Zionism is literally the belief that there should be a homeland for the Jewish people in our ancestral land of Israel. That’s not at the exclusion of other people living there too.

For religious Jews, Zionism has a meaning separate from political Zionism - it refers to our eternal longing for our return to our homeland, the coming of the messiah and to rebuild the third temple. It’s central to our belief system, we pray towards Jerusalem three times a day, and our longing to return to Zion (another name for Jerusalem) is referred to in our daily prayers and blessings over and over again, prayers said by generations of Jews, (for about 2500 years ) - since the destruction of the second temple.

Political Zionism is a secular construct. To be a religious Jew is to be inextricably a Zionist in some form, regardless of opinions on the political structures/ Israeli government/ state of Israel.

Views of people within the country, which is currently at war and still reeling from a horrific terrorist attack, do not constitute 'Zionism'. Is 'Russia-ism' a violent bloodthirsty ideology because of the support in that country for Russia's actions in Ukraine?

However as other posters have said, hate speech online is nothing new and has been around for donkeys years. You should have seen some of the comments online when the Hind case was in the news.

The police depend on the platform owners to monitor and take down generalised comments like that. The last time I reported hate speech to them, they said unless it was directed at me personally and it was regarding one of my protected characteristics, there wasn’t anything they could do.

I think you can reasonably also consider the fact that not all Zionist political parties in Israel are quite as harmless as you are portraying.

The leader of the Religious Zionist Party of Israel, Bezalel Smotrich, and the leader of the Otzmar Yehudit, Itmar Ben Givir have been noted over the years for their frequent racist and homophobic comments as well as incitements to genocide in Gaza and West Bank both before and after the Oct 7 attack by Hamas.

Not all feminists believe in the equality of women, quite a few believe in the superiority of women. Feminism did have its terrorist suffragettes so at times it was happy to engage in bloodthirsty bombings to achieve its aim.
