Back to the thread title.
Article in Times of Israel today.

Sorry if this causes distress.

Horrific. No one here supports or condones thus or any other Hamas depravity.

Dulra · 29/12/2024 16:05

stomachamelon · 29/12/2024 15:58

@Dulra and yet on numerous threads you do exactly the same thing when anyone is deemed to be supporting Israel.

yet it is used constantly as a form of ridicule to discredit people.

Just to add your comparison is not accurate, people DO support Israel my issue is with people accusing posters of supporting terrorists, which they DON'T and ridiculing them for it as in ridiculing them for something they don't support. I have no issue with a true terrorist supporter being ridiculed and banned from this site.

450 days of not knowing

450 days

how many more days ?!!!

1 ? 10 ? 100 ? 450 ?!!!

Yes I apologise for my part. I didn't realise what thread we were posting on as I have been involved in various discussions about the importance of remembering the hostages.

stomachamelon · 29/12/2024 16:36

@OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon apologies.

Booby trapped civilian tech is a war crime. Another one to add to the list.

How many civilians use pagers? In any case this thread is about the hostages not general critism of Israel.

LoremIpsumCici · 29/12/2024 18:02

I was hoping the rest of the surviving hostages would be free by now. It seems yet again our hopes for a ceasefire and release have been dashed.

YoYoYoYo12345 · 30/12/2024 07:46

Dulra · 29/12/2024 15:41

Most up to date article on the pager attack for anyone interested. I don't think people disagreeing with a method used to target terrorist is the same as being a terrorist supporter. I am yet to see a poster provide evidence that there are any terrorist supporters posting on these pages yet it is used constantly as a form of ridicule to discredit people.

The attack has been considered a war crime and for those posters that get irritated that Israel is pulled up on war crimes when terrorists aren't, would they be happier for Israel to pull out of the Geneva convention which it ratified in 1951.

Lebanon strongly condemned the pager and walkie-talkie attacks, while the UN's human rights chief, Volker Turk, said they had left him "appalled".

The method of attacks, he said, "violates international human rights law and, as applicable, international humanitarian law".

It led to tge end of lots of Hezbollah which led to their demise in Syria which led to the overthrowing of Assad which lead to new hope in Syria. Strange world.

Good point.

Any news on the latest ceasefire?

stomachamelon · 31/12/2024 14:27

Update....

Israelis held hostage in Gaza - part 4
SharonEllis · 31/12/2024 14:30

Sadistic bastards. There is no excuse for holding on to the hostages. None whatsoever.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 31/12/2024 14:38

34

Scirocco · 31/12/2024 16:00

34... That's terrible. This whole thing is so cruel. And to say they have 12 deceased people too, without any further information... Heartless.

Scirocco · 31/12/2024 16:47

Actually, re-reading, could it be that 34 was the number they agreed for the particular stage, but there are more who were going to be released in subsequent stages...? Trying to see some hope, that number just seemed so horrifying...

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 31/12/2024 17:01

I took it to mean there are 34 living hostages. full stop.

I then Googled and found
from The Times OF Israel, dated today at 10.32 am
'Hamas said willing to free only 22 of 34 living hostages demanded by Israel in deal'

That's how I initially read it too. I'm hoping I'm mistaken...

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 31/12/2024 17:09

I couldn't finish my reply above as due to cut and paste everything else i typed was in bold.
and it would be inappropriate to write anything else in bold.

I think my first reply of 34 said it all. for me.

34 - is that all ?!!!

really ?

I am sure other people that read that must think / feel
shock / horror / disbelief / sad / sadness

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 31/12/2024 17:14

and 12 deceased hostages - their families / friends need to be able to bury them.

The families / friends need to know who they are.

stomachamelon · 31/12/2024 18:14

The number 34 is the first round of releases. It's those with humanitarian needs eg chronically ill, elderly, females.
The number overall is still 100.

Thanks. I saw it and feared the worst.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 31/12/2024 19:00

Thank goodness for that ! thank you for the clarification @stomachamelon

They all need to be released.

YoYoYoYo12345 · 01/01/2025 14:15

I hope they can release them soon
