New Hamas video of hostages

The new Hamas video released today of the female hostages selected as the ones they planned to get pregnant was so sickening and I wish I hadn’t seen it.

however, I am also wondering WHY it has not been more widely picked up and broadcast? I don’t understand the silence from the bleeding left; why don’t they see stuff like this and not just feel desperate and sick about those poor poor girls and their families who must be beyond devastated.

Watching the men in those videos helps to counter balance the idea of Israel as the aggressor. I wish more would see it and reflect or even just place those women of equal value to those in Gaza.

How is the world so perverse right now that this warrants a shrug from so many? Or worse, is viewed as justified !?

From where I'm standing the far right element is Netanyahu and he's being ably supported by the right wing.

Left wing or central people mainly don't comment as they will get called antisemitic at the drop of a hat.

I find it disgusting it's being used to play right/left culture wars. But that's the right wing for you.

Humdingerydoo · 23/05/2024 19:17

On the one side we have far right terrorists and on the other side we have the left defending them. It's extremely odd.

It's extremely disturbing. Even more disturbing that it's not even surprising any more.

God, its unbearable. I know someone who works in counter terrorism and within a few days of the massacre they had a briefing in which they were told things that he could not share. He said it was worse than anything that was reported.

It is unbearable

Choosing to come onto a thread about bloodied, beaten and abused women and their desperate families to complain about how it's not fair that some of the more terrorist sympathising elements of the left wing are being unfairly disparaged and how the timing of the video's release doesn't quite suit. Give over.

I'm not the poster(s) who started using such a thread to disparage "the left" unnecessarily. Take it up with them. As I said, I find making it about left/right wholly inappropriate.

SammyScrounge · 23/05/2024 20:12

In the video one of the terrorists leans forward and touches his forehead to the ground. Is he actually praying amidst all the tormenting of these young girls? Unbelievable.
How anyone could view the plight of these poor girls and not feel sick for them I'll never know. Every woman must surely feel for them.
Videos like these expose the fundamental nature of Hamas men and what the Israelis are up against.

Anyone who is interested enough in the situation to post on this thread should read this one too.

Thanks for drawing our attention to this as I had not seen it. Very thoughtful, interesting & insightful.

I find it so harrowing and barbaric

Just unconscionable

Yes, I think it should be compulsory reading for anyone who thinks Israel has the upper hand. The Brits have a weakness for "the underdog" that may be based on some very distorted perceptions.

I'd just like to add that when 7 October first hit the news, I just dismissed it from my head and had an automatic reaction that favoured Palestine, which I vaguely understood to have been oppressed for decades. I'm deeply ashamed now of that oversimplification.

Are there any other instances of wholly inappropriate behaviour-perhaps exhibited by the terrorists in this video of the hostages-that you feel motivated to comment upon?

I had the misfortune of unexpectedly seeing some of the footage from an IDF base posted up by Hamas on October 7th and the level of carnage and desecration was inhuman.

That translation of the words as 'the girls that can get pregnant' is highly contentious. Best to check for accuracy before assumptions- not to defend any of the rest of it.

This what you took from the video?

What's your interpretation of it?

Babyboomtastic · 23/05/2024 20:40

It's horrific. It should be condemned.

We've seen and watched months worth of horrific footage coming from Gaza and this video sits somewhere in the midst of this avalanche of deliberately inflicted misery and suffering. People's reactions don't occur in a vacumn. People that have seen this video have also likely seem the bodies of dismembered children, those who have starved, their mothers crying over their bloodied corpses. Poor little Hind. Those abandoned premature babies. The men found bound and shot. A huge amount of broken bodies and every kind of pain.

In the same way that the first assault on a hospital was considered horrific worldwide, but by the time of the 10th, there's more of an exhausted tragic ache, rather than the original rage. The first time we saw Israeli soldiers strip, bind and beat men, including kids and elderly, I was horrified. Now I'm just saddened.

What we have seen (on both sides) is so horrific that it takes a lot to shock. So whilst what these poor women are going through is hell and it should be condemned, I have a more visceral reaction to the ten thousand plus innocent children who have died. To those who are suffocating to death alone and in pain right now trapped beneath the rubble.

There is enough death for each if us to be horrified by different people's suffering. Its not a competition.

8 pages long poster are in awe of the situation 100 odd people find themselves in...but absolutely not a word of condemnation of Israels atrocities, thay has resulted in the killing of 30k+ and nearly 2 million starving.

If you'd bothered to read the thread you'd know that's not true. You're not the first person to come on here complaining that people are not talking about the only thing you think they're allowed to talk about.

LordPercyPercy · 23/05/2024 21:03

@Cantthinkofone123 there are plenty of threads discussing that. These women are entitled to sympathy and horror at their plight too.

I've just seen something about hostage bodies discovered in an UNRWA building but how confirmed it is I'm uncertain.

The poster you quoted may have a different understanding from me, but it sounded to me like the 'man' in the video said "sabaya". That's a word which broadly translates as 'female captives'. I think the intent of those 'men' looks pretty clearly laid out in the footage, though.

takemeawayagain · 23/05/2024 21:10

I haven't seen anything about this, it's shocking that it didn't make the front page BBC when Diddy's violence did (not that that's ok in any way). It's just appalling that Netanyahu hasn't prioritised getting the poor hostages home safely. I can't imagine what their families are going through.

Pieceofpurplesky · 23/05/2024 21:13

I cannot begin to comprehend how those women and their families feel. It's beyond horrific. My heart goes out to all who lost someone, was injured or knew someone involved in 7 October. These hostages need to come home. I also feel heartbroken for the innocent Palestinians who have been killed, lost family and homes.

As with every war and conflict an evil minority rain terror on the innocents - from both sides.
I wish there was an answer.

Selected as the ones to get pregnant? Who said this? I've Googled it and it says they are 5 isreali soldiers? Not that them being in the forces justifies it. It doesn't the perpetrators of these crimes should be in the Hague, but i really hate propaganda and unless there is some material evidence that these hostages were taken to get pregnant, then that's all it is.

Absolutely correct, they deserve justice every bit as much. I hope they are safe and well and make it home.

Did you read any of the 8 pages?

Some people have mentioned it and been quite rightly told that this is not what the thread is about
