Haaretz:

130 Israeli Soldiers Declare They Will Refuse to Serve Unless Gov't Seeks Hostage Deal

'For some of us, the red line has been crossed already': Reservists and draftees across multiple military branches warn that they'll cease service if hostage negotiations aren't prioritized.

Israelis held hostage in Gaza - part 4
israelilefty · 27/10/2024 12:17

Wanted to share as I found the sheer humanity and inner strength in this programme deeply moving: an episode of Israel's TV programme "Sorry for asking..." in which a number of hostages who returned from captivity answer frank (but gentle) questions about their experience. It's in Hebrew but you can switch on English subtitles on YouTube. It's not bombastic or pity-seeking - just a group of normal people who went through an extraordinary and terrifying experience.

Did anyone manage to load it from overseas? I'm in Israel so I have no way of knowing if it's limited to users in this country. Here's the link again just in case:

Sorry, it's coming up as unavailable here too

Ah that's a shame. The programme is just a really beautiful testament to how normal people managed to survive and to the roles they played in helping one another. A child age 10 played card games all day with his mother, who slept touching him to make sure nobody could take him away; one day he began to faint from hunger. A retiree imagined menus for holiday meals with his fellow captives. Another counted the pattern on the back of a chair like a mantra to remember all of her family members. A mother comforted her little girls pretending that it was dangerous in Israel and they were being kept in a safer place. Many hours and days of complete terror and cruelty, and the odd captor who showed a streak of humanity; the shock of returning to Israel and seeing their faces plastered across the country and being recognised everywhere. Hugely moving efforts by two of the hostages to conquer traumatic fears provoked by hearing the Arabic language and to interact normally with Arabs in daily life. The ongoing pain of friends and family members who were left behind and are still held by Hamas.

They are not forgotten.
Are there organisations supporting the hostage families psychologically, financially, physically that we could donate to?

Thank you @israelilefty for describing these accounts after your link would not work here.

When I was searching around You Tube trying to find your link another I way, but failing, I came across this account from a released hostage which is I think, just as you described the programme, about sheer humanity and inner strength. I would urge anyone to watch it.

It is an extraordinary testament from an exceptional young woman. It is both humbling and inspiring, and is also spiritual and full of wisdom.

This is the latest regarding a deal, not very promising unfortunately.

The grim reality:

From Haaretz

HOSTAGES/CEASE-FIRE: Six protesters, including family members of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, were arrested during a demonstration in Jerusalem near Netanyahu's private residence.

  • In response to the publication of new details from the investigation into the BibiLeaks affair, Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan is held by Hamas in Gaza, told Haaretz that "while Matan and the other hostages are languishing in tunnels, Netanyahu's gang is conducting a criminal propaganda operation against the hostage deal and against us families, while aiding the enemy and harming state security!"
