh but sooo much better 😁

ThisOldThang · 18/09/2024 21:00

The only reason ISIS were referred to as daesh was because the western media and politicians couldn't bring themselves to use the first word in the acronym and didn't want their populations asking awkward questions or making obvious connections.

Channel 4 interviewed a leading human rights lawyer Professor Sir Geoffrey Nice who explains why you cannot just say Hezbollah bad/pager attack on them good.

That actually hadn't occurred to me - I naively believed the BBC saying it was just cause they didn't like it. Regardless, I think hezballess will like this even less - and that's absolutely fine by me :)
