News seem to indicate a war between Israel and Hezbollah seems imminent , hopefully they’re wrong

Biden has said they’ll support Israel and several ships are on their way to support Israel

from what I’ve read , hezbollah has got more and stronger weapons than Hamas in Gaza

I can only think about how many innocent civilians are going to die because incompetent politicians and many times men.

Earlier, air raid sirens sounded on the outskirts of Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli alert apps, which the Israeli military said were triggered by “a launch from Lebanon toward Israeli territory”.
“The fallen projectile was identified in the area of Mitzpe Hagit,” the military said in a statement.
“Israeli fire and rescue services are currently operating to extinguish fires caused by the fallen projectile in the area.”
It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties, Reuters reported.

It would be ironic if they hit the dome of the rock with their missiles....

I wonder what the impact of the war in Lebanon is going to be in terms of pro Paelstinian protest. Are the protests going to morph into anti Israel protests and look to add. Lebanon in terms of sloganeering? One thing may be is that given Hezbollahs aid of Assad and the celebrations in Idlib coupled with scenes of Iranians celebrating in front of the Israeli embassy waving 'I stand with Israel' placards people in this country may see the situation in the middle East is a complex one.

Don't think it'll stop them, they dont over think it. They've had flags of hezbollah at demonstrations and calls of support for Houthis.

Two interesting quotes from that news story

"Israel must “immediately stop its strikes in Lebanon”, the French foreign minister, Jean-Noël Barrot, said, adding that his country was opposed to any form of ground operation by the Israelis."

and

"Since Nasrallah’s death Hezbollah has said it will continue fighting Israel and has continued to fire rockets at it, including a salvo on Sunday morning."

So one side told to stop and the other carry on as they have done since 8th October in support of hamas.

That won't work 😕

"19 senior Hezbollah officials who have been killed"

Intelligence seems to know where they all are. Someone is helping them. Perhaps the people if Lebanon can get their country back!

When some protesters have been asked questions about the history of the area they appear quite stumped. One girl looked baffled and had no idea of who the Houthis really were, and what they had done to their own people whilst she was flag waving for the Houthis. Merely chanted along. Thick as mince

YoYoYoYo12345 · 29/09/2024 17:11

"Hezbollah's arsenal includes missiles capable of striking targets up to 310 miles away and drones with an operational range of 1,240 miles. This extensive weaponry makes Hezbollah the most heavily armed non-state actor globally, with a military force surpassing that of many sovereign nations. The group benefits from an estimated $700 million in annual Iranian investment. According to CNN's data, Hezbollah's diverse arsenal encompasses rockets, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), air defense systems, and surface-to-air missiles."

They have quite a bit of fire power. Iran seem to spend a lot of money keeping them going.

Again the poor people deserve better than the vile islamist terrorist groups they are lumbered with.

Imagine if all that money was spent on the betterment of its population. Its sad and disgusting

It's also pretty vile the amount of countries with whom Israel has gone to war recently. Well over the top. Let's hope the UK stays out of it. I don't want trouble on our streets because of our government supporting an aggressor like Netanyahu.

They are allowed to defend themselves

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 29/09/2024 17:50

Yes. But if a bully in the playground hits you, you are not allowed to hit back at everyone in 3 surrounding schools.

If 3 bullies hit you, are you to ignore them all and keep letting them hit you.

The thing is, they don't just hit them. This isn't a playground. They fire rockets daily. They rape, torture, kidnap and murder. They say they will not stop until your country is wiped off the face of the earth. Not quite the simplistic playground scenario you pretend. 🙄

knitnerd90 · 29/09/2024 18:26

Really, some of the younger protesters are doing themselves no favours with IDing with Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis. What happens is they get their photos in conservative tabloids and people use it to discredit all protest. Have some common sense. Israel bombing Gaza doesn't mean political Islamism and militancy are good ideas.

mids2019 · 29/09/2024 18:35

Yeah. I suspect that if the protests continue in the UK there may be a few Hezbollah support signs in there so they need to be well policed. I think the protests are going to expand from demands for ceasefire and a two state solution to simply anti Israel to embrace all the current conflict in the region. (I suppose for some at least it's more honest).

We're way beyond that point. People have been calling for one state (ie obliteration of Israel) for ages. There have been people supporting Hamas Hezbollah & Houthis & lots of 'anti-zionist' and anti-Israel posters and chants.

Iran is like the bully that manipulates all the other kids (in 3 surrounding schools) to do his bidding (and making them extremely miserable in the process) but no one is allowed to touch this bully because they're threatening to blow up all the schools

This is the most nuts analysis I've ever heard.

How about saying it's also pretty vile the amount of countries where there are Iran controlled militias (which actually would be a complete sentence if we stopped here) who have attacked Israel recently for no reason. other than to do Iran's bidding.

Well over the top.

You know, things like the Houthis in Yemen launching ballistic missiles and Iranian militias in Iraq launching cruise missiles. Isn't that vile?

mids2019 · 30/09/2024 06:20

There is a chance the UK may get drawn into the conflict in some capacity of Iran gets involved. There is a US air craft carrier in the region and any military action by the US may be supported by the UK from Cyprus.

Despite calls for de-escalation we shouldn't be I doubt that the UK stands with Israel as does the US . Iran probably wants the focus on death in Gaza and Lebanon to act as propaganda to stir up anti Israel political feeling here in the UK.

It's bizarre isn't it that people don't actually realise how much Iran uses terrorist groups to destabilise the region with constant attacks on Israel. Why the free pass to Iran to do what it likes.

and this seems to be the reason

A Palestinian militant group said three of its leaders were killed in an Israeli attack on central Beirut early on Monday, in what would be the first time Israel’s military had struck the centre of Lebanon’s capital city since 2006.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a militant group taking part in the fight against Israel, said three senior figures were killed in the Beirut attack, with initial footage from the scene showing two storeys of an apartment building completely blown out, and onlookers running towards the building.
