Conflict in the Middle East

Boycotting Israeli products/services

I’m trying my best to support the boycott. For those doing the same - what products/services are you using instead?

The hardest one for me has been giving up on going to Disney Paris next year. I had planned it as a joint birthday present, kids will be the perfect age. But I can’t stand in Disney with my kids knowing they support a regime killing kids.

Any good alternatives to Disney, or any other brand on the list?

There you go: you have summed up your hypocrisy nicely here.

Not really hypocrisy, they're completely different regions with completely different histories and completely different conflicts.

@Noonecares245 is completely right, this is hate speech.

And @Sunshineonasameyday saying that boycotting Israeli products leads to racial segregation, supports hate speech and leads to hateful actions... I mean LOL, have you seen what the Israeli government, and many of its people have subjected the Palestinians to for literal decades?!? Erm, racial segregation, hate speech and propaganda and hateful actions!

Do you have any understanding at all of Middle East history and politics? About 20% of Israelis are Arabs with full rights, who greatly prefer living there to life in any of the Arab countries, where human rights for women are terrible and nearly all Jews were thrown out (and all their property confiscated) decades ago.
Palestinians routinely indulge in hate speech, propaganda and "hateful actions". Many Palestinians and many in other Arab countries teach their children to hate all Jews and call for the death of all Jews. It’s in the Hamas founding charter. Hardly any Jews do the same the other way round.

You have swallowed racist propaganda hook, line and sinker. Do you worry equally about the hundreds of thousands killed and displaced in other wars in other parts of the world? If not, perhaps you ought to ask yourself why not.

So you agree with total eradication of all Jews then? Because that is what Hamas stand for.

HelpAGirlOut1234 · 18/06/2024 18:58

@caringcarer and I clearly informed you that the Palestinian government are not holding hostages.... what don't you understand about that?

HelpAGirlOut1234 · 18/06/2024 18:59

@Sunshineonasameyday did I ever say that I agreed with Hamas or supported them in anyway?

No.

No, I did not.

Your posts suggest otherwise.

FillyourPothole · 18/06/2024 19:00

It's genocide pure and simple.

There is no justification for it. It is unjustifiable no matter what happened on Oct 7th.

How is it genocide?

I rather feel we're in an another league here, we didn't buy carrots for the dogs as they were from Israel last week. I mean, we go through around 5kgs of carrots a week, but it's not quite a Disney holiday...

I'm in the same league as you. I will never buy any fruit/veg from Israel again, if enough people do it it will rot on the shelves and shops will stop using them as suppliers. I'm not much of buyer really, buy most things 2nd hand for eco reasons, so my reach is probably quite limited but things like food if it says Israel its a no from me for ever more.

HelpAGirlOut1234 · 18/06/2024 19:01

@Sunshineonasameyday no actually, my posts don't suggest otherwise. At no point did I say I supported Hamas.

I support the Palestinian men, women and children being systematically wiped out by a genocidal regime that is the Israeli government.

What other countries do you boycott or is it just Israel?

Get your facts right - don't come here and spread propaganda. It wasn't the Muslims who murdered millions in WW2. And Islam does not teach hatred against anyone. If anything - you ought to look at the curriculum being taught to the children in Israel - you'll know what hatred really is. You have just about every single senior Israeli official in the government calling for the genocide of Palestinians- that's Hatred.

And regarding the so called rights of Arabs living in Israel that posters here are going on about- they're 2nd class citizens in their OWN LAND. The land that was stolen via means of oppression, killing and violence not seen anywhere else on this planet.

Just Israel 🙂

Sunshineonasameyday · 18/06/2024 19:04

Technically the British are to blame for this conflict. Them and the Muslim brotherhood who Egypt kicked out for being too radical and no Arab state wants near them because they are too radical.

Sunshineonasameyday · 18/06/2024 19:04

PearlKoala · 18/06/2024 19:03

Not China or UAE or Russia then?

Comedycook · 18/06/2024 19:05

PearlKoala · 18/06/2024 19:03

Just Israel 🙂

Well next time I am food shopping I'll make a conscious effort to buy Israeli produce and cancel out your boycott

Sunshineonasameyday · 18/06/2024 19:06

The history of the Muslim brotherhood is quite interesting id recommend reading about it if you want extra reading around this conflict.

Good luck boycotting Teva pharmaceutical medications. In pharmacies in the UK, most of us get what we get given by the pharmacy and have no say in the matter.

Teva is huge. Israel’s biggest export by miles is pharmaceuticals, mostly Teva. British pharmacies have grown very dependent on them.

I’m on multiple medications and Teva medications make a regular appearance.

It’s not exactly giving up a Disney holiday or a burger, is it?

My late Mum's partner took his medication back to the chemist and demanded an alternative as it came from Israel. This was about 25 years ago and the chemist was able to sort something out for him. Probably not so easy these days.

Why is buying carrots having questionable morals?

First thing we can semi agree on, yes the British are hugely to blame for this conflict, and destroying Palestine.

Sunshineonasameyday · 18/06/2024 19:11

So you don't see any fault in the Muslim Brotherhood at all? Just so we are clear on this.

What part of just Israel was confusing for you? I haven't seen Chinese spuds or Russian carrots in the shop tbh. I don't want to support the Israeli economy in anyway at all if I can help it so yeah I will use my very small purchasing power to avoid anything labelled as being from there and cannot see that ever changing. If that offends you then that's your problem. You go buy all of their strawberries and spuds.

If you're so moralistic about perceived genocides and human rights injustices please direct your anger towards China. Also have a look round your home and see how much of your home was made or designed in china.
