Boycotting Israeli products/services

I’m trying my best to support the boycott. For those doing the same - what products/services are you using instead?

The hardest one for me has been giving up on going to Disney Paris next year. I had planned it as a joint birthday present, kids will be the perfect age. But I can’t stand in Disney with my kids knowing they support a regime killing kids.

Any good alternatives to Disney, or any other brand on the list?

As a pp asked, are you boycotting China because what they are doing to the Uyghurs truly is genocidal.

People like that are never boycotting China.

Bumble6 · 18/06/2024 19:49

If you are boycotting goods from Israel because you believe it is commiting genocide but you don't also boycott good from countries like China then it's just hypocrisy. People seem to only concern themselves with what is the current trend.

Hamas are not representative of an oppressed people. Hamas are there to bring about islamic fundamentalism and eradicate Jews.

@Sunshineonasameyday if Israel wanted to commit genocide it would turn on its own people first? What in the name of god are you talking about?

They are committing genocide against the Palestinian people who live in the territory they have occupied for decades.

And please, I'd love an answer to my other question... if you think all Palestinians ARE Hamas, do you also believe all Irish WERE the IRA?

Here's an example of a country doing this: China.

They are turning on their own people by sending some of them to concentration camps and sterilising them. Which is genocidal.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/06/2024 19:52

@HelpAGirlOut1234

You seem against ‘an eye for an eye’ yet you use it as justification.

Have you seen how Jewish people were treated for centuries in the Middle East? Centuries. Does that make what the Israeli government does to Palestinians okay? No.

I can say that easily. You try.

nothing justifies violence. Nothing.

Nothing justifies attacking innocents to start a war. Nothing.

Nothing makes right the murder of children. Nothing.

If you can’t see that then you’ve gone too far into cult thinking.

HelpAGirlOut1234 · 18/06/2024 19:53

@Sunshineonasameyday it's much easier to recruit terrorists from a population of young people who have been subjected to persecution and racist segregation all of their lives.

If Israel did not treat the Palestinians in the way they have done, would Hamas have the manpower that they do?

Where have I said that Hamas' actions are justified? Where?

Am I surprised? No.

Do I think it's justifiable? No.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/06/2024 19:54

@SocoBateVira Totally. People who won’t but Israeli fruit but happily buy clothes made by genocidal slave Labour in China.

This is why people should read books and not just watch Tik Tok.

Noonecares245 · 18/06/2024 19:55

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/06/2024 19:14

Just a point: it’s no one’s ‘own land’. The whole area has been disputed for the last two thousand years. Everyone who currently lives there is an immigrant population of some kind. All the land in the area was taken by force in some war or other by the dominant power in that area at the time Phonecians/ Macedonians/ Persians/ Romans/ Byzantines/ Ottomans. Because it is a strategically placed port area everyone has always wanted it.

The ‘original’ inhabitants of that area were the Caananites, who no longer exist.

Hence why the Romans decided during the third Jewish Revolt that is would be easier to keep the land and get rid of the people by murdering hundreds of thousands and selling the rest into slavery- thus creating the Jewish diasporas of Europe and beginning the anti-Semitic persecution of the Jews.

Who were then replaced in their ‘own land’ by the Arab migrations of the fifth and sixth century. When Jews returned to what had been Judea they were subject to anti-semetic laws and abuses.

The history is so, so complicated. It does not excuse what is happening now. But be careful of Tik Tok history lessons and half truths.

This has been bubbling over for decades. Make no mistake that Hamas know very well what they are doing. They want to prolong this. They are watch ‘their people’ die and still refuse to return the hostages. They want this. Why are people not directing more condemnation their way?

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/06/2024 19:56

@HelpAGirlOut1234 You said understandable which has the implication that you understand why they did it and in some way agree that it could and therefore should happen.

I don’t think I could ever understand the thought process of someone who could shoot a pregnant woman because of her race.

Like absolute bullshit. The two conflicts have hugely different backgrounds.

Yep!

There are of course some people who simply don't like Jews and are applying a double standard accordingly, but I suspect in the majority of cases it might just be ignorance.

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 18/06/2024 19:57

@Noonecares245 Like bollocks. The two situations are not remotely similar. If anything Hamas are more politically and ideologically aligned with Putin than the Ukrainian people.

Historically speaking, Ukraine was not a part of the Russian empire.

No it highlights your hypocrisy and double standards.

@HelpAGirlOut1234

You aren’t surprised by mass rape and murder? You aren’t surprise when a terrorist group invades another country to kidnap hundreds of people, murdering whole families in the process?

Because that reads like you think Isreal had it coming.

Boycotting Israeli products/services

What China is doing is against the Uyghurs is extremely worrying.

If my government did not reflect my views about what is happening in China and even went as far as giving China military assistance to target and even kill the Uyghurs- I would be looking at what I can do to protest.

I want to boycott Israeli products because it’s the only way I can to protest when my government is not only silent but assisting the IDF.

Does anyone know any supermarkets selling humus from non-occupied territories?

You're right it's not surprising that a radically fundamentalist Islamic terrorist organisation intent on wiping out the whole Jewish race incites war

Do I justify their actions? Absolutely not.

There are variations of it all over the internet. I saw that one on Twitter, but it isn't new.
