I see countless UK run accounts like this. Hundreds of comments just like this.

Why? It's horrendous. How can we let this be said in Britain without any consequences?

You couldn't start conversations about other communities and not end up reported to the police.

I explained the background of Palestinian support in NI. I can’t even remember what she said she chanted.

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 01:08

If “reprehensible” is no longer a word that can be used to define bad-faith semantics being convoluted to justify the horrors that continue to appear on our tv screens day and night since last October, then perhaps it’s the word “humanity” that needs redefining.

How does one even achieve such levels of brutal ignorance without self-loathing?

Then what you're saying is totally irrelevant.

TheSh0ppingForecast · 30/06/2024 11:47

* support for Palestinian’s is very much rooted in a shared sense of solidarity over the fight over decolonisation.*

If this is true then it suggests a staggering lack of knowledge and understanding of the history of that part of the middle east.

It certainly does.

Anyone twisted enough to believe and suggest genocide is somehow a lesser evil than protesting against it because that equates to supporting the total wiping out of a country is either an utter moron devoid of empathy.

Even more so when the country in question is actively and openly engaged in doing exactly that to another.

This constantly playing and replaying of the victim card by disingenuous individuals in defence of longstanding and now disproportionately escalated aggression from a multi-faith nation of illegal land-grabbers are the actual disgusting comments in this despicable victim-blaming by gaslight thread.

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2024 13:52

You don't appear to understand what is being written.

Ketzele · 30/06/2024 14:08

That's a lot of words to say you don't care about Jews, sraildonasfraug.

On Ireland, it's utterly unsurprising that it has a big antisemitism problem. Who needs actual Jews when you have a deeply Catholic culture combined with a modern nationalism that strongly identifies with postcolonialism?

Spectacularly missing the point....but if in doubt, just say genocide.

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 14:27

I don’t think you understand what has been broken.

Denial, accusation and deliberate strawman misrepresentation. The best anyone’s going to get here on this.

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2024 14:31

Talking of deliberate strawman representation, you literally just wrote this: "Anyone twisted enough to believe and suggest genocide is somehow a lesser evil than protesting against it because that equates to supporting the total wiping out of a country is either an utter moron devoid of empathy."

What Ireland is this you speak of?

I was talking about Northern Ireland.

There is an awful lot of intelligent ways to criticise support for Palestine in NI. I would not agree with an element of this support myself but it’s not antisemitism that is behind it.

Comedycook · 30/06/2024 14:38

You've tried to shut down a discussion about anti semetism because 'genocide'.

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 14:51

You’ve tried to pass protest against genocide by military personnel of various religious persuasions off as antisemitism.

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2024 14:58

Antisemites definitely know which state is the Jewish one.

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 16:08

Accusers of antisemitism definitely know the difference between military and civilian targets.

noblegiraffe · 30/06/2024 16:12

It’s like you’re trying to communicate…

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 16:08

Accusers of antisemitism definitely know the difference between military and civilian targets.

But do accusers of accusers of antisemitism know the difference between actually getting to their point and dancing around it with semantic gymnastics?

Comedycook · 30/06/2024 17:05

Accusers of antisemitism....🤔

Well that's a new one...

Trying to suggest that criticism of Israel can't ever have its roots in antisemitism because some of them aren't Jewish is so bewilderingly stupid that I don't think it's worth trying to tease anything else from them.

Again with the strawman.

srailfonaidraug · 30/06/2024 18:08

Sure there’s a couple more slices in that, if you can get them thin enough.
