Just this is really ...how did they do it? Was this the secret service on steroids?

I wonder if there will be protest marches this weekend?

How did you ask dead people what they think? I was there and I’m alive.

I'm sorry that my rhetorical device of a figurative argument confused you so.

I shall stick to simpler arguments and plain sentences for you from now on.

If anyone organising this actually cared about not harming innocents, the pagers would have gone off in the evening.
The lack of regard for innocent humans and particularly children in this conflict is just disgusting.

Not all countries send their children to bed at 7pm. The average in the middle east is apparently 22:45.

The evening is likely to be family time, so there would be a higher risk of injuring children.

How the hell did the Israeli's mange to cause the exploding pagers?

Ooh I bet. I wonder what they'll wear

justasking111 · 18/09/2024 13:44

Bloodied rags perhaps.

justasking111 · 18/09/2024 13:48

The thing is Israel haven't admitted anything. America said I know nothing which will be echoed across the western world.

I wonder if in all the panic terrorists worldwide will be back on their phones talking which myriad intelligence services will be listening to.

I thought that the protest marches were in support of Gaza rather than Hezballess.

1dayatatime · 18/09/2024 13:50

Sorry that should read Hezbollah.

Damn autocorrect.

Thrre have regularly been supporters of both Hamas and Hezbollah visible at marches.

Not to mention the support of those loveable female-enslavers, the Houthis.

Oh yes, some very catchy marching songs bigging them up on those peaceful marches!

What about all the other Lebanese children killed since October 8th by Israeli attacks? What about the Lebanese children that have had to evacuate as well?

The last estimate I read was 100,000 Lebanese have been displaced compared to 60,000 Israelis due to the cross border attacks.

If you are ok with this sort of terror attack, then you would presumably also be ok with the Lebanese or Iranian army ‘neutralising’ IDF reservists in the shops with explosives…

It's a terrible shame. But the blame 100% lies with Hezbollah who started this war with israel at the behest of their Iranian masters. Israel has no argument with Lebanon. Hezbollahs stated aim is the destruction of israel.

Exactly, as is Iran's.

From the guardian

Reuters is reporting that Lebanon’s Hezbollah said on Wednesday that it had attacked Israeli artillery positions with rockets in the first cross-border attack since the Tuesday pager blast

—-

a poster mentioned that yesterdays attack might have affected hezbollahs infrastructure and it might mean that people can move to the north and live safely for a while.

well, it didn’t take that long to hezbolah to reply back to Israel. If I was me, as said yesterday I’d not be moving back to that area for a long time.

Those responsible for a deadly wave of explosions across Lebanon targeting paging devices used by members of the Hezbollah militant group “must be held to account”, the UN rights chief said on Wednesday.
“Simultaneous targeting of thousands of individuals, whether civilians or members of armed groups, without knowledge as to who was in possession of the targeted devices, their location and their surroundings at the time of the attack, violates international human rights law and, to the extent applicable, international humanitarian law,” Volker Türk said in a statement, reports Agence France-Presse (AFP).

i can see that EU has also been critical about this attack. I’m glad that international organisations aren’t happy with this attack and worried about Israels actions. Glad that they agree with my thinking

Not even in the top 15 news articles on the Daily Mail (that bastion of journalistic integrity) - this is old news now - be forgotten about by tomorrow.

TheOliveGoose · 18/09/2024 14:50

It's good the UN are speaking out about another violation of International humanitarian law by Israel.

Irelands foreign minister said “The nature of the attack illustrates a wanton disregard for the lives of people because these pagers with explosives put into them went off in public areas and supermarkets and around people going out about their daily lives. It meant that many innocent civilians – men, women and children – were caught up in this.'

This is very true, Israel had no way of knowing where the pagers would be, who would be hurt and they and their supporters clearly don't care.

gladius · 18/09/2024 14:56

The anti-Israel sentiment continues to flow freely from Ireland then.

Ireland is against occupation and colonialism, for obvious reasons. Also the country has a defence force rather than a military and prides itself on its peacekeeping missions, UNIFIL included. Leaders speaking out against war crimes and breaches of international law should be welcomed.

Why pick on Ireland? there were similar statements from EU and UN. Ireland aren't an outlier on this

Colonialism is it? Let’s send those colonisers back to wherever they came from, let them sit quietly and wait for the next pogrom. FFS
