I set out above all the countries who have designated Hezbollah a terrorist organisation. Why do you persist in insisting they are not?

Have the UN deployed peace keepers to Gaza to safeguard the civilian population due to Israel contravening the articles of the Geneva Convention on protecting civilians?

You know, like they did in Serbia?

They haven't?

I wonder why that is.

Edited

The UN peacekeepers didn’t do anything except sit and watch the genocide. You’re mistaken if you think we intervened. We didn’t.

Really doubt that. The explosions weren’t big enough, if you were standing about half a foot away from one you wouldn’t have been affected particularly. You would have to be in physical contact with it close to your body to be harmed. The link above shows a man who has one in his bag, literally no-one hurt when it goes off.

To believe that the majority are civilians you would have to think that the Israelis set off random pagers bombs. Clearly Israelis are anything but stupid so I doubt that.

But that is exactly what some posters think.

Where? I haven’t seen it?

Yes, that's right. I don't care in the slightest about Hezbollah terrorists being targeted and I'm pleased that this was done on such a scale with so little innocent deaths or destruction of infrastructure and homes. I have concerns over where this will lead but if it stops more children being killed in Israel, no problem whatsoever.

Yeah, I think you made that clear. So long as it's only Lebanese children being killed not Israeli it's fine by you, 'no problem whatsoever'.

No. Lebanon claims Shebaa farms as its own territory which Syria has agreed with. Historically, it was Lebanese with inhabitants paying taxes to the Lebanese government.

Israel claims the territory belonged to Syria and it was ok for it to seize it in 1981 when it invaded Syria and seized the Golan Heights from Syria,

Syria and Lebanon had agreed it was Lebanese (1920s) before Hezbollah existed (1982), so your rationale would require a Time Machine to be plausible.

It’s not a war yet between Lebanon and Israel. Just like we aren’t at war with Yemen despite the military pressure we are putting on the Houthis pirating shipping in the Red Sea.

Yes, I am saying that Hezbollah started to attack Israel on 8th October to militarily pressure Israel to a ceasefire in Gaza. They started attacking the day after Israel started its retaliatory air assault on Gaza on October 7th.

It was 8 October. The only people who had broken a ceasefire were Hamas. This is outrageous revisionism.

Lalaloveya · 18/09/2024 12:19

amigafan2003 · 18/09/2024 11:45

In all the investigations, almost none of the Israeli attacks in Gaza have been proven to be 'indescrimante' and in those case where no military targets have been found, that's often a mistake (failure of intelligence or targeting failure), rather than deliberate targeting of civilians. In nearly all cases the targets have been legitimate military targets.

The fact that Hamas embed themselves with civilian populations/infrastructure is often overlooked.

Israel carrying out investigations into its own crimes is hardly compelling evidence.

Keep wondering.
More UN workers have been killed by Israel in Gaza in the last year, than any other conflict in the world.

No, that's not true. Israel captured it from SYRIA in 1967 and had ruled it since. Lebanon did not take part in the 6 day war. Prior to 1946, it had been cosnidered Lebanon but from 1946, it was Syria (in fact, they even argued with Lebanon over it to claim it was theirs).
After Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, Syria said "Oh, actually, it's Lebanon. Yeah, sorry, we forgot" They never said that before
Interestingly (ha ha), both Syria and Lebanon refuse to demarcate the border on a map despite multiple requests from the UN because they know it's bullshit and Syria actually wants to eventually get it back.
it's such a lie to give Hezbollah a pretend reason to "resist"
The UN has certified that Israel has 100% withdrawn from Lebanon.

In Syria, Hezbollah intentionalyl targeted civilians with mortars

??? Please point to where I said Hezbollah were decent guys who fought fair and deserve a break. My post was about how Israel clearly has amazing resources and abilities to carry out targeted interventions, yet there is very little evidence of them using these skills in Gaza to reduce civilian casualties.

Well, we could start with hezbollah stopping attacking Israel. Let's see what happens...

Isn’t that when Israel and Gaza agree to a ceasefire, and stop escalating the violence.

It’s not the one where people cheer and celebrate violence. That’s the wrong one.

Not at all. You're the one forgetting the 12 children in Israel killed by Hezbollah firing missiles into Israel plus all the children displaced from their homes due to Hezbollah.

I'm saying that sad as it is, thousands of Hezbollah terrorists injured and effectively neutralised is a legitimate target and 2 children killed would be considered a very very low level of collateral damage. Maybe this will prevent the next 12 children being killed.

Sorry? I just said Hezbollah attacked on 8th October, same as you and Farang.
Which ceasefire are you referring to?

What is revisionist about all of us agreeing that Hezbollah started attacking on 8th October?

Separate issue. Eventually also involves a Palestinian state but that's not the conflict with Lebanon.

Hezbollah don't give a twat about Gaza. Their aim is the destruction of Israel and a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to them.

Are you referring to the UN commission of inquiry from June? That report found that Palestinian militant groups and the IDF were responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Sure but this post was specifcally regarding the Hezbollah pager incident
