A BBC reporter has written that they've seen a list of 34 names of hostages Hamas claim to be willing to release in a ceasefire, and that the list includes "young children that Hamas previously said had been killed in an Israeli air strike". The article is on the BBC website.

Did Hamas lie when they said they had died or are they lying now pretending they are alive. Is there no end to the horror that is Hamas.

The agony for the family thinking they had died, now that they are alive, but still captive, its unbearable.

I agree. The continuing torture.

stomachamelon · 06/01/2025 09:43

@Scirocco have you got a link for that as I haven’t seen it either. It’s a bold statement from a BBC reporter.

It's mentioned in this article

Protesters gather for a rally calling for action to secure the release of Israeli hostages held captive since the 7 October 2023 attacks by Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, outside the Defence Ministry in Tel Aviv, 28 December, 2024

Israel Gaza war: Hamas lists 34 hostages it may free under ceasefire

The list is released as new Israeli air strikes kill dozens in Gaza over the weekend.

Scirocco · 06/01/2025 09:49

Despite the headline, a lot of the article isn't about the hostages, though...

So the hostages released might be dead anyway. They may get theie bodies back. Hamas haven't been clear if dead or alive and has previously said a number of the hostages were killed in air strikes. For the families all hostages that are alive and any retained bodies of loved ones need releasing.

It's so cruel. Even now, they're refusing to even confirm who's alive and who isn't. All we can do is hope and pray.

I'm hoping, and this might be a stretch, but if there was a previous reference to 34 living hostages, could this be that list...?

Who knows. Hamas are incredibly cruel. Imo it's part of how they operate, they hold power over families by dangling hostages as bargaining chips. They may be alive, they may be dead.

stomachamelon · 06/01/2025 11:42

@Scirocco the reference to the 34 before was that 34 were the initial vulnerable hostages Israel wanted released first.

quantumbutterfly · 06/01/2025 14:09

It is good that they include the 2 that were taken way before 7/10. Their families have been in torment for a decade. It's hard for most people to imagine living with that.

Thank you for keeping us updated.

This the Haaretz brief about the Hamas hostage list.

  • A senior Hamas official shared with the BBC a list of hostages that the organization has agreed to release in the first phase of a hostage release deal, without specifying if they are alive or dead. According to the report, Hamas requires an additional week to provide further details about the condition of each of the hostages on the list.
  • PM Netanyahu's office said thatIsrael has received no response or any approval from Hamas on the condition of the hostages on the list, adding that it was not provided to Israel by Hamas, but was originally given by Israel to mediators in July 2024.
  • The Hostages and Missing Families Forum said the families are "deeply shaken and distressed by the list " and that "the time has come for a comprehensive agreement that will bring back all hostages… We know more than half are still alive and need immediate rehabilitation, while those who were murdered must be returned for proper burial."
  • In a joint press conference, relatives of Israeli hostagesattacked Netanyahu for promoting a partial hostage deal. Yaron Or, father of hostage Avinatan Or, said: "My son is being left behind. That's what the prime minister decided. He decided that it was better not to decide."
  • Security guards at Israel's parliament barred Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan is held in Gaza, from entering for the second time in as many weeks. Last week, the Knesset spokesperson said her entry was blocked "due to the fact that, despite repeated assurances, she continued to disrupt order within the premises, interfered with the proper functioning of committee discussions, and attempted to throw a glass bottle at a guest in the Knesset.”
…………….

What the families must be feeling cannot be imagined, let alone the hell of the hostages’ every moment. Pray that these hostages on the list get out at soon as possible now and then the others afterwards.

They need to be eliminated from planet Earth.

Along with anyone who supports them, their hatred of both Jewish and Arab people, the religious radicals, the misogynists and homophobes.

Hamas are still there sadly, they still hide away and are still firing rockets into Israel.

"The Hostages and Missing Families Forum said the families are "deeply shaken and distressed by the list " and that "the time has come for a comprehensive agreement that will bring back all hostages… We know more than half are still alive and need immediate rehabilitation, while those who were murdered must be returned for proper burial."" This is so important.

stomachamelon · 07/01/2025 22:09

I am going to keep my opinion to myself until more information is forthcoming. It's a very mixed bag across the media and the families reaction to the 'Schindler's list' is understandable.

The Bibas'..... I just can't.

"The body of hostage Youssef Ziyadne was found in a tunnel in the Gaza Strip, The Times of Israel has learned.

In the same tunnel, the military located findings that raised heavy concerns for the life of his son, Hamza Ziyadne, who was abducted alongside him.

Youssef’s body and the other findings were brought to Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for identification. The IDF is continuing to operate in the area where the body was to locate additional findings.

Members of the Ziyadne family told the media that they were informed that Youssef and Hamza’s bodies were found and recovered, but the IDF has not officially confirmed that news."

Times of Israel:

"Youssef was abducted by Hamas terrorists during the October 7, 2023 onslaught, along with three of his children, Hamza, Bilal Ziyadne, 18, and Aisha Ziyadne, 17, while working in Kibbutz Holit.

Bilal and Aisha were released on November 30, 2023, after more than 50 days in Hamas captivity.

Until now, Youssef and Hamza were presumed alive.

Youssef, 53, married with two wives and 19 children, was working in the kibbutz cowshed. Hamza, 22, married and father of two, and Bilal, 18, were working with their father, while their sister Aisha had joined them for the morning.

The family lives in Rahat, in the Ziyadne neighborhood, named for their extensive family clan."

Very sad news.

Hamas continue to use the tunnel network to keep and transport hostages.

They need sealing up after the war ends
