This article is being misinterpreted- which is understandable as it is not accurately representing the truth (propaganda?).

The WHO site tells us:

  • The Gaza Strip had a high level of vaccination coverage across the population before the escalation of hostilities in October 2023. However, due to the impact of the conflict, routine immunization coverage (for the second dose of inactivated polio vaccine) dropped from 99 per cent in 2022 to less than 90 per cent in the first quarter of 2024, increasing the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases to children, including polio.
  • The risk of cVDPV2 spread, within the Gaza Strip and internationally, remains high given gaps in children's immunity due to disruptions in routine vaccination, decimation of the health system, constant population displacement, malnutrition and severely damaged water and sanitation systems. The situation has also increased the risk of the spread of other vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles as well as cases of diarrhoea, acute respiratory infections, hepatitis A and skin diseases among children.

The only way Israel is facilitating the vaccination program is by agreeing not to bomb specific areas for specified periods of time so that parents bring their children for vaccination! They are not supplying the vaccine nor supporting the administration. UNRWA is one of those helping! And yes - the region will become a trouble spot for polio, so Israel needs this to happen.

How is it twisting things? That's what posters here were saying.

It can't be genocide because they stopped the genocide for a few hours over a few days. It would be a laughable argument if it weren't so depraved.

But can you provide a quote? I haven’t seen the precise comment(s) and paraphrasing someone else’s words is very misleading

Limesodaagain · 02/09/2024 22:13

Lettherebejustice · 02/09/2024 21:51

@Limesodaagain blaming the deaths of thousands in Gaza as 'factual causation' is exactly that.

I’m not clear what your point is here

Again - it would be helpful to have the actual quote in context so that I can understand your objection.

Can you not go back a few pages yourself? Here's one. Took me several seconds to find.

Has enough been done to tackle incitement to genocide?

The screen shot doesn’t really support your claim though? It’s asking why a genocidal regime would vaccinate the “enemy “?

Limesodaagain · 02/09/2024 22:26

The vaccination programme is obviously in Israel’s interest. It doesn’t make them any better or worse.

God OK. I'll explain it like you're 5.

The post is suggesting that Israel couldn't possibly be genocidal because they're allowing Palestinians to be vaccinated. Which is exactly what I said in my post.

Are you seriously equating Iran’s involvement with that of “US and other nations providing military arms in this conflict”?

There isn’t equity in scale or intention or morality, but their roles of arming and using another to fight a proxy war are not dissimilar.

Hamas is proxy for Iran
Israel is proxy for the USA

Dulra has a point there.

Why do we vaccinate our hens against salmonella?
Hint: It’s not for the hens benefit alone.

Agreed ( that was sort of my point- perhaps I wasn’t clear )

This is a disgusting post. In what way is Israel a proxy for the US? What wars is Isrsel fighting on behalf of the US? Iran runs a brutal dictatorship which terrorises its people and practices religious and sex-based apartheid and sponsors terrorism in tbe region particularly against Israel but its pernicious i fluence is felt by ordinary people everywhere it operates - including the ordinary Palestimians which you profess to care about.

The Times of Israel agrees:
”In a letter to the directors of the WHO and UNICEF, Dr. Hagai Levine noted that two young brothers, Kfir Bibas, 1, and Ariel Bibas, 5, are among the hostages. He also says many of the adult hostages are overdue for booster shots.
“Given their vulnerable position and the lack of essential vaccinations, the hostages are at severe risk,” Levine, who also serves as head of the health division for the Hostage Families Forum umbrella group, wrote in the letter.”

Israel is fighting Iran’s proxy as a proxy for the USA.

It’s not hard to understand why the USA has armed and funded Israel to the tune of $bns every year.

Let’s not pretend that the USA has never been an aggressor in the Middle East.

They certainly used Saudi Arabia as a proxy against Iraq in the past.

There is a long history of proxies. Russia and China have proxies too. It’s a geopolitical reality.

”Proxy war” is a universal strategy it’s not limited to only baddies using them.

Wow. I can't believe this post 😂

Why do you think the US funds Israel's war/genocide machine?

And supporting Israel whilst complaining about other countries being apartheid states and terrorising people. Unbelievable.

It is an act of humanity though. A concession to the families of the hostages and Palestinian children- both groups are innocents in all this. That gives me hope for an eventual ceasfire.

SharonEllis · 02/09/2024 22:50

@ToBeDetermined just because it is in the US's very obvious strategic interests to support Israel does not mean Israel is a proxy. The US snd the UK & other Western democratic governments support Israel because it would br a catastrophe to allow Iran and others to destroy Israel and kill half the world's Jewish people. Israel is a thriving successful country and an important trading partner.

Do you know ANYTHING about Iran?
I think you’ve been lost in an echo chamber for far too long

SharonEllis · 02/09/2024 22:54

@Lalaloveya if you had spent any time with Iranian exiles, as I have you would be thoroughly ashamed.

I really don't understand the but they are breaking international law worse argument. International law is supposed to be the line you don't cross. When you cross you lose the support of law abiding countries or else they become accessories in those crimes,or at least that is how it is supposed to work. Both Israel and Iran share one awful truth, they don't respect International law and as a result innocent people suffer. Oh but they do it worse shouldn't be some kind of excuse to sweep one countries crimes under the rug. Both need to be condemned for the crimes that they choose to commit.
