News seem to indicate a war between Israel and Hezbollah seems imminent , hopefully they’re wrong

Biden has said they’ll support Israel and several ships are on their way to support Israel

from what I’ve read , hezbollah has got more and stronger weapons than Hamas in Gaza

I can only think about how many innocent civilians are going to die because incompetent politicians and many times men.

And, since October, Israel has been spreading something else in southern Lebanon - choking, searing clumps of white phosphorus, contained in munitions.

Whatever is the nastiest option.

Just seen this terrible news, from what I have read many of the injured and dead are children

Yes today, it looks really bad

ScrollingLeaves · 27/07/2024 18:07

It is terrible and will perpetuate the violence.

BelleHathor · 27/07/2024 18:09

Be wary (as Netanyahu wants any excuse for an escalation) and wait for further confirmation.

It happened an hour ago, journalists in the region who have contacted
Hezbollah say they are not claiming responsibility. It's a Druze area and one of the Druze leaders has just stated that it looks like an Israeli Air Defence missile, so could be due to an Iron Dome misfire.

It’s hard to know what to believe isn’t it @BelleHathor I think it’s wise to wait for further information. All I know right now, is that this is a very sad day for the victims and their families, and that it shouldn’t have happened, and that a retaliation which results in more dead children isn’t the way to make things better.

Flibflobflibflob · 27/07/2024 21:41

Hezbollah have been shelling Israel since 8th October (before Israel mounted an attack on Gaza). The shelling was not in response to Israels Gaza operation it was a show of support for Hamas’s actions.

Quite a few children have been killed, I think mainly from the Druze community. It’s so incredibly sad how many children have been killed, it doesn’t matter whether they are children in Gaza or in Israel, they are all just kids.

Really? Are you being serious? It couldn’t just have been Hezbollah?

Hezbollah apparently issued a statement taking credit on telegram and then hastily retracted it a few hours later according to anonymous.

Which Anonymous? You do know that there are different groups of hacker collectives that go under the name Anonymous, including ones that have been infiltrated by intelligence agencies and are used to disseminate propaganda?

Like I said give it time, the UN security Council is meeting tomorrow to discuss the incident.

PeasfullPerson · 27/07/2024 22:13

I am keeping an open mind to all possibilities. It’s important that there are attempts to properly establish the facts.

This scares me

Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has said Lebanon “as a whole” should pay for the attack on Majdal Shams.

“For the death of small children, Nasrallah should pay with his head,” he said on X, referring to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

“Lebanon as a whole has to pay the price. My position regarding the necessary steps is known. The prime minister must return immediately. It’s time for action!,” he added.

Hezbollah has denied responsibility for the attack, while the Lebanese government has called “for an immediate cessation of hostilities”.’

Rocket attack kills 11 people in Israeli-occupied Golan Heights

Hezbollah denies Israeli claims that it fired rocket that hit football pitch in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

BelleHathor · 27/07/2024 22:51

Absolutely cool heads need to prevail. It's extremely complicated, the village that was hit is in the occupied Golan Heights (Syrian Land) and most of the Druze that live there are Syrian (though they carry Israeli Identification). Traditionally they have been pro Palestinian.

Hezbollah killed at least 11 children with a targeted strike on a football field in northern Israel. Should israel just let them kill their children? Or should they take out the missile sites?

Israeli airstrikes hit a school in Gaza today killing dozens. Do you think Palestinians should just let them kill their children? What action do you think should be taken against Israel, I'm presuming that you want all military bases in Israel to be 'taken out'?

The loss of any life is appalling, innocent children even more so but in my view this all needs to be dampened down, not ramped up which will inevitably lead to the killing of more innocent people.

  1. Hizbollah launch rockets at a place for months on end, specifically for hours on end today, and then many people are killed - you conclude that this is due to the IDF.
  2. you then state that I ‘don’t care’ about Palestinian lives - utter bullshit. I care very much, but there is no causation between Gaza and this killing except for Iran and Nasrallah opening up a second front.

So I’ll stick with my accusation thank you.
