@ScrollingLeaves
I clearly said the Iranian Regime a. Umber of times . You have quoted me incorrectly. "Basically Iran / and Hamas leaders" Note, Iran and Hamas leaders! Not Iran itself or its people.

The circumstances are different in Iran. I doubt your average Iranian is using its people as human shields or storing / launching attacks from their homes. Spot the difference?

Let's see if those evil ayatollahs play ball....

Bombs do not just hit leaders while leaving everyone around them intact.

Wow, You've got me there. Checkmate.
Bed time.

Pagers were pretty good at getting their intended target mind you.

Booby trapped civilian tech is a war crime. Another one to add to the list.

stomachamelon · 29/12/2024 13:27

@SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice if you honestly think that’s true I hope they go through the owners of those pagers one by one and show the evidence they hold on them. I am positive Mossad didn’t target them specifically for the fun of it. ‘Civilian tech’ that made me chuckle. Anything to avoid what’s in front of your nose :)

Attacking terrorists is not a war crime.

Agreed.

Civilian tech, that's made me smile, not heard that before. What a ridiculous comment.

A car is civilian tech, until it's used by terrorists to mow down innocent people. Then it's a weapon....

I give up! 🤷🏼‍♂️

Beep beep terrorist.
"Who's there?"
Mossad
"Moss....."
Bye bye

Excuse me if I don't weep for terrorists.

Its a strange world on here. No space for empathy for the hostages but we are supposed to worry about terrorists. Make it make sense!

Attacking terrorists is not a war crime.

Using booby trapped civilian tech is a war crime no matter who you are attacking. 🧐

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 29/12/2024 14:15

It’s what the laws of armed conflict say.
https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/09/exploding-pagers-and-radios-terrifying-violation-international-law-say-un

“Humanitarian law additionally prohibits the use of booby-traps disguised as apparently harmless portable objects where specifically designed and constructed with explosives – and this could include a modified civilian pager, the experts said. A booby-trap is a device designed to kill or injure, that functions unexpectedly when a person performs an apparently safe act, such as answering a pager.”

Combatants are legitimate targets under international law. Not sure that 'civilian tech' is a legal concept.

SugarandSpiceandAllThingsNaice · 29/12/2024 14:17

The law against booby trapping civilian tech isn’t to protect terrorists but to protect innocent civilians from being injured or killed.

Yes they are legitimate targets but not every method of attack is legitimate. You’ve been on these boards long enough to know this.

I don't refer to this board for legal expertise 🤣

I have expressed a lot of empathy for the hostages, I was responding to stoma chameleon post praising the exploding beepers/radios by expressing the fact that it isn’t an attack that should be praised because it was a war crime which Israel has finally admitted to doing. Where is empathy for the innocent civilians including children killed and injured by the exploding beepers?

If you are on the side of morality, then don’t have double standards. A war crime is a war crime no matter who is attacking whom.

I do rather think you have kept yourself in a state of wilful ignorance regarding humanitarian law.

Most up to date article on the pager attack for anyone interested. I don't think people disagreeing with a method used to target terrorist is the same as being a terrorist supporter. I am yet to see a poster provide evidence that there are any terrorist supporters posting on these pages yet it is used constantly as a form of ridicule to discredit people.

The attack has been considered a war crime and for those posters that get irritated that Israel is pulled up on war crimes when terrorists aren't, would they be happier for Israel to pull out of the Geneva convention which it ratified in 1951.

Lebanon strongly condemned the pager and walkie-talkie attacks, while the UN's human rights chief, Volker Turk, said they had left him "appalled".

The method of attacks, he said, "violates international human rights law and, as applicable, international humanitarian law".

yet it is used constantly as a form of ridicule to discredit people.

Me personally? I have no issue with Israel my issue was with Netanyahu and his extremist Ministers.
