News seem to indicate a war between Israel and Hezbollah seems imminent , hopefully they’re wrong

Biden has said they’ll support Israel and several ships are on their way to support Israel

from what I’ve read , hezbollah has got more and stronger weapons than Hamas in Gaza

I can only think about how many innocent civilians are going to die because incompetent politicians and many times men.

Lebanon isn't occupied, yet hezbollah still constantly launch missiles at Israel. Apparently that's how they show support for Hamas. Lebanon don't have control of their own country, hezbollah seem to decide to put the Lebanese people in danger.

A bit like the Houthis ruining their uwn country whilst supporting terrorists in another country.

Terrorists R Us uniting together and putting their poor people at risk. Nothing good will come from this.

You are right. Nothing good will come from any of it. That's why it is so important that the West puts pressure on to end this now. No weapons sales to any of them. Sanction all of them. Arrest warrants for all of them. Until all of the rockets stop from Hezbollah and Hamas, all of Israels action on Gaza and the West Bank and Lebanon stop, the illegal occupations and apartheid stops.

It is gross to support any of that we should all make that loud and clear.

Scirocco · 23/09/2024 19:34

According to the BBC, the US are sending "a small number" of additional troops to the region.

Oh, and over 350 people have been killed in airstrikes on Lebanon.

Sadly Iran provide weapons to Hamas and Hezbollah and they listen to no one.

I have just listened to the News at one on Radio 4. I urge you to listen to it. It should be available on BBC sounds.
It is chilling.

You aren't suggesting that because Iran support them we should too are you? Supporting any of the heinous acts I listed imo shouldn't be an option. Any country that supports them and any individual that supports them should be treated the same way, sanctions for counties supporting terrorist attacks and apartheid, convictions for invididuals.

What, in your view, would supporting Israel in a way that would be criminal look like? And are there any other states you think it should be illegal to support?

The woman at 31.51 saying the conflict has been going on for a long time and war has not solved the problem. Such simple words and an eternity of truth.

So are Hizbollah completely emasculated as a pseudo army? It seems for their much vaulted missile numbers they can't get many up (no pun intended).

Seriously though have the Israelis dealt a decisive blow to Hizbollah as they must appear dreadfully weak to their terrorist supporting followers? The army of god is now appearing a bit army of pygmy like.

I see they are also using the human shield tactics hiding weaponry in civilian housing.

For sure. Vocal support for breaking international law shouldn't be tolerated no matter who is doing it.

Do you think it should be?

FFS Benny Hill jokes

And there is no way I will believe the Israeli (terrorist supporting Govt) excuse for killing Lebanese civilians " I see they are also using the human shield tactics hiding weaponry in civilian housing.". GTF.

Is it the assumption Israel has weakened Hamas to the point they aren't able to retaliate?

It seems like a lot of their arsenal had been potentially destroyed or they would be used. .

Who has told you they’re not able to retaliate ?? If that’s the case why are they still bombing Gaza ?

Because Hamas haven’t handed the hostages back? Because they don’t want peace? Because if Israel leave it, Hamas will react by regrouping and performing more atrocities?

Hamas are not going to hand the hostages back unless there is a ceasefire agreement and clearly the Israeli Govt does not want a ceasefire as they want to continue eradicating all Palestinians, stay in power and create a bigger war .
Israeli Ministers have stated that aim/wish previously.
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck it's a duck.
Are Israeli citizens going to wake up to this or just keep going down this path?

So, Israel hasn’t weakened hamas like the poster has suggested then.

Just gone up to 492, seems to be hurtling towards disaster now.

Has the Lebanese president spoken about these attacks. I am curious with Lebanon being one the most religously divided in the middle east how this will play out in terms of its society

Will the Christian minority (30% - 40%) and moderate Muslims be appalled at the result of Islamist terrorism and seek to try and use this as an opportunity to remove this cancerous group or are the scales not in their favour?

Doesn't answer my question but okay.

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2024 21:48

They seem very quiet @mids2019

There does seem to be a slight query about whether Hezbollah will really fight back, their infrastructure seems to have been very damaged by the pagers and subsequent attacks and the Israeli narrative seems to be an equivalent of 'right, that's it, you're getting it full force' which seems to have caught Hezbollah more off guard than you'd think.

Also, there are suggestions that Iran have spotted a different opportunity, to not go in full force behind Hezbollah, but instead paint themselves as some sort of negotiator/broker in return for easing of all sorts of sanctions from The West.

Seems it could go either way. I'm not sure Israel are going to embrace an Iranian peace broker though...

The illustration even shows them taking up multiple rooms and stories….like the cruise missile is in the living room and it goes through the ceiling into a bedroom above? They aren’t even trying to show anything plausible.

I’m still waiting for airstrike footage to have secondary explosions from all the cruise missiles, rockets and ammo storage dumps they say they are destroying.

It's on Times of Israel, there are videos of the secondary explosions and in one video, a rocket shoots out of one residential house and into the neighbours.
